Growing into the Job, Post 346: A Sunday at Melissa's, p4
The clock was chiming again as the two of us climbed the stairs. Well, she was climbing. I was in her arms. It was, I dunno, nine or something, maybe eleven. I was already exhausted from the morning I’d had. In the past hour I’d found my phone busted, been wrung dry by a hand job into the pool, and - oh yeah - nearly drowned. So, I couldn’t help but take the chance to close my eyes, and luxuriate in her embrace as she carried me. Melissa was so strong, so confident, and this weekend I’d gotten to a place where I could put my pride aside and more easily accept her comforts. But, as relaxed as I was, the first bell toll caused my eyes to shoot open. It felt like it was ringing for me.
“Where’s that clock?” I asked, curious. Hearing it from the kitchen earlier, I would have sworn it was in the great room near the stairs. Now that we were on the stairs, it sounded like it could be coming from the kitchen.
“Shhh, don’t worry about the clock,” Melissa hushed me, smiling down at me warmly, strangely. Anyway, she was bringing me back up to the bedroom for a shower, to clean off the chlorine and whatever remnants of last night still clung crusty to me. And, despite the heat of her body, a cold chill still ran down my spine. I needed a warming up.
Quietly we passed down the open balcony hall that overlooked the great room, through her bedroom and into her en-suite bath. It was done simply but elegantly in creamy stone tiles, with natural light coming in from an overhead skylight. A glass wall separated a walk-in shower from which chrome fixtures and a huge rainhead shower glistened.
With me still in her arms, she turned on the shower and let the water warm. “Can you stand by yourself?” she asked.
“I think so,” I answered, without really even considering why she’d asked. Did you expect me to forget how to stand? Walk? Maybe not too unreasonable; I’d apparently just lost the ability to swim.
With great care she placed me down, and stepped me backwards under the deluge from above. My legs actually were shaky but ahhhhh the water was nice, perfectly warm. Patterned marble tiles were underfoot, larger stone ones lining the walls, while a chrome drain whisked water away. Melissa smiled at my obvious pleasure, still wrapped in a figure-hugging white towel and matching turban. She stood just outside the shower stall, on the other side of a low stone threshold.
“So,” she began, her eyes having already drifted up from my feet, “Do you want to wash yourself or do I get to bathe you?”
“Um,” I started, eyeing the vast selection of gels, shampoos and other assorted bottles and tubes which lined an inset shelf to my left. I was confused by my options and the whiffs I got of her perfume reminded me of how good she was at being a woman, and how inept a man I was.
Was this pheromone 0001.55.6344.gf, .6388.dd or .6349.gd you were using on me at that moment? Maybe a cocktail? Remind me to ask you later.
I crossed my hands in front of me, unsure of myself. “Can you help?” I asked.
“Of course, sweetie,” she beamed, and reached for the handheld spray attachment mounted to the wall. She turned on its water, checked its temperature, and crouched so she could begin to shower my body with its firm spray. “Is this coming out too hard, baby?” she asked, with earnest concern, looking up at me with honest eyes, “I can turn it down if it’s too much.”
“n-no it’s okay,” I answered, glimpsing down between her full breasts. Her towel was tied at the chest, and cleavage jiggled. As if enjoying the attention, she smiled as she adjusted the pressure and temperature making it just that much better. The spray from the shower wand was strong, but felt nice down my chest, up under my arms as she lifted my right wrist, then the left. It felt particularly good when - nnngh - she passed it between my legs, sprayed it up into my nethers. It gave me a jolt of pleasure, the jet pulsing into my scrotum and, goddamn me, I felt a new erection start to swell. The overhead water continued to wash over me as well.
“Well, tell me if it’s too much,” she said, the evenness in her voice and straight face belying the fact that she was obviously paying special attention to my manhood, exciting it with the handheld spray. She tweaked the water pressure again, adjusted the temperature.
My cock responded. Oh my god, that feels amazing, even better.
“That okay?” she asked.
“y-y-yes…” I managed, trying to keep from writhing in pleasure.
“You sure?” she pressed, “You seem so sensitive. If you're uncomfortable I can always just sit you up next to the sink, scrub you up with a washcloth instead.”
What, and make me feel even more like a newborn? “N-no I’m fine,” I assured, my cock betraying my thoughts with an excited throb. She proceeded to firmly spritz my whole body with the wand, passing it up my sides, over my arms and legs. Down my chest and belly. My boner was on its way back, at half-swollen mast, gradually growing under the warm attention of her shower and the tingles it brought. It felt great against my cock, as she paid it special service, watching it with curiosity as it bobbed and swayed slowly hardening further under the pressure. “That feels really nice,” I admitted, suddenly craving her hand, or a mouth.
With a wry smile she looked up at me before standing, to her full height. Her breasts were right in front of my face. She replaced the spray wand to its wall mount, though water still jetted from its nozzles. I tried to watch her face, read her expression, but my attention was immediately pulled toward her hands as she undid the big knot in her towel, which bound it to her chest. With more than a small amount of drama the towel fell, revealing her naked body. I couldn’t help but groan she was so perfect, her curves so jaw-droppingly stunning. By god her waist was small, her hips so flared. Well-trimmed womanhood lay between the cleft of thick, powerful thighs and legs which would shame a racehorse. Her tummy was softly trim and tanned, navel formed to vertical perfection, the hint of her abdominals rippling beneath taut, flawless skin. And above, god help me, her breasts hung huge, giant globes just two shades paler than the rest of her, each a firm, ovate melon with large brown nipples, tan aureoles. My eyes looked up into enormous, monumental underboob, and saw the faint pattern of blue veins just under her skin’s surface. She was huge, huge! How tall had she become?! My god, I felt tiny.
She giggled, amused by my awestruck expression, and pulled the towel from her hair. She shook her dark mane, semi-dry, and looked back down at me. She watched as I backed up as she stepped into the shower. Warm water from the ceiling now flowed over both of us. She reached for a bottle of shampoo, and squeezed some into her hand. With the other, she turned me around, and from behind her hands began rubbing my hair. I could feel her fingers firmly scrubbing my scalp, massaging shampoo into my sodden hair, a lather foaming up. My eyes fluttered under the indulgence of her attention as she worked it into my head, cleaning everything around my ears, rubbing the back of my neck with frothy shampoo.
To rinse, she pulled me back a bit, more fully under the rainhead and began to speak again to me. “So, tell me. How do you feel about our relationship dynamic now?” she asked, shielding my eyes with a hand over my brow, “Hm?”
“Wh-what do you mean?” I asked, water sputtering from my lips. I was a little surprised by the suddenness of her question.
“Can’t you feel it changing again?” she said plainly, rubbing my hair under the showerfall to clear it of soap. “Because I can,” she continued, as she reached for something else behind her, from the shower shelf. She was squeezing something else from a bottle. “I can feel myself becoming more dominant over you, again. But in a like big mama-bear kinda way.” She was rubbing what sounded like gel between her hands, frothing it up. “And you’re getting more submissive, more dependent on me, weaker.”
“Wow, uh…” I began, not really knowing what to say. Whatever pride I still had, whatever vestiges of male ego and authority still rattled away inside my shattered soul rankled a bit at her suggestions…even though my cock again betrayed me with a throb. Yes, yes, yes. I was in a tough time, in life. Struggling a bit with my health, my sense of self worth. I’d found her, and I’d latched on a bit, I admit, to her strength. She was an entrancing beauty, to boot, young and vibrant, and it had been easy to allow myself to fall into her shadow, to let her establish herself as the stronger partner despite her age. I was content to watch her bloom bigger and bigger and more gorgeous seemingly every day while I seemed to recede. But still, her words stung a bit. “I dunno, about that, real-”
With shower gel in her hands, she’d reached around and grabbed my cock with her left hand. If it wasn’t at full stiffness before, now it certainly was. My voice, stopped in my throat, became little more than a guttural whimper as lightning coursed up my body from her grip. She lathered up my erection, then her hand passed dutifully under my sac to clean me underneath.
“You were saying..?” she prompted me, a gentle squeeze to my testicles reminding me who was in charge.
Yeah, uh, nope. I was speechless, struck, and she knew it. My body quivered and quaked, threatened to collapse at the knees as she kept up the pressure on my tender gonads. She held me for a bit and then - pleased by my acquiescent silence - moved her hand back up for a stroke up my shaft.
“Good boy,” she purred.
Her big, slippery left hand worked my cock with slick expertise. She knew exactly how to keep me frozen, paralyzed, quivering at her touch. Her other hand, also slathered with frothy gel, now ran down my backside, under and then up, between the cheeks of my butt. I gasped, flinched, and tried to keep from crying out as she lathered me up in there as well. She ran her hand up and down, in and out, gently but with confident command, as her left hand still stroked my erection. This…that…this was almost too much. I writhed, twisted, and began to pull away from her.
"Ugh, such a squirmy wormy," she said, giggling. I could hear her eyes rolling in mock annoyance, and she gripped my cock tighter, to bring me to heel. "Will you settle down and stop being such a baby?” She paused for a moment, then, gears turning. "Hmm..." she said, a playful smirk brightening her voice, "Forget that. Give in to those urges.” She began to stroke my cock again, and her voice dropped to an indulgent, baby-doll coo. “You can be as much of a baby as you want,” she said, as if now talking to a small child, “I promise mama will take good care of you."
Did she feel me shiver? Did she feel me shake? She heard me whine, for sure, because she began to giggle. While her left kept a grip on my cock her right hand left my butt and she spun me around by the shoulder to push me against the tile of the wall. The stone, for the second, was a shock of cold. Hand still on my shoulder, leaning in over me, Melissa bent me at the knees a bit and then put her right palm on the wall above me. She dropped her shoulder a touch, bringing her huge right breast to bump into my face.
“Y-you have really big breasts…” I found myself saying, in awe at its size as she pulled it away, just a bit, so I could stare at its tumescence from below.
“Mmhm I do…” Melissa chuckled, her great, wet, pale breast wobbling with her laughter. It was, my god, maybe twice the size of my head, if not more. She waited for me to continue, to see if I had any other observations, but seemed to be pleased with the quieting effect it had on me. Hypnotizing, isn’t it little man?
Yes. I watched water streaming off it, water running over her shoulder from above, down her breasts, over her nipple in thick rivulets. I saw how her areola was swelling, the little bumps of Montgomery glands forming, her nipple thickening in the warm, warm water.
“oh my god….” I groaned, as I watched the dribbles, rivers.
“Thirsty?” she asked, from above, “Open up.”
Without a thought I complied, opening my mouth as she continued to stroke my cock below. Like a needy bird I eyed the warm water streaming off of her breast above me.
Adjusting her shoulder scantly, coming in closer, she directed the rivulets onto my face, splashing onto my forehead and eyes, running down my nose and cheeks. She shifted again, and I turned my head to the left, so her wet nipple now dribbled everything right to my open mouth from inches away. I gurgled, and took it, and swallowed.
“There you go, cutie..!” she giggled, and watched as I opened my mouth again for more shower water, warm from the rainhead, warm from her skin. “Drink up, that’s right, drink up…”
I held my mouth open, longer, longer, let it fill, until water bubbled out. Then I closed, gagging a bit into another swallow, warmth down my throat. I swear I tasted her in it, and I reopened.
She came in closer, dropping, bringing her nipple now right to my lips, to my open mouth. I closed, latching loosely onto her warm nipple, water still coming into my mouth from her areola, I sucked and drank the shower’s water now directly from her breast, from her skin. I swallowed, and gulped, awkwardly and clumsily. She pushed her engorged nipple more into my mouth, gently forcing it open further for me to accept her tit. The water was now dribbling around my lips as I let her push her nipple in. Whatever this was, whatever game she was playing, I was not resisting, I was only letting it happen.
Nipple in my mouth, I lapped at it, I suckled water from it. She took, then, the handheld spray and adjusted the stream’s volume so it gurgled water out rather than sprayed, and layed it atop her right breast, near her shoulder. Water now came down to me in a thicker flow, burbling and bubbling around my mouth, running over my nose and cheeks. She was giggling again, and I was sucking and drinking as best I could, mouthing at her nipple and gargling the warm water from it. It was thick with her pheromones, now I was sure, and instincts inside me made me latch on tighter, not wanting to ever leave this position.
“Oh, Jayyyyheyheyheyheyyyyyy…!” she giggled and purred, cooing down to me, trying her best not to just give in and squash my face with her tit, “You’re making me feel like a real mommmyyyyyyyyy…” Rather than plaster me with her breast, mush my head into the wall, she wanted to let me keep water-nursing, play-suckling from her. Go, baby, go, drink up, drink up from me. Her giggles had faded, replaced by little groans.
Water flowed into my mouth, when I would come for breath, and it gave me life. I drank, I drank and I suckled and drank. I felt Melissa starting to tremble in arousal above me and it was only then that I realized holy shit holy shit…her hand…her hand…I’m about to come.
I fought it back but nnngh oh my god I was close, it was coming. My hand reached for her, and found her womanhood between her legs. I cupped it, stroked up just once and then she shuddered. All it took was one stroke, fingers already soaked. She had been leaning forward more, now unable to keep her ample tits from plastering my head into the wall, and as I suckled water from her she was coming, orgasming, shaking and pushing me harder into the wall as she groaned. I came, then, too, in a burst and a muffled bark into her tit worried even in my climax that I might both smother and drown. Or I might be head-crushed to a pulp or fall to the floor as my legs trembled and gave out from under me. The weight of Melissa's chest was really the only thing keeping me standing. My panicked moans resonated through her boobs only increasing her pleasure as her hand continued to move firmly along my shaft. My jism had splashed first against her upper hip and thigh, a pulse, and then another and another and another, each washed down her leg by the water warm flowing down her, around us, down our bodies.
After a minute, a few wet damp tender moments in which we pleasured one another, my hand on her, hers on me, her breast in my face and nipple in my mouth as our climaxes waned, she pulled me away. Warm water still washed us as we basked in the afterglow, her hair was dark and wet over her shoulders and face. “Oh my God, Jay…” she breathed, chest heaving, looking down at me as if with new eyes. The shower wand had been dropped, forgotten, dangling from the wall on its chrome hose, gurgling out water still.
I looked up at her, blinking shower water from my eyes. I didn’t know how to react, I just looked at her. I was so scared of what this meant for our relationship.
“Stay here,” she said, finally, turning off the water and turning to step from the shower. She was retrieving two huge new, white towels from a rack on the wall. One she draped over my head and shoulders, its long folds reaching well down past my waist, while she dried herself with the other. Motionless I watched her, entranced by both the impressive muscles under her smooth, perfect skin and the soft contours and jiggles of her body’s curves. She finished with herself quickly, and then turned to reach down and place her towel around the one already covering me, wrap them both tightly around my entire body, my arms bound to my sides, until nearly all that showed of me was my face and maybe my feet sticking out the bottom. She then swept me up into her strong arms and carried me into the bedroom.
I know no man can really remember what it was like when he was an infant wrapped in blankets and cradled in his mother's arms. I certainly did not - I barely remembered my mother at all - and yet, completely swaddled in those huge, soft towels and cuddled securely against her naked chest with my head tucked against her strong shoulder, looking up in amazement at those beautiful, larger-than-life features looming so close above my own, that's exactly how I felt. Her smile was wide, warm, benevolent and in that moment I wanted nothing more than to be hers, to be held and loved and cared for by this magnificent giantess. That she seemed more than human, a goddess of power and beauty, was beginning to be less and less of an exaggeration. To have my body literally melt into hers and become one with hers forever would be a dream come true.
She carried me to a large, soft chair in the corner of her bedroom and sat down in it, placing me on her naked lap. With my head still tucked against her shoulder, my entire body still swaddled, she dried my face and hair with a corner of the towel. Then, as I fell deeper and deeper under the spell of the warmth and softness of her naked body, she dried the rest of me with little pats and hugs through the towels encasing my body.
“Do you see this, do you see how we are here, you and me?” she finally spoke to me, “This is right. This is how it’s meant to be.”
I looked up at her and blinked, unable to find any of the words I needed to say. I felt her left arm reach under me and lift. Cradling me now in her arms, she gently lowered me down to rest my head on her huge right breast. I looked up at her from her boob, my left cheek near her nipple.
“I could be good at this. I could be very, very good at this,” she said to me, adjusting my body in her strong arms, “All you need to do is want it, and let me grow. Let me grow into it.”
Did I know what she meant? Did I really know, understand, comprehend what she meant? I don’t know if I did, but I felt it. I felt the bond between us stronger now than ever.
“So is it? Is it what you want? Tell me. Tell me this is what you want.”
Of course it is.
“y-yes…” I said.
“Yes what, sweetie?” she prompted. She needed to hear me say it.
“this is what I want…”
“Good boy…” she nearly groaned, and - I feel it changing again, already, inside my body - turned my face into her breast. On instinct I opened, took her nipple in, and latched on….

i slowly opened my eyes, letting myself adjust to the light shining through the curtains. as i reached over to my side and didn’t feel anyone besides me, i sat up and glanced around the room.
he was standing on the balcony, cigarette in between his lips, staring in direction of the sea.
i slowly stood up, making my way out onto the balcony, next to him. my arms found their way around my - barely clothed - body. even if we were in a tropical area, the weather was not always the warmest in the morning, especially not if you go outside in panties and your boyfriend’s shirt.
“good morning, princess.” he said, turning around to kiss me.
i could taste the smoke as we kissed, his hand finding it’s way around my waist.
“you look so good in my shirt, babe.”
i couldn’t help but blush at his words. he never failed to make me flustered in seconds.
“want some?” he then asked, handing the cigarette to me.
i took it from him, putting it between my lips and taking a puff, pulling the smoke down, before breathing it out again. i repeated this a few times, before handing the cigarette back to him and letting a relaxing feeling take over me.
he finished it in a few breaths, putting it out in the ashtray and leaving it with the few other buds that we had left there already.
“let’s go back to bed, hm?” he asked.
as i nodded, he slid his hands under my thighs, lifting me up against him so he could carry me back to our shared bed.
he let me down onto the mattress, both of us getting comfortable together. one of my legs over his torso, head on his extended arm. his other arm placed on the back of my thigh, pretty close to my panties.
“did i already tell you how good you look in my shirts?” he asked and i nodded, breathing out a mhm.
he slowly leaned over to kiss me again, this time with more passion. his hands were holding onto me tightly as he lifted me on top of him.
he slowly bucked his hips up into mine as we deepened the kiss, tongues caressing each other. his hot breath fanning over my face, leaving goosebumps all over my body.
“baby…” he groaned against my lips, hands coming down from my waist to hold my thighs tightly as my body started tingling.
i breathed out a light whimper as he turned our position, him now hovering over me, staring at me with dark eyes full of lust.
“how should i fuck you today?” he asked, hand coming up to caress my cheek before holding my jaw softly.
i paused for a few seconds before i let my gaze fall onto the big glass window facing the beach. his eyes followed mine, taking in the beautiful view before turning back to me.
“want the whole world to see you belong to me, my little girl?”
a shiver ran down my body as he said that. ‘my little girl’… he never called me that before.
before i could forget, i responded with a breathy ‘yes’ and he lifted me off the bed easily.
he pinned me to the window, pulling the shirt i was wearing up over my ass and swiftly yanking down my panties. his fingers found their way to toy with my slit before pushing two in in one go.
“good girl…” he whispered into my ear, moving his fingers quickly.
my orgasm approached me quickly, tingling sensation spreading further through my body. i moaned as he applied pressure on my clit, rubbing in slow circles before smacking down lightly, making me jump and let out a whine.
“almost there, babe?” he asked, continuing to move his hand at a fast pace. i couldn’t say anything, just nodding at his words.
my orgasm washed over me as he landed a second slap onto my clit, legs shaking. i could hear a wet sound, looking down to find myself squirting all over his hands.
“that was… so hot.”

Traitor 2/2
Notes: GIF is not mine, all mistakes are my own, sexual themes (fingering), 18+ ONLY
--
Laying on your arm next to Alfie, you watch him sleep. His face mellows with sleep and for once, he looks peaceful. His forehead, that is normally filled with wrinkles of concern, is relaxed. Soft snores escape his lips. You loved his lips; you could kiss them forever and never get tired of their plumpness.
You noticed a redness of his skin along his beard line and ghosted a hand over it. He mentioned having sciata that would flare up in the winter and spring solstices.
But he didn't tell you about anything else involving skin. Maybe he just needs a good shape up. You can dig around and find your clippers and shaving kit from when you were a barber in your teens.
You're pretty sure you still have the touch- wait, Y/N. What are you thinking? You've only been seeing each other a week. You never get invested into a relationship early. That's what Aunt Poll always tells you.
Another voice in your head says, "But you never felt this way with someone before. You love him, you can't turn back now." You quietly roll over and stand from the bed. You advance to the balcony and embrace the soft sounds of the water in the bay.
The streets were empty and dim under the flickering light posts. You hear the occasional horse neighing in the distance and nothing else. You don't get this kind of peace and quiet in Small Heath.
Maybe you should run before it's too late. Before you turn into a lost cause. "Well I hate to break it to you, but you're already a lost cause." The voice chirps. "Fuck," you say to yourself, running a hand over your face.
You had no reaction when you felt his warm arms wrap around your waist. "Come back to bed, love." He says, his voice heavy with sleep. He presses a kiss on your left temple before resting the side of his face against it.
"I should know better than to get involved with one of our business partners." You say with a sigh but his hold on you never falters. "Is this a part of your plan? Seduce me so you can get closer to my brother?" You ask, turning around in his arms.
Fuck no. I wouldn't use you like that." "It's only been a week. We're still getting to know each other. You know how I taste but not what my favorite food is." "Duck. You like duck with mashed potatoes and a special gravy with a pinch of marmalade in it." He answers nonchalantly.
"How did you know that?" "I asked questions. I was going to make that for you for dinner tomorrow." You rest your head on his collarbone. "I'm sorry," "What do you have to be sorry for? You're looking out for yourself. I can't fault you for that. Now come to bed."
He takes your hand and leads you off the balcony. You lay down in the center of the bed and opened your arms so he would lay on your chest. He crawled between your legs with a grumble before putting all his weight on you. You squeak under the pressure and he slides over a bit.
You closed your eyes and attempted to fall back asleep but a certain part of you was throbbing harshly. "Is your cunt asking for attention, dollface?" "Just ignore it and go to sleep." "Absolutely not," "Leave it, Alfie. You're exhausted. It'll go away in a few seconds,"
"If my woman wants attention, I'm going to give her attention." He moved his leg so he could slides his hand in between your thighs and sink two fingers in. A breath hitched in your throat when he pumps his fingers lazily, immediately finding the right spot to send you over the edge.
You roll your hips to match his fingers and your orgasm washes over you with a final snap of your hips. Your body seized and a quiet whimper leaves when he pinched your clit after he pulled his fingers from you.
He licks your juices from his fingers with a hum in appreciation before draping an arm over your chest. The both of you fell back asleep soon after.
**
You were happy to say the least. You were very happy and your family could see it in your skin. Which in the end saved you from spectacles when Alfie turned on your brothers and got Arthur thrown in jail. Or so you thought.
You walked into the business to find it empty. Which was off, considering it was noon on a Friday. "What's happening?" You ask the group who were conversing in the center of the room. "Where's Arthur?" You add.
"Did you know this was going to happen?" John asks, standing from the chair. His cheeks burn red from anger. "What are you talking about?" "When you let Alfie Solomons between your legs, did he say anything about joining ranks with Sabini and throwing Arthur in jail?"
"He did what?" You look to Thomas and he downs the rest of his whiskey. "Do you know how we're going to get him out?" You add and Thomas shakes his head. "Not yet, no."
"You didn't answer my question," John says. "Have care how you speak to me. Of course I didn't know. You think he would be breathing if I knew what his plans were?" You snap.
"You fell for him, didn't you? You let emotions cloud your judgement." Thomas asks. You slam your hands on the table. "Look where your emotions got us? He got our brother thrown in jail and it got Michael in holding." "What? Michael's.." you trail off and look to Poll.
"I had no idea, Poll. I swear to you. I'll help in anyway I can to get him out, just say the word." "I don't need your help. You've done enough." She stands to put out her cigarette before bodychecking you as she walks passed.
You wipe away a few stray tears before leaving the business.
A few days after Michael was freed from being contained, you called a family meeting. This time you were the one that was pissed. You waited patiently for everyone, staring down at the white rum in your glass.
Finn sat next to you because he noticed your distress. "Is everything alright, Y/N?" He asked. "What I'm about to say doesn't pertain to you. So make it that it goes in one ear and out the other, okay?" He nods and you put a hand on his shoulder. "Good lad,"
Thomas was there and sat down at the table. "Y/N, I'm s-" "Shut up. It's my turn to talk." You stand from the table and crossed your arms. "You all are a bunch of hypocrites. You talk of me being blinded by emotions. You judge me for my choices of love." You start.
"Did I say anything when you fell for the British spy?" You tell Thomas. "Did I say anything when you fell for the town whore?" You tell John. "No, I didn't say a damn thing. But the one time that I let my guard down. The one time that felt genuinely happy and safe, the guy ended up being a traitor."
"You don't think I feel like shit that this happened? You think I don't feel any guilt for having an indirect involvement in Arthur being thrown in jail? I've committed those things to memory. I'll never forget about them. But I sure as hell didn't need the cold shoulder from any of you. Especially when I never did such a thing to you."
"Y/N, we realized that-" you reached inside the pocket of your jacket and pulled out an envelope. You toss the envelope on the table and said, "My letter of resignation. I refuse to be apart of a family who doesn't trust me. Lose my number. And when I get Arthur out of jail, he's coming with me. That way, you're forced to get your own hands dirty, Thomas."
"You're making a mistake. Sure we have disagreements, but that's doesn't mean we want you to leave." John says. You down the rum all in one go and held the side of Finn's face. "I'll make sure you get my new extension, alright?" "I'm coming with you," he stands from the chair.
"Absolutely not," Poll states. "I'm eighteen now, Poll. I can do whatever the hell I want." He says as he follows you out of the door.

"Fuck off," you tell Ada over the phone. "John has already fallen victim to these people. They're picking us off one by one and don't think that they won't come for you. Like it or not, you're still a Shelby." She explains. You look over your shoulder at Arthur who shrugs.
"What's the plan?" "We better the odds of surviving if we're together." "You mean you need me and Arthur to go back to our old selves. Well I tell you this, we're not unraveling everything we've ever worked for. Not for anyone." She sighs over the phone and adds, "We go back to Small Heath. Pack your things and get on the next train there."
You hang up the phone and turn around to see that Finn has joined Arthur in the living room. "We're going back home, aren't we?" Finn asks.
You remained silent and Arthur kneels in front of you. "What else did she say?" "It's John. He passed. And Michael is in the hospital with serious injuries." You explain, chills rolling down you spine at the thought.
"What?" Finn starts. "I'm sorry, mate. Come 'ere," he walks into your open arms and cries into your shoulder. "Whoever did it, will pay." Arthur says before leaving the room.
**
"Why are we here instead of Small Heath, Thomas?" You ask when you arrive at an oddly large house. "There's something that we have to clear out before we go to Small Heath." Thomas states. You, Arthur and Finn follow him to another room where Alfie sat and you froze.
"Fuck," Arthur states and Alfie turns his head. "Arthur!" he greets and Arthur's hand trembled with anger. "What is this, Thomas?" you ask. "Mister Solomons is still a business partner to Shelby Limited and we have business to discuss. Sit down."
"Arthur, Finn, go sit beside Thomas. Go on." You tell them and wait for them to follow what you said. "Arthur, just breathe." you state before sitting down next to Alfie. You hate yourself for relaxing at the scent of his cologne.
"Y/N," Thomas starts. "I'm fine," you cross your legs and smooth your legs over the fabric."What business do we have to discuss?" you add. "If we're going to defeat these wops, we need men. Mister Solomons can provide the men but he has a condition." Thomas explain.
"Alright, what's the condition?" "You," he says hesitantly. "Beg your pardon? I don't recall being a condition. I'm a human being, Tom." You snap. "What is it you want exactly?" You ask Alfie to find that he was staring at you the entire time. Admiring you.
"I just want to talk over dinner," "Just dinner?" "Yeah," "Please, Y/N. We need this." Thomas interupts and you send him a glare.
"When?" "Tomorrow night, I'll pick you up at noon. We'll spend the entire day together like we used to," "Going back to normal is not an option, Alfie."
"God, I missed you." You stand from the couch. "You make any kind of advances and I will slit your throat. I don't care what kind of agreement you have with Tommy. It's you and I that have bad blood." He used his cane to stand from the couch.
"I never expected it to be easy. But I will earn your trust back." "You hurt me deeply, Alfie. You'll never get the chance again."

________
“Jensen?” you said from the shower a few hours later. He hummed from the vanity where he was fixing his hair. “Are we going to a dress up kind of place for dinner?”
“A dress would probably be in order but something casual, like a summer one or something,” he said. “Like your white one with the little yellow flowers on it.”
“I bought that like three days ago,” you laughed. “You’ve never even seen me in it.”
“You gonna let me see you in it tonight?” he asked.
“Maybe,” you teased.
“I’ll leave it out on the bed,” he said. “Oh and a little something else I’d like if you put on too.”
“Did you buy me underwear?” you laughed.
“You’re gonna have to wait and see, sweetheart,” he said. “Just do what the note on the bed says, alright?”
“Alright, alright. I’ll play your game,” you said. You heard him leave and finished washing up, ducking out of the shower and working on your hair. It dried quickly thankfully and you threw it up into a loose pony tail, a few loose strands framing your face. You put on chapstick and thought about doing your makeup but decided against it. It wasn’t a fancy place you were going from the sounds of it and it was warm out which meant sweat which meant your face was going to melt off anyways.
In the bedroom you found your dress on the bed along with a strip of fabric and a folded piece of paper.
Get dressed and then put this on. I’ll be back soon.
“Well what are you up to Ackles,” you said. You threw on some underwear and a strapless bra, pulling on the short flowy summer dress and leaning back against the bed. You picked up the fabric and shook your head, tying it over your eyes before you laid back on the mattress. About ten minutes later the door opened and you sat up, Jensen chuckling.
“You look beautiful,” he said.
“What’s the big secret?” you asked.
“Oh, nothing at all. I am gonna need you to keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times mam,” he said before he was scooping you up. You threw your arms around him and he walked you out of the room, carrying you over to a quiet loft corner of the upstairs. “Stay put. I’ll be right back.”
You relaxed back into the lounger you occasionally found him hiding away in to take a nap or do some reading. You stretched out, hearing the floor creak.
“Ready to go?” he asked, picking you up once again.
“We’re not going out are we,” you said, holding on as you felt him walk you around and a door open, the air suddenly a bit warmer with a slight breeze to it.
“Oh we’re going out,” he said, setting you down, bare feet touching wood. He undid the blindfold and stepped aside. “Ta da. Your very own private rooftop dinner.”
You looked at the nice table he’d set on his balcony, string lights around you, a bottle of wine sat on a small table nearby along with a few covered trays. He smiled in his khaki shorts and light blue dress shirt, a light flush to his cheeks.
“It’s perfect Jensen,” you said. You gave him a hug and kiss, Jensen showing you over to your seat, sliding it in for you. “You did all this in an hour?”
“Well I started planning it a few hours ago. I ordered the food while I set this up and you take very long showers thankfully,” he chuckled. You looked around as he uncorked the wine, Jensen pouring a few glasses for the two of you. “Too much?”
“No. It’s sweet and romantic but not over the top and…” you trailed off as he set the bottle down. “I just really, really, love you.”
“Me too,” he said, kissing your cheek. “Let’s eat while it’s hot. I have other things in store for this evening after all.”
“Y/N,” giggled Jensen two hours later. “Y/N, you’re gonna get us in trouble.”
“Making out in the backseat was your idea I recall,” you said, nipping at his kiss swollen lips.
“I meant more the you jerking me off thing,” he said as he panted up at you. You cocked your head and grinned. “Oh you are so dirty and I am here for it.”
“Please tell me you have a condom somewhere in this car. I’ve never had sex in a car before you know and I really want to tonight. Like really, really, want to,” you said, biting lightly at his neck.
“Glovebox,” he said. You crawled over to the front seat and dug around, finding a few in there.
“Mr. Ackles,” you grinned over the back of the seat, holding one up. “You are not the sweet boy next door you pretend to be, are you?”
“You’re one to talk,” he laughed, shoving his shorts down and rolling a condom on. You climbed back over the bench and straddled him, Jensen moaning softly as you sunk down. You rolled your hips slowly, Jensen thrusting up. “Fuck. We need to have car sex more often.”
“Yes we-” you said before you both heard the very distinctive bleep from a cop car. Your eyes went wide and you scrambled to get off of him, Jensen yanking his shorts up. You saw an officer walking up and you threw your legs over his lap while he fixed his shorts. A knock came at the window and you rolled it down, an officer giving you a hard face.
“Anything we can help you with officer?” asked Jensen. The officer narrowed his eyes and you quickly recognized them when he shook his head.
“Jensen, Jensen, Jensen,” he said, Jensen sighing in relief. “Got a report of two people making out in an Impala. I figured some kids must have stolen my good friend’s car since Jared’s is sitting at home. I did not think you of all people-”
“Shut up,” groaned Jensen.
“Are we in trouble?” you asked. He shook his head and you smiled.
“If you want to make out or do whatever that condom wrapper is on the floor there for, just do me a favor and drive out of town a few more miles. They don’t give a shit about that sort of thing ten minutes over.”
“Duly noted. Can we get back to our business?” asked Jensen. His friend pursed his lips and Jensen pouted. “Remember that time I pretended you were sleeping over so you could go have a sleepover with-”
“Dude. I’m fucking with ya. Have fun. I’ll keep an eye out for a few minutes but then you’re on your own,” he said. “Later Jenny, Y/N.”
“Dick,” said Jensen, smiling as you rolled up the windows. “Where were we?”
“I don’t know. Jenny,” you said, grinning before he pulled you down, your back hitting the seat.
“Oh now you’re asking for it,” he teased, undoing his shorts.
“I’m shaking in my boots at big bad Jenny,” you said, Jensen shoving his shorts down. “So scary.”
“Call me Jenny one more time,” he said, pushing up the bottom of your dress. “I dare ya.”
“Jenny,” you said with a smirk. He leaned down and pushed your underwear aside.
“Gonna regret that,” he growled in your ear. He slid inside of you in one smooth motion, bottoming out and pulling out fast. He slammed in hard and you flew your hand against the door, holding onto his shoulder.
“Fuck,” you breathed out as he pounded into you. He’d never been so rough before and you were all for it. “You can do better than that Jenny. I know you can.”
“You asked for it,” he said, snapping his hips. You squeezed your walls around him, Jensen working on giving you a hickey.
“Is that all you got?” you said, wrapping your legs around him. He growled against your skin and grabbed your wrists, pinning them together against the door.
He thrust hard and you strained against him, legs letting go. You shut your eyes and felt him slow down before stopping completely.
“Honey?” he asked. You forced your eyes open, Jensen’s hands on your face. “What’s wrong? Did I hurt something?”
“Bad memory,” you said. He went to sit back and you shook your head. “No. I was having fun until you pinned me like that. Please keep going?”
“Alright,” he said softly. “I won’t-“
“No. Do it.”
“Y/N no,” he said. You grabbed his hand and placed it over your wrists. “Y/N.”
“I trust you. I want good memories and I want to have rough sex and if you scare me I’ll say so. I promise,” you said. He nodded and leaned forward again. He pinned your wrists over your head once more and picked up the pace, quickly falling back into a harsh rhythm. “Come on Jenny. Give it to me.”
He growled and thrust hard into you at a breakneck pace, your legs wrapped around his torso once more.
“I said-“ you got out before a low deep pressure in your core exploded. You gasped and keened your head back, Jensen grunting straight into your ear before he finally stopped, breathing hard. You stared up and took short breaths, Jensen’s hands wrapping around your back and pulling you up into a kiss.
“I love you so much,” he murmured.
“I love you,” you said, resting your head on his shoulder. “Thank you. That was intense but good intense. I felt safe with you.”
“No one’s gonna hurt you ever again,” he said. You gave him a hug he returned, Jensen holding you close. “Was that okay?”
“It was great. I’d love to see this side of you again sometime,” you said, kissing his cheek. “I’m sorry for teasing you though.”
“The Jenny thing? Nah, just a nickname from school. It don’t bother me. Just there’s this rule see only certain people can call me that or else things aren’t gonna end well for them,” he said.
“Am I one of these people?”
“Oh hell no. Not unless you want more of what you just got.”
“I’ll have to remember that,” you said. You felt him grow soft and start slipping out of you, Jensen helping you off of him. He removed the condom with mostly no mess and you stretched out.
“Do you wanna go for a walk? Downtown?” he asked. You nodded and he climbed in the front seat, driving the car away from the park and on a side street that was busier. You ducked out of the backseat, rubbing your arms in the cooler night air.
Jensen walked around with his hoodie in his hands, handing it to you. You pulled it over your head and smiled, Jensen taking your hand, tossing the condom in a trash can you went past.
“You know, you make me feel like I’m some kid in love for the first time,” said Jensen. “But we both know that’s not true but for some reason, I haven’t felt much like a 43 year old lately.”
“My brain is stuck on like age twenty,” you said.
“Same,” he chuckled. “Your head always stays young somehow.”
“So what do you mean by that not feeling age comment then?”
“I feel like some teenage kid that just wants to run off with you on a whim but I can’t exactly do that.”
“Yeah you can. We’re doing it right now,” you said.
“That’s not what I meant,” he said.
“I know. But the kids are always a positive to me. Sure we can’t run off for a week at the drop of a hat but most people can’t either. I know what I signed up for. I have to share you and be second fiddle sometimes and I’m okay with that.”
“Why though?” he asked. “Don’t you want to be selfish sometimes, just have it be us?”
“Sure but I don’t need whole days. Waking up with you, falling asleep, quiet cups of coffee or impromptu lazy days and dates, a moment here and there is good enough. I don’t need you to tell me you love me all day everyday. I already know so the moments, those are more than good.”
“People aren’t really like that,” he said quietly, shoving his hands in his pockets. “Not when they’re starting out in a relationship anyways.”
“Well I’ve only ever been in two serious relationships. One lasted a decade and went nowhere. The other one, maybe we don’t get everything two kids who are figuring it out for the first time do. But we get a lot of shit they don’t either. I don’t get bullshit. I don’t get games. It’s real and the fact you’re a father and have responsibilities and obligations that come before me doesn’t bother me. I love you and you make me a better person, a happier person. But I just don’t get the logic that I should want more when you can’t give it and I can’t take it.”
“Do you wish we could start from scratch though?” he asked. “Hypothetically.”
“Start from scratch when? You would have been thirty one when I was eighteen and I sure as hell wasn’t mature enough for an older guy back then. You wouldn’t be you and I wouldn’t be me, not these versions at least.”
“You don’t have it in you to be selfish and just say you wish things were different,” he said. You stopped at a corner and shook your head.
“Yeah, Jensen. If I had things my way, you would have zero idea I existed. You’d be with Dee on this date right now and not me,” you said. He crossed his arms and grabbed yours, turning you down the block again as you walked. “Jensen…we were having a nice night. I don’t want to fight.”
He stopped and walked your back against a brick wall, planting a fast kiss on you.
“Stop saying shit like that,” he breathed out when he pulled back.
“Shit like what?”
“Shit like you’re less important to me. What, cause I knew her longer I’m supposed to love her more? Cause we have kids she’s always more important and you’re the rebound? I hate when you say shit like that.”
“I’m sorry,” you said quietly, Jensen planting his hands on either side of you.
“I don’t know how to make you not think that. Because I know how I feel and it has ripped me apart thinking how wrong it was for me to care about you like I do. To love you as much as I do. Because it’s not less. It’s not more. It’s just different but the same and I need you to tell me how to make you believe me. Just tell me and I’ll do it.”
“You’re crying,” you said, wiping off his face. He straightened up and sighed, letting you wipe him off with the sleeves of his hoodie. You grabbed his hand and pulled him around the corner to the entrance of an alley, Jensen glancing down it.
“It’s not safe,” he said before you put a hand over his mouth.
“I did not say that to upset you and I don’t think what I said came out right. I know I’m not a rebound. All I was trying to say is if I could have stopped you from hurting so badly, stop the kids, stop everyone, from going through that pain, I would have. I’d let you go for that.”
“You don’t know how fucked up I was before you,” he said. He glanced at the street and sighed. “Y/N I act. I’m damn good at it. I can play the bad guy, the fucking cocky bastard, the hero. I can play any character that gets thrown at me. I can pretend to my friends and my family that six months after she was gone I was better. So I fucking pretended and pretended and every single moment was focused on those three kids and nothing else. Nothing mattered to me. I didn’t matter to me. But I needed to work again and I needed help and you walked through the front door and it fell apart. You’re one of the best things to ever happen to me.”
“Jensen…” you said, pulling him into a hug. You saw a sketchy guy cut through the alley, rushing over. “Fuck off! We’re having a fucking moment!”
The guy froze and stared at you, heading back the other direction.
“Did you just scream at a mugger?” asked Jensen, staring back into the alley as you tugged him back out into the light.
“Maybe. I don’t know. I...have you ever been to a therapist? Honestly?” you asked.
“No. I lied about that,” he said as he looked down. “I told my family that and they bought it.”
“Come on,” you said, taking his hand and turning around. “I want to take you somewhere.”
“Where?” he asked.
“Somewhere you can talk,” you said. “I promise.”
One Hour Later
“Y/N,” said Dr. Moseley. You scrambled from hanging your feet over the back of the couch and righted yourself, Jensen chuckling as he stepped out from the office into the lobby area. “Been doing that since she was a kid. Some habits die hard.”
“I think that’s just how she enjoys watching TV,” said Jensen while you hit the button on the remote. You stood up and Jensen looked a whole lot red eyed but lighter too. “I feel better. A lot better.”
“Y/N, your turn,” said Dr. Moseley and you stared. “You gonna call my office and ask for an emergency session for your fiance I’m not letting you slip out of here without a quick tag up.”
“Ugh,” you groaned. “I’m hungry.”
“Ten minutes tops,” said Dr. Moseley to Jensen. You padded into the familiar office, the door closing behind you. “So. How have things been?”
“I don’t know. Is my fiance alright?” you asked.
“Yeah. I don’t even peg him as a repeat customer. He does need to work on bottling things up though. I know you have some good tips for that,” he said as you nodded. “You look good. Things are more stable it sounds like.”
“Yeah. I dumped the loser. Sold a children’s book,” you said.
“Ah you loved drawing I remember. That’s all we did our first session together,” he said.
“You didn’t tell him, did you.”
“You didn’t tell him either,” he said. “I thought I’d never hear from you again.”
“You did say if I was ever in trouble,” you said, looking back at the door. “He’s okay?”
“Yeah. He’s getting close to the year anniversary of the death. It can be triggering to some. But I think with you he’ll be just fine,” he said.
“Thanks Ray,” you said, spotting the picture on the shelf behind him. “Shit, Georgie got big.”
“Well you haven’t seen him in nine years and he was ten last time you saw him,” he chuckled, pulling out his phone and showing you a few pictures. “Taylor had her twentieth birthday last week.”
“My soon to be step daughter’s is next week,” you said with a smile.
“Shit you all grew up fast. That’s what I get for adopting,” he chuckled to himself, taking a seat on the couch beside you. “Thanks for calling tonight.”
“I knew you’d help him,” you said.
“Sounds like he helps you too,” he said.
“He’s alright,” you said with a shrug.
“He’s a little old for you.”
“Mom was a little old for you,” you said, Ray smiling. “How’s Sarah?”
“Good. She asks about you every so often,” he said. “Asks if we made up yet.”
“We never fought,” you said. You looked down, Ray tucking a hair behind your ear.
“You stopped smiling when your mom got her diagnosis,” he said. “No matter what I did, I couldn’t get a smile back on that face.”
“Ray it wasn’t you,” you said.
“The way you lit up when you saw him walk out of this room...I don’t know how you got that spark back but I’m glad you found it,” he said.
“He has a lot to do with that,” you said. “The kids do.”
“I wasn’t in a great place myself when I met you,” he said. “God I did not realize-”
“When that snarky eight year old walked in you’d end up with her mom?” you asked.
“It was highly inappropriate,” he said.
“So is ending up with the dad you were nannying for,” you said.
“Mom would like him. He’s kind. Got a lot of love in there,” he said. “He said that thing she used to say to me.”
“I may have told him about the you can have more than one person thing.”
“She’d like him,” he said.
“Do you?”
“Yeah. I’d prefer you not end up with you know, a celebrity. But if you’re gonna be with one, be with that one. He stays out of trouble,” he said.
“Uh, how would you know that?” you asked.
“Sarah’s something of a...fan of his old show. When she saw you in the background of his instagram photo, I did a little digging.”
“Ray.”
“I care about you. Sue me,” he said. You turned and looked out the dark window. “It was good seeing you again.”
“You know you didn’t do anything wrong right?” you said.
“I know. You had to go and find your own way. I understand it. It doesn’t mean you can’t ever come back,” he said. “If you want that is.”
“Ray I’m not looking for a father,” you said.
“You don’t have to look at all,” he said.
“If you wanted in my life so badly you could have adopted me. You could have married mom. But you didn’t and less than two years later-”
“Your mother did not want to marry again and I didn’t adopt you to because you didn’t want me to.”
“Of course I wanted you to. You don’t need a fucking PhD to figure that one out.”
“No you didn’t. You told me yourself.”
“I was a pissed off, upset, hormonal teenager, Ray. I wanted the exact opposite of that. I wanted to know you loved me just as much as you did her and maybe you did but it left a mark and I left. You moved on and I moved on. Let’s be happy and forget about the rest, alright?”
“Alright,” he said as you stood. “If you ever-”
“I know. I can call you,” you said. He nodded and you went to the door, leaning your head back. “Maybe you guys can come over for swimming or something sometime.”
“You just said you moved on.”
“I moved on from being pissed off at you a long time ago. I have lived with a man that lost the love of his life for six months. Losing mom fucked you up just as bad and I was too young to understand that back then. But maybe we can do dinners every once in a while again, you know?”
“I’d like that,” he said.
“I’ll call sometime when things are a little slower for us.”
“Okay,” he said with a smile He got up and you paused, getting a hug from him. “He’ll be alright, needed to let it out, hear you’re not going anywhere is all.”
“Were you ever afraid of losing Sarah?” you asked. “You’ve been in his position before is why I ask.”
“People are different but yeah, when someone gets inside like that after you’ve suffered losing that before, it’s frightening. It can be debilitating. It can ruin things.”
“But you and Sarah got married and are still together.”
“Be gentle with him when he’s afraid. Comfort him but don’t coddle him. His fears will become manageable and quiet. He has fallen unconditionally in love with you knowing how much pain happens when it gets taken away. Part of him says run away and save yourself from it happening again. Part of him says she’s worth every second of that pain. It’s how I was. Just treat him normally and he’ll learn to live with it.”
“It doesn’t go away?”
“Has he ever been late coming home? Fender bender?”
“He got bit by a scorpion recently,” you said.
“Did you freak out?”
“On the inside,” you said as he smiled. “So that’s the cost.”
“The good times are worth the bad ones,” he said. “Go take him around the corner to Mort’s. They’re open until midnight in the summer.”
“Do they still do the peach cobbler sundae?” you asked.
“Oh yeah,” he said.
“Do you want to…” you trailed off.
“It’s late but I appreciate the offer. Another time for sure though. I have a soccer game to get ready for in the morning,” he said with a sigh. “I am so not coaching next year. I should have quit when Taylor graduated.”
“Yeah you will,” you said. “You were even my coach back in the day.”
“I still can’t kick the ball yet for some reason they want me to be head coach,” he chuckled as he opened the door. Jensen had his nose in the bookshelf, turning around with a curious look. “Y/N’s going to take you out for ice cream. Doctor’s orders.”
“Is this...Y/N?” asked Jensen, pointing at a photograph. Ray walked over and smiled as he picked it up.
“She was about ten years old in that picture,” he said, showing it to you.
“I remember that day. You puked on the ferris wheel,” you said.
“I don’t do rides well,” he said, putting it back.
“Wait I thought you were her therapist for all the crap that happened as a kid,” said Jensen, glancing at you.
“I was. Y/N’s mother felt after the adoption it’d be good for her, for them both, to have Y/N see someone,” said Ray.
“Oh. That’s nice you do like a fun day for your patients,” said Jensen. You rolled your eyes as Ray chuckled.
“Jensen. This is Dr. Moseley. Dr. Ray Moseley. My mom’s old boyfriend,” you said. Jensen looked at Ray and smiled.
“It’s nice to meet you,” said Jensen. “I’ve heard good things.”
“Well that’s always good,” said Ray. “I’ll see you two around sometime.”
“We would like that,” you said, taking Jensen’s hand. “Let’s let Ray head home. He’s got an early morning.”
“It was nice meeting you Jensen. Call anytime you need to, day or night,” said Ray.
“Thanks,” said Jensen. A few minutes later you were back on the street and walking down the block, Ray driving off in his car. “So the therapist you know from when you were a kid is Ray?”
“Yeah. It’s how they met. My mom wanted me to deal with the stuff my dad did. Ray helped me process and be a pretty normal kid again. He and mom hit it off. He was done for the first day they met he said. They got together after I finished up my sessions. When you started talking like that earlier and said you never spoke to anyone, I knew Ray could help.”
“Thanks,” he said quietly, letting you lead him towards an ice cream shop. You sent him over to a table out front while you ordered, returning after a moment with a sundae in a dish and two spoons. “I’m sorry, for lying about seeing a therapist.”
“Why did you?” you asked, taking a seat and handing him a spoon.
“It’s what I told everyone. People don’t worry so much,” he said with a shrug. “I...I’m normally the one that other people can come to for help. I’m not so good at asking for it. I got tired of everyone constantly asking me are you okay? Let me do this for you. Let me do that. I got it, you go rest. I wanted everyone to leave me alone and treat me normally again. Lying took care of that mostly.”
“Please don’t lie to me ever again,” you said. He nodded and you cocked your head. “You don’t have to talk to me but if you feel like you’re bottling stuff up to that extreme again, talk to someone. Please.”
“I will. I’m sorry for acting how I did earlier. All you were trying to say was you’d stop me from being hurt if you could and I twisted it.”
“Sounds like you untwisted it.”
“Ray was good to talk to. An objective third party telling you stuff puts it in perspective.” He picked at the sundae and smiled when he took a bite, going back for a bigger piece. “What’d you two talk about in there?”
“You. Me,” you said, getting a scoop of whip cream. “I told him maybe they could come over for a swim and dinner sometime.”
“He still loves you you know.”
“Yeah,” you said with a nod. “When things calm down, maybe…”
“Do you still love him?” You nodded and scraped away at piece of ice cream that was threatening to fall off the edge of the dish. “Do you think he’ll hurt you?”
“He had the opportunity after my mom died to adopt me. But he didn’t. It hurt that he didn’t. I got it in my head that he only cared about me for her and it wasn’t right but it’s what I felt back then.”
“How do you feel now?”
“I understand he was in pain and I was a brat that took all of mine out on him. I wish he had fought me harder on staying in a way. Let me know he did care.”
“Y/N honey,” said Jensen, leaning forward in his seat. “He has a picture of you in his office. I think you asked for your space and he let you have it. I think that was his attempt at saying he cared back then.”
“Which is why maybe...he can come back into my life,” you said.
“Whatever you decide, I’ll support it,” he said. “It’s not a simple decision.”
“No, I know he never stopped caring but he was the adult and I was the kid back then. I needed him to say stay.”
“Well, I know somebody who wants you to stay. Actually he’s not letting you go ever,” he said.
“Oh really?” you said, Jensen smirking. “Never ever?”
“Nope. You’re stuck with him for eternity. Sorry in advance for any future freak out sessions,” he chuckled.
“You were scared and a guy like you, I know you hate being scared. Freak out everyday and it still wouldn’t bother me,” you said.
“You’re similar though.”
“True but it works. I take care of you, you take care of me, we eat ice cream and make out in the back of your car and it sounds pretty good to me.”
“I like the way you think.”
Ten minutes later you were walking through downtown, Jensen’s hand holding yours loosely. You walked past a young couple, one of them carrying a sleeping toddler.
“You’d make a really cute baby,” he said. You looked over at him and smiled. “Not you you. I mean-”
“I know what you meant. How do you know if you’re ready?” you asked.
“You don’t. Not really. You can prep but you’re never really ready. I always thought you know, when you’re stable, mature enough, when you want it, then you’re ready.”
“I don’t think I’m ready to take care of an infant.”
“Haven’t you been a nanny to babies before though?”
“Yeah. But...the trying to raise a good person thing. A happy, good, kind person. I don’t know if I’m ready for that.”
“Says the woman who knows when a little boy is crying because of a tantrum and when he’s crying because something is wrong.”
“That’s different.”
“You’ve been doing it for months. I trust you with them completely, to make any kind of decision for them. They’re your kids too now.” You slowed your pace and he matched it, squeezing your hand. “You okay?”
“Yeah. Hearing you say that is nice is all.”
“Believe me. I don’t think anyone in the world could possibly love you more than I do but if anyone does, it’s those three kids,” he said. “They ask about Dee more again and it’s all smiles. They ask about you a whole lot. For some reason they’re convinced we went to school together and that’s where we met.”
“I’m gonna check that under you look good and not I look old,” you laughed.
“No, no you don’t. You’re the one getting carded still, not me,” he said.
“Remember that waitress that kept flirting with you at that restaurant in Toronto? That was fucking hilarious.”
“You thought it was hilarious. I was dying showing her my drivers license and showing her the math of how you physically could not be my daughter.”
“Boys hit puberty at thirteen though,” you said, Jensen shaking his head. “Oh come on. Don’t tell me a guy like you hit it in highschool.”
“I was about five four my first year. You so could have kicked my little shrimpy ass. It was super awesome when all your buddies are like, growing a foot in a month and getting muscle and starting to shave and I’m like, the hobbit.”
You laughed and he bumped your shoulder.
“I really wanted to play football in school but I was always way too small. It’s why I wound up in baseball. Plus I think my mom liked it cause it was safer.”
“Eh, but some of those guys peak in high school. You haven’t hit yours yet.”
“You talking looks or like life?”
“Both. I mean when the new season of The Boys comes out you’re gonna get exposed to a huge audience. You’re gonna get to act in like, oscar movie shit and stuff,” you said. He shrugged and you bumped him back. “You’re gonna do amazing.”
“I don’t care about being in that kind of movie really though. I want to do fun things, things that interest me. I’m very happy if my biggest role is Dean Winchester.”
“Well, Dean gave you the opportunity to play Soldier Boy and he’s gonna give you more choices. Dean’s probably what you’ll be known for but you have some more power now cause of that. Maybe even more power with Dean someday. Just do stuff that you want to from now. As long as it makes you happy at the end of the day, I’m all for it.”
“I’m gonna promise you right here and now I won’t ever be away for months on end. I was gone so much before. I like being home. I’m not going away for nine months of the year ever again.”
“It’ll work,” you said. “I bet you could get your own little show in town like Jared if you wanted.”
“I will take the role of dad and future husband for now,” he said.
“That’s a good role when you think about it.”
“Very good,” he said, leaning over to kiss your cheek. “What time is it?”
“About ten thirty,” you said. “Getting tired?”
“Band’s playing at a bar downtown, that one we heard that night you said I was your best friend.”
“Of course that is what you remember from that night,” you said, leaning against him. “They’re really in Austin?”
“Yup. You wanna go?”
“I’d love to.”
One Week Later
“Are we there yet?” groaned JJ from the backseat as Jensen drove through a suburb.
“We will be there in ten seconds,” he said, turning down another street before pulling into a driveway. “Go on and harass your grandparents.”
She unbuckled herself in the backseat and opened the door, dashing off and up to the house.
“What about you two? Ready to see grandma and grandpa?”
“I need to go to the bathroom,” said Arrow, kicking in her car seat. Jensen shook his head as you climbed out, undoing Zeppelin and watching him run across the grass up to the front door that was now open.
“Let Arrow go first buddy!” said Jensen as Arrow ran around the car and into the house. “The kid hasn’t had a drink all morning yet she pisses like a race horse I swear.”
“She did knock back about three juice boxes on the way here,” you laughed.
“Gotta cut that kid off at two,” he chuckled, going to the back of the truck. He pulled out his suitcase and the kids while you grabbed your own and the bag with JJ’s birthday presents. “It’s been a while since I’ve been here. Probably a year.”
“You okay?” you asked.
“Yeah. I’m good,” he said. You followed him up to the house, setting the presents bag down by the door, carrying the suitcases upstairs. “You can put the kids stuff in here. This was my sister’s room.”
“It’s huge,” you said, spotting the bunks up against the wall. “That’s really nice with the full size beds.”
“My parents re did it once there were grandkids and stuff for the holidays. We can stay in my old room,” he said, showing you across the hall. It was smaller and a bit plain but you did notice the cowboy blanket on the bed. He quickly grabbed it and bundled it up, opening a closet door and shoving it inside.
“Yours?” you asked, reaching out for it. He nodded and hesitated a moment before letting you have it. “Is this from when you were little?”
“Yeah,” he said as you saw how the color had faded away in some spots.
“Do you like to leave it here? We could bring it home if you want,” you said.
“I’m 43.”
“And…” you said, folding it and handing it back to him.
“I wouldn’t exactly say this goes with the master bedroom decor, would you?”
“Alright,” you said. “Seems special is all.”
He left it out on the bed as you looked out a window to the backyard, a few people out there along with the kids.
“Those your parents?” you asked.
“Yeah. That’s my-” he said before he let out a whoof. You turned and saw him tackled on the bed by a man and woman, both of them chuckling. “Guys, come on.”
“Relax, we’re just having fun, Jens,” said the man as he straightened up and Jensen sat up. “Hi. You must be the girlfriend.”
“Yeah. I’m Y/N,” you said, holding out a hand. You were surprised when the man and woman looked at each other and then gave you a hug. You returned it briefly, both of them chuckling while Jensen groaned on bed.
“We know all about you. Josh. Mack. Obviously you know doofus over there,” said Josh.
“Guys,” groaned Jensen.
“Calm yourself,” said his sister. “We’re saying hi to our future sister in law is all.”
“I hate this,” said Jensen, laying back and throwing a pillow over his face.
“He’s never been good with the whole introducing his girl to the family thing. Ain’t that right, Jenny?” asked Josh. Jensen sighed under the pillow and he rolled his eyes. “Well, you can lay there. We’re stealing her.”
“What?” said Jensen as Mackenzie pushed you out of the room. Josh whistled as he ducked out and pulled the door shut, holding it in place.
“Josh let me out!” said Jensen. “It wasn’t funny when I was five and it’s not funny now!”
“Believe me, it’s always been funny,” said Mackenzie to you, nodding at Josh as he pulled a headband around the handle and then over to a curtain rod at the window next to the wall.
“Joshua! I’ll call mom!” said Jensen through the door.
“We need five minutes alone with Y/N. I’ll let you out when we’re done,” said Josh. He stepped into the room next door, Mackenzie pushing you inside.
“Uh, what is this?” you asked, taking a seat on the bed. They looked at one another and shut the door. You swallowed but saw them both smile.
“Thank you,” she said, Josh nodding. “Jensen’s had a hard year and last time we saw him at Christmas-”
“He wasn’t doing so hot. He can act his ass off but he can’t pretend to us,” said Josh.
“He sounds...he’s always so excited to talk about you on the phone, even if we don’t know that many details. He’s always been a little vague but we know you’re the reason he’s doing so well.”
“So don’t worry about the nanny stuff or being the new fiance or whatever you’re worried about. We don’t get to see our brother that much but we like hearing him like his old self again,” said Josh.
“You guys really don’t have a problem with me?” you asked. “Like seriously?”
“You’re not like, crazy right?” asked Mackenzie. You shook your head. “So then seriously we don’t have a problem with you.”
“Thanks,” you said quietly. You tucked your hair behind your ear and took a deep breath. “I know I’m...not her. And I’m younger and I was the nanny and it’s really easy to assume things about me...I don’t want anything to come between him and his family and especially not have that be me. I know all of you took care of him and I want him to feel comfortable again, not get stressed out at seeing you guys.”
“He didn’t want to see us?” asked Mackenzie.
“He does. It’s a feeling I get from him is all. He loves me and I know he wants…me getting along with you guys is important to him,” you said.
“You can be part of this family too,” said Josh. “Really. We know it’ll never go back to how it was but we can have something just as good.”
“We do have one question though,” said Mackenzie. You smiled and nodded as she sat next to you. “Why do you like him? We think he’s horrendous but we get that people find him attractive.”
“He’s handsome but he makes me the happiest I think I’ve ever been in my life. Mine’s kind of been a cluster and he’s a good best friend to have. I just like him I suppose,” you said.
“Do you prank him?” she asked.
“Oh yeah,” you laughed, the two of them smirking.
“Yeah you’re cool with us,” said his brother. “Come on, let’s let the dork out before he calls mom on us.”
He stepped outside and Jensen huffed when Josh let him out.
“What did-” he said before you stepped over to Jensen. “Did they-”
“We had a little talk is all. They love you and so do I so there’s absolutely nothing to worry about besides the fact you can’t escape your childhood bedroom. We may need to consider getting a dog if that keeps up,” you said.
“Well...good,” said Jensen, crossing his arms. “And I’ll have you know, that headband has elastic in it.”
“The arms are for show,” whispered Mackenzie.
“You’re due for a noogie,” said Jensen, skirting past you and chasing her down the hall.
“You got any siblings?” asked Josh to you as Jensen tackled his sister into a bedroom. You shook your head and he smiled. “Well, this is about how it goes around here.”
“How often does she win? Having two older brothers and all.”
“More often than you’d think. Our brother in law is at work still but he’s always a wild card on if he’ll help us torture or not.”
“Ah so you’re all grown children, not just Jensen.”
“Pretty much,” he said, Jensen laying back in the hall. “Ready to go see mom and dad?”
“Not really,” mumbled Jensen.
“Time to face the music,” said Josh, pushing you down the hall and stepping over Jensen. He popped up to his feet and you headed downstairs.
“Hold up,” said Jensen.
“Tell him to calm down,” said Josh in your ear. You nodded and his siblings headed outside as an older woman came in.
“Hey mom,” said Jensen, getting a large hug from her when she spotted you both in the kitchen.
“You look so good! You got some weight back,” she said, Jensen sighing. “You were too skinny and you know it. You eating enough again?”
“Yes ma,” he said, shaking his head. He reached out a hand and you let him take it, his mother giving you a friendly enough smile. “This is Y/N, my fiance.”
“Fiance?” she said, looking you up and down. Something about it felt off though and you forced a happy look on your face. “The kids didn’t mention that.”
“It’s a recent development,” said Jensen as he squeezed your hand. “I know it seems a little fast probably but we’ve been together nearly six months.”
“Oh. So you got together not long after the holidays,” she said, a smile on her face but you both saw through it.
“Yeah,” said Jensen, his father coming in the back door with a water bottle. “Dad this is Y/N.”
“They’re engaged, Alan,” she said. “Isn’t that nice?”
“Yeah,” he said. “Donna you mind coming with me to pick up the food order?”
“We can get it,” you said, both of them staring at you. “We know it’s been awhile since you’ve seen the kids.”
“We’ll get it,” he said, voice not necessarily harsh but there was a firmness there you weren’t expecting. They skirted past the two of you and out the front door, Jensen watching it close.
“Why don’t you introduce me to the rest of the family?” you said.
“Sure,” he said quietly. “Right this way.”

Park Seonghwa
You two were out for a date. After finishing your dinner, both of you went out to the balcony of the noble restaurant you were eating at. You had a perfect view of the city, all the shining lights adding a magical feeling to it. Seonghwa was hugging you from behind, taking in the smell of your shampoo. „It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” A smile creeped on your face. „It is. Thank you for bringing me here, Hwa.” Now he was the one smiling. „Of course, honey.” He now placed a few kisses on your cheek. It felt so good, you didn’t wanted this moment to end. „Thank you, Y/N.” You slightly turned your head in his direction, wondering what he could be thankful for. „For what?” He chuckled, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. „Thank you for being here with me. I’ve never been this happy before.” Your face lit up within a second, eyes shining bright. He’s so cute! „You have no idea how much I love you, Hwa.” Another smile creeped on his face. He was about to kiss you but got interrupted by one of the waiters. „Sir, I will leave the bill on the front desk at the entrance, if that’s ok?” Both of you turned around to face him, then quacking out into a laugher. The waiter seemed confused, so Seonghwa was fast to speak. „Yes, that’s totally fine, thank you.” The waiter gave you a quick nod and left. You looked at each other again, grinning. „He really ruined the moment, ha?” You nodded. „I thought this only happens in movies.”
Kim Hongjoong
A slow song was silently playing in the background. Hongjoong and you lightly swung from side to side, him pressing your back against his chest. It was late at night and you two were finally having a romantic date together. The atmosphere was so relaxing, neither of you wanting this moment to end. Hongjoongs head rested in the crook of your neck, him placing a few kisses on your soft skin every now and then. Now, an hour has passed yet you two didn’t move nor said anything. Honestly, you didn’t had to. You don’t know how but you two communicated through out your minds. Slowly, both of you got tiered. Hongjoong raised his head up and took your hand in his to pull you into your shared bedroom. You two laid down and stared at each other in the eyes. Oh, how you got lost in this this men’s eyes. But it was not only you, Joong felt the same way. He loved your eyes, it was one of his favorite things about you. Reaching up his hand to stroke your cheek, a smile appearing on your face, signaling him that you were thankful for that. Well, you were grateful for everything he has done for you, most importantly for having him in your live. Yet another time at this lovely evening, none of you had to open your mouths to let the other know how much you loved and appreciated each other.
Jeong Yunho
You felt how two arms clung around your waist, while you were washing the dishes. The person behind you then placed a kiss on top of your head and pulled you closer on his body, a smile taking place on your face. „What’s wrong puppy?” You knew that the tall male behind you blushed at that, this happening a lot of times now. „Nothing, I just missed your touch.” You pulled one of your eyebrows up. „Oh? We had a whole cuddle session just a few minutes ago.” Now a laugh left your mouth, Yunho joining you in the process. „That wasn’t enough, I need some more. Now please beautiful human creature, hurry up so I can cage you in my arms for the rest of our lives.” You felt how a bright smile was still plastered on his face, even after speaking. Shaking your head, you cleaned the last few dishes, before turning around and looking straight into the eyes of the smiling boy. Honestly, every time you were with Yunho, you were too happy. Of course you sometimes were scared for loving him so much but you knew that he would never hurt you. Yunho is some that makes sure to show his loved ones, how much he cares for them. He slowly got near your face, making you close your eyes and wait for the kiss to finally appear. When you didn’t felt his lips, you opened your eyes again and started to pout, knowing it was one of Yunhos weaknesses. So, the tall male couldn’t hold back and gave in. Taking your head in his hands, he gave you a long and loving kiss.
Kang Yeosang
After a long and exhausting day, you entered your shared apartment and made your way straight into the living room. Yeosang was laying on the couch, watching TV and eating some snacks. Both of you stared at each other without saying a word. Short after, Yeosang broke the silence. „Hey. Rough day?” You nodded your head. When he opened his arms, you jumped strait in them. Finally getting comfy, you asked if you two could watch a movie. You didn’t had to ask twice, Yeosang immediately opened Netflix and searched for a movie to watch. Once he found one, he got up to get some food. Once he returned, he pressed play and went back to his spot. He tucked you in between his arms and legs, your back pressing against his muscular body. He randomly started to play with the hem of your shirt, now a finger tracing up and down your belly. You lead yourself further into Yeosang and closed your eyes right after, not really caring about the movie anymore. It felt extremely comfortable to lay in his arms that you drifted off to sleep almost immediately. A low chuckle left him when he realized what has happened. „You are really too cute for you own good, Y/N.”
Choi San
You were running as fast as you could, your boyfriend not that far behind. All nine of you kept on shooting each other with water. It was Mingi who suggested to play this game. It was a hot summer day, so why not play around with water guns outside? „Hey, that’s not fair! You can’t protect each other!” Yelled Wooyoung, pointing at you two. „Leave us alone!” Did you yell back, while trying to splash him. He was mad because you escaped from everyone. San made a hand sign to the annoyed boy, no one really getting it except him of course. I guess it’s a Woosan thing... Anyways, Wooyoung seemed happy with whatever San was signaling him and kept on playing. At some point, your protector was nowhere to be found. You tried to look for him while you run away from the rest but then realized that not only he was missing but Woo too. „Oh no, this can’t mean something good...” You whisper to yourself. Out of nowhere, your boyfriend tightly grabbed you from behind. „Got you! Wooyoung, now!” You didn’t really made out on what was happening, you only saw how Wooyoung appeared from behind a tree next to you and aimed his water gun on you. „Goodbye, Y/N-ah.” With a grin, he splashed all of the water at you. Once he was done, San let go of you and gave his accomplices a high five. „San! What are you doing, I thought we are a team?!” You were kinda annoyed, both of them bursting out into laugher. You stormed off to the rest of the group, who seemed to have given up already. „What’s wrong Y/N?” Hongjoong noticed that your mood has fallen. „San ditched me for that brat.” Everyone busted out into laugher, you included. When the other two approached, you immediately stopped. Wooyoung stuck out his tongue, while San sat behind you and gave you a tight hug. „Don’t touch me cheater!” Again, everyone started laughing. „Come on, don’t be mad at me, baby. I will buy you some ice cream, okay?” A smirked appeared on your face. Revenge is sweet Sanie... „Guys! Free ice cream for everyone!”
Song Mingi
„Mingi, I can’t breathe.” You squeaked out while he tightly hugged you from behind. „I can’t help it, I just missed you so much!” You chuckled while rolling your eyes. „It’s been two hours since we last saw each other.” The boy looked at you with his cute googly eyes, mouth lightly agape. „So what? That’s two hours too much! This is absolutely not okay, so let me hug you please!” You gave in, knowing that he will either put on more pressure or start to cry and since you wanted neither of these things to happen, you kept quiet. You don’t really know how long it has been since you two stood outside the garden of your shared home but it was getting dark and the air started to cool off. „Mingi, can you let go now, please? I think that’s enough for today.” He snuggled himself closer on you, not letting go. „Just five more minutes, okay? I wanna enjoy sunset with you. Look, it’s so pretty!” A laugh left your mouth. He’s just too cute and pure for this world. You did watch, until the sun completely disappeared. When it was completely dark outsides, you forced the giant boy into your house, him still clinging on you. Once you reached your kitchen, you asked him to leave you alone so you could prepare dinner. „I don’t want to let go, Y/N. Please keep cuddling me! You’re so comfy!” You finally turned around and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. „I promise I will cuddle you as much as you want once I finished cooking, okay? Now go and search for a movie that we can watch while eating, puppy.” You noticed the light tint of pink on his cheeks. Another one that gets flustered when being called pet names. Mingi obediently nodded his head and turned around to complete the task you gave him, patiently waiting for you to finish.
Jung Wooyoung
He was trying to teach you how to play a game on his ps4 and to his surprise, you were extremely good. „Whoa! How are you so good at this, Y/N?!” He asked surprised, raising his time a bit in the process. You turned your head around to wink at him, a smirk forming on your lips. You then payed your attention back on the TV and kept on playing. For the whole time, your boyfriend cheered for you. His arms were still tightly around you tho. At some point he leaned back, since you didn’t wanted to stop playing. Of course he pulled you down with him, you now laying on top him but still having a good view at the game. He started to get bored so he closed his eyes while softly stroking your belly. When he stopped, you looked back at him, finding him sleeping. You couldn’t help but smile at him. You finished the last round of the game and turned the TV off. Since you didn’t wanted to wake him up, you just snuggled yourself on Woo and pulled the blanket on your lap higher. Closing your eyes, you tried to sleep but opened them again when you felt his hand caressed your head. You tried to look at him but he stopped you by pressing you head on his chest. „Sleep. It’s late and you promised that we will go to the amusement park tomorrow.” You scoffed with a smile on your face and gave him an okay. It didn’t take long until both of you fell asleep.
Choi Jongho
„I mean, I’ve putted so much effort in this! I really don’t know why it didn’t work out. This is so unfair, like I-“ „Pshh I know Y/N, I know. Clam down. It’s not worth it to get upset about this, things like that can happen but still you can be proud of yourself because it’s such a big step to even get it done so far. It might doesn’t look like the one you wanted to creat but it’s still extremely pretty. It’s just the left arm side that’s a bit messed up but nothing too tragic, so chill. You can only do a good job when you’re relaxed and free, so take a break, okay?” You nodded your head in agreement, thank him by smiling. He then moved closer to you and hugged you from behind, the dress you were working on standing in front of you two. You worked so many hours on that dress, it costed you so much effort and yet you still messed up. It was only one damn cut. Jongho pulled you out of your working room, you still between his strong arms. „Put your shoes on. I think it’s better to go out for a walk, to get some fresh air.” You actually didn’t wanted to but I guess you have to because he sure won’t let go of you anytime soon. „Can you let go till I put them on then?” He smirkingly shook his head. „Nope, I won’t let go of you.” You rolled your eyes, trying to put your shoes on. Once you were done, the male grabbed your waist and legs, now carrying you out of your shared apartment. Oh this boy...

In the Steel Steeds Heart
Chapter 24: Slip of the Hand
Warnings: strong language, sexual themes, blood/gore, stitching/medical instruments, knives, sickness, light body horror
Summary: Juniper picks up an old hobby while Heisenberg makes a big mistake while working on a long-standing one.
Feedback appreciated, 18+. Sorry it’s slower everyone I’ll start posting a bit quicker next month
Juniper sat on the balcony, the sunshine warming her enough to be comfortable. In the recent weeks she and Heisenberg went back to damn near normal, or as normal as their life had ever been given the circumstances. She was fully healed and feeling bright and chipper.
Heisenberg even started to call her newer nicknames more often: like wifey, love and his Mrs.
Juniper got back into making sketches. She was very rusty and most pictures looked little more than doodles but it brought her joy. Heisenberg even found her a whole stack of empty notebooks.
She was using one of them, drawing a sketch of a raven. The bird of interest was sitting on the balcony ledge, watching her with bright eyes.
It cocked its feathered head, making curious gurgles as she looked between it and the paper.
“You are such a pretty bird.” Juniper complimented, earring a throaty little trill in return.
Juniper’s pencil scratched against the paper, “Just like that.” She cooed, “You’re being such a good bird.”
She concentrated on the drawing for a short while longer, looking up at her muse. Eventually she was happy with the finished product, shading in the feathers with the pencil.
She turned the notebook around, showing her work to her subject. “Do you like it?” She asks, holding it before the Raven.
The bird gave a little hop, almost in surprise, leaning in a bit to look over the portrait. It gave a throaty croak of approval, ruffling its feathers.
Juniper giggled, “Thank you!” She turned to look at it again, happy with her work. She closed the sketchbook, standing and stretching a bit.
“You were radiant.” She complimented the bird, reaching out a hand slowly towards it. The raven allowed her to give it a soft stroke down its onyx feathers, closing its eyes in contentment.
Juniper said her goodbyes to the bird, collecting her supplies and heading back into the factory.
The raven sat for a long moment, watching the closed metal door before hoping off into the air. It gave a few strong wing beats before it disintegrated into a moldy cloud, done with its tasks.
Unaware of anything amiss Juniper put everything away, tiring her hair up in preparation to find Heisenberg. She knew he was finishing up a Soldat, so wanted to give a hand if needed.
~
The smell of blood and oil stung Juniper’s nose as she neared the lower workshop. As she opened the door the smell grew so strong it almost fogged her senses for a moment.
Her stomach clenched, taking over the scene.
The most recent soldat was on the floor, head crushed into a bloody pulp. Dark liquid oozed out of it, mixing with the iridescent swirling of oil and the bright crimson of fresh blood.
Fresh blood?
Juniper’s eyes widened, seeing blood drip from one of the creature’s many drills. Her eyes followed the splatters until they found the source.
Heisenberg sat in a chair, eyes dilated and chest heaving in short strained breaths. His arm rested over the nearest desk. A deep gash ran the length of his forearm, alabaster peeked through the flesh of the bone within.
The wound welled blood across the table, staining papers and dripping onto the floor. Juniper saw medical supplies haphazardly around his vicinity, where he attempted to mend himself before the shock set in.
She rushed over to him, touching his face, trying to keep panic from overtaking her.
“Heis..honey can you hear me?” She asked, “You need to breathe.”
His eyes flicked over her face, jaw tight as he huffed out of his nose. She saw blood pulse from the wound as his muscles twitched.
Scrambling to get clean gauze she soaked it in healing fluid before pressing it over the wound.
Heisenberg took a sharp intake of air, pain rippling through him.
“Hold this.” Juniper took his free hand in her own, guiding him to press the gauze over the worst of the wound.
He complied, still looking forward, almost unseeing.
She looked around the mess, not seeing what she needed. Rushing to one of the supply cabinets she found thread and a medical needle. She’d only done things like this on dead bodies, never being taught the intricacies of mending living flesh.
Juniper hoped that her lack of skill would be enough for his healing abilities to take over.
Returning to him, the pressure he’d placed on the wound slowed the bleeding slightly.
“Still with me?” She asked, moving his hand away to clean the wound.
She saw his pale eyes shift to look at her for a brief moment before returning to their ordinal position.
“This is going to hurt.” She warned, threading the needle. She tried to pull the ragged flesh back together the best she could, sinking the needle in to make the first stitch.
He groaned, moving a bit. Juniper angled herself to hold him still as she worked. With shaking hands, she kept stitching up his arm, it becoming more difficult as she neared the worst of the wound.
“B-Butter…cup?” Heisenberg’s voice wavered, shifting a bit.
“Stay still.” Her tone was warning, “I’m trying to fix you up.”
She was able to close the wound, frowning at the divot left in his arm from the loss of muscle in the area.
Juniper cleaned the area more thoroughly, dabbing more healing salve over it.
The stinging sensation sobered Heisenberg’s mind ever so slightly.
“Breathe.” Juniper instructed, finding clean gauze. When she began to wrap his arm he was able to speak a bit to her.
“What happened?” She asked.
“Ba-bastard woke up…” he managed, “…too fast, di-didn’t real-ize…”
“It’s alright.” Juniper soothed, taping down the end of the wrapping, “Can you walk.”
Heisenberg swallowed hard, unable to answer.
Juniper stood, helping him to his feet. He swayed heavily, leaning on her. She grunted, getting his arm around her shoulder for support. It was hard getting to the elevator, his feet like concrete. But she was finally able to get him back to the apartment, sitting him on the bed as she took off his necklaces and boots. His glazed eyes watched her wordlessly.
She helped him lay back, covering him up so he could come down from the shock. His good hand clutched the wrappings of his opposite arm.
Juniper sat on the edge of the bed, reaching out to smooth hair from his face.
~
Heisenberg woke up in the bed, it was dark and his arm ached terribly. His memory was hazy at best, the soldat scraping his bone was the last clear thought. It wasn’t the worst thing he’d endured, but he honestly expected to wake up on the shop floor like so many times in the past.
His hand found his injured arm, fingers tracing gauze.
How the fuck had he managed that?
He tried to sit up, a painful spike jolting through his head. His mouth felt dry and a migraine was threatening him.
“Fuck.” He cursed, falling back onto the bed.
Soft hands found his face, and under the blanket of pain he didn’t realize their owner right away.
“Karl?” Came a sweet voice.
“I’m…f-fine.” He answered, blinking up into glowing green eyes. He winced as another ripple of pain wracked his brain.
“You’re a lying bastard.” Juniper’s lips pursed.
He tried to give a tight chuckle, “Tell me something I don’t know sweetheart.”
He felt her leave the bed, his mind clearing slightly.
Her finger lightly tapped him, rousing him to look. She offered him a glass of water.
“You’re dehydrated.” She said matter-of-factly.
He sat up enough to take the glass, downing it thankfully.
The liquid helped, allowing him the small mercy of thought. “Did you?” He gestured to his arm.
“Mhm.”
“Damn…thank you.”
“I cleaned a lot of the blood, but I couldn’t do much about the soldat.”
“That’s fine, I’ll toss him to the Lycans.” He shrugged. He sat up more as she settled on the bed near him. She made a sound as he ripped the gauze away from his arm. He looked over the rough stitching, “Well it’s together.”
He lifted his hand, one of the kitchen knives whizzing through the air, one of the lights flicking on.
“Hey!” Juniper’s stomach clenched when she saw him angle the tip of the knife into the stitching, “What are you doing?!”
“Shut up.” He grumbled, snapping the stitching, pulling them out with small winces. After he was done he showed her his arm. She made a small mummer of surprise.
The gash was now bright pink, in the earliest stages of scaring. It would be a bit more ragged than most of his but it was definitely healing over.
“Already?” She almost gasped, reaching out to delicately touch the new tissue.
“Ain’t my first rodeo, buttercup.” He gave her a toothy smile, “And ain’t my worse fuck up.”
“I didn’t think it would be so fast.” She admitted, meeting his eyes again.
He set the knife on the side table, “It usually is as long as it’s not too extensive. If you help it along with what you did, for example, even bad shit can heal within a day or two.”
“Like can you regrow limbs?”
“I’m not a fucking lizard!”
“If you still had the limb?”
“If you're fast enough, and get it back together right, it would probably heal.” He frowned, “I’d rather not test it….my intestines hitting the floor was the worst I’d like to deal with.”
Juniper’s eyes were the size of saucers, making Heisenberg bark with laughter.
“It was a long time ago, don’t worry about it.” He shrugged again.
“Don’t worry about it??”
“I was younger and thought my cock was big enough that I didn’t need to be careful.” He smiled, “I learned my lesson….mostly.”
“Hmmm.” She frowned.
Heisenberg eased back into the bed, his muscles still aching. He’d lost too much time with the current soldat now being a wash. Juniper watched him, knowing that look of determination that spread across his feathers.
She clung onto him.
“Rest for a bit longer.” She nuzzled into him, “You’re still healing.”
He snorted, “I don’t need rest for healing.”
“Please stay.”
“I’m behind schedule already, kitten…”
“Just a few more hours?” She begged.
He gave a deep sigh, feeling the tug of the warm bed and Juniper’s even warmer snuggles. “Just a few hours.” He pressed.
Juniper wiggled with victory, cuddling deeper into his side. He wrapped an arm around her, smiling when he felt her relax into the contact.
They settled into a much more restful sleep.
Something felt wrong the moment she woke up that morning. Heisenberg had long since gotten to work, he had to trash the old soldat and start prepping the next. But him being gone was not unusual.
Juniper went about the beginning of her day normally, trying to ignore the churning in her gut. The feeling worsened as she descended the elevator, the heat making her head swim.
As she came through the door to the workshop, the smell of organs and old blood hit her nose. It was a smell she was long since accustomed to. At least she thought she was.
Her stomach suddenly clenched and before she could react she curled forward, vomiting onto the shop floor.
Heisenberg looked up with alarm, dropping the liver back into the cadaver’s abdominal cavity.
“Shit, are you ok doll?” He asked suddenly, ripping off his soiled gloves.
Juniper’s head pounded as her body shivered with another round of vomit. Saliva dripped down her chin as she looked shakily up at Heisenberg, tears burning her eyes.
He helped her into a chair, handing her a bucket.
“What’s going on?” He questioned worriedly, putting a hand to her forehead. She wasn’t hot, no fever.
“I don’t know.” She shook her head, holding the bucket to her chest, “I felt queasy when I woke up.”
“Hmm.” He frowned, “It’s probably the cadou.”
Juniper remembered the night she stayed by Heisenberg’s side when he was sick.
“What do I do?” She asked, feeling another bout of nausea wash over her.
“Wait it out.” He said frankly.
She gave him a narrow look before retching again.
He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly until she was able to speak again.
“Let’s get you back upstairs.” He helped her stand.
Once she was back in the apartment, Heisenberg got her a fresh bucket and a glass of water. “You take it easy ok.” He pointed to the bed. Before she could protest he placed a walkie talkie on the bedside table, “If you need anything just call.”
The rest of the day she focused on staying hydrated, the feeling washing back away like the tides of the sea. It never quite left her, however, not being a brief bout like Heisenberg was accustomed too.
It was all very puzzling to Juniper…

A Lantern’s Rage PART 1
Inspired by @cornholio4‘s Red Lantern Prompt
Next
Trigger warnings: mentions of mild gore, death, bullying, suicide baiting
______________________________________________________________
The park was empty save for Marinette, who was sitting on the edge of the fountain. Staring at the beautiful scenery around her. ‘Today’s so beautiful. I should’ve brought my sketchbook.’, she thought as she looked at the flowers in front of her.
“-nette! Marinette!”, Tikki said loudly, Marinette sat up straight out of surprise, “Were you even listening to a word I said?” The annoyance in the tiny goddess’s voice was clear.
Said teen girl gave an apologetic look to the kwami, she received a glare from Tikki. Marinette groaned, “I’m sorry Tikki, but this isn’t the first time I’ve heard this speech. Can you forgive me if I’m a little tired of hearing, “Lila’s a liar, but you have to be the bigger person. Even though she is destroying your social life and leaving terrible reviews on your family’s main source of income!” She threw her hands up in the air and gave a tired sigh.
“No. You’re right Tikki, I have to suck it up for now. Anything I say against her backfires either on me, or Ladybug.”, She frowned, and clenched her fists. “You’re right.” She looked down at her hands and quickly unclenched her fists. She looked back down to her purse, Tikki placed her paw on Marinette’s hand. “I’m sorry Marinette, but if you get upset then you’re at risk for akumatization. And then t-”
“There would be no one who could purify my akuma, dooming Paris to Hawkmoth’s wish. Whatever it may be.”, Marinette said in a monotone voice, she moved her hand out of Tikki’s reach. “I know Tikki, I have to make sacrifices for the greater good.” She frowned.
“Hey, do you smell smoke?”,she asked Tikki, she looked around and spotted a giant cloud of black smoke. She gasped, “Tikki spots on!”
The bright pink light of the transformation overtook her body, and when it disappeared, she was Ladybug. She threw her yo-yo at a nearby lamppost and when it went taut, she was launched into the air. She landed on a nearby building, equal height to the smoke so that she could see the building that was on fire. She gasped, and fear filled her body.
It was her home.
She landed on her balcony and rushed to her parent’s room, it was empty. She ran down to the living room, there on the floor was her dad. There were visible burns all over his back, she ran over to him. Her heart rate quickened as she hoisted him over her shoulder, she grunted as she walked over to the kitchen. Where she found her mother sitting at the table, her face on the table. She looked to be in the same state as her dad, burns all over her back and arms.
Marinette ran over, and lifted her mom’s body out of the sitting position she was in, and threw her over her other shoulder then ran downstairs to the door. She kicked the door open, breaking it and ran outside where the fire department was trying to put out the flames. She threw her yo-yo up in the air and shouted, “Lucky Charm!”
Out of the sky fell a small object that was in her awaiting hands. It was a ladybug spotted wrench, confused she looked around and spotted a lone fire hydrant that wasn’t being used right in front of her house. She called for an EMT to come over, they ran over and helped to gently remove her parents from her shoulders. Once her parents were safe she ran over to the hydrant and used the wrench to remove the outlet cap.
Out came gallons of high pressurized water aimed straight at the fire. There was a lot of steam, which created a thin fog. It blurred her vision, luckily to not to where she couldn’t see. But, the water wasn’t having any effect? It’s not an akuma, because if it were Tikki would’ve sensed it. She frowned, there was steam but the fire stayed the same, how? This fire wasn’t normal, or was it because she was using miraculous magic during a non miraculous related event? She narrowed her eyes, if that was the case then that would explain why the water had no effect.
She grabbed the wrench and tossed it into the air, “Miraculous Ladybug!” The magical swarm of ladybugs appeared out of nowhere and surrounded the still gushing fire hydrant. When they disappeared, all that was left was the fire hydrant, just as she had found it. “Of course I can’t save my own home!”, she grit her teeth and clenched her fists.
She turned her head and watched as her parents were now being looked over by the EMTS. “Ladybug!”, a familiar voice shouted, she turned her head and saw the fire captain running toward her. She got onto her feet, “Fire Captain Hessenpy, any idea on the cause of the fire ?”, she asked.
“No Ladybug. I saw what happened with the fire hydrant. Is this the result of an akuma?”, he asked. She shook her head no.
“I haven't received an alert on the Ladyblog or heard anything from the news. So I don’t think it’s an akuma, but this fire...it’s not normal.” Hessenpy looked behind her, “Oh no.” Once those words left his mouth, Marinette felt the world stop. It felt like she was moving in slow motion as she whipped her head around to look at what he was looking at. She froze.
The EMTS were carting away two body bags into an ambulance.
She watched as the ambulance doors closed, and the vehicle began to drive away. The lights were on, but the siren was silent. She felt the world start again, and she threw her yo-yo at something. She didn’t know where she was going as she flew through the air, but she didn’t care. Where could she go? Her home was destroyed. Her parents...are gone. She was alone.
She landed on the dock by Luka’s house boat. “Spots off.”, she muttered. The pink light of the miraculous washed over her, and Tikki flew out of the earrings. “Mari-” “Not now Tikki.”, was all she said. “Not now.”
Her eyes began to water as she realized what she just witnessed, her shoulders began to shake and she began to cry.
Line break
It had been a day since the fire, and Marinette was staying at her aunt Nadja’s guest room. Apparently, her parents and Nadja had an agreement just in case something like this happened. She was grateful to have a place to stay, but what else was she supposed to feel?
Marinette threw herself onto the makeshift bed she had been given. She sighed, and curled up into a ball. Ever since she pulled her parents out of the fire, she’s been numb. Yes, she had spent a good day crying when the reality of what had happened set in. And it was during that day that she realized something, if the Fire Department had gotten there earlier, or actually tried to get into the house. Or if the miraculous cure didn’t only work on Miraculous related damage. Maybe, just maybe her parents would still be here.
She could hear her phone vibrate, she reluctantly got up and stretched out to grab her phone from the coffee table. She grabbed it, and turned on the screen.
Alya: Unlock to read message.
She typed in her password, and her phone opened up the messaging app.
Alya: Hey, I know this is a tough time for you right now. But me and Nino are here for you, please don’t shut us out right now. We might not know exactly what you are going through, but we are your friends. If you're hurting, we’re hurting. We just want to help, if there is anything we can do to lessen the pain, we’ll do it.
Marinette smiled slightly, as she read the message. She looked around the room she was staying in, this confined space was making worse without her even realizing it. “Marinette?”, Tikki said. Marinette turned to look at her, “What are you going to do?”
Marinette looked back at her phone, she closed the messaging app. Her homescreen stared at her, it was her family at last year’s Christmas tree lighting. Her parents smiling faces bore into her, “I’m going to school.”, she smiled at the picture. “Maman and Papa wouldn’t want me to be moping around. They’d want me to celebrate their lives and live mine knowing they love me and they’re in a better place now.”
She stretched her arms out and walked over to the closed curtains keeping the room dark, she threw them apart. Light burst into the room chasing away any darkness and keeping it at bay. She let the sunlight warm her body up and took a deep breath. “Let’s go to school, Tikki!”, she grinned at the kwami who smiled in return.
She shrugged off her pajamas and slipped into some clothes Nadja had bought her. Then opened the door to her room and took a step out the door with one foot. She took a deep breath and stepped with her other foot. Ok, she was out the door, no turning back now.
She walked downstairs, and from the bottom of the stairs she saw Manon sitting on the couch watching TV, a disney movie from the look of it. She didn’t know if she should say anything or take this as a sign to run back to the room. She twiddled her thumbs nervously, Manon still didn’t notice her so it would be fine if she just walked back up the stairs and hid in her room.
Right? No one would know. She took a small breath and was about to walk back up the stairs when a voice said, “Marinette?” She stopped and turned her head to look behind her. Her aunt,Nadja ,was standing at the top of the stairs, looking down at her with surprise. That immediately got Manon’s attention, “Marinette!”, came a cheerful cry from the little girl. “You’re awake! Mommy said you were tired and to leave you alone, but you're awake now! That means we can play!” Manon launched herself at Marinette’s leg and clung to it like a vine. Marinette tensed up, “I-”
“No, now's not playtime Manon.”, Nadja said, “Go get ready for school, Marinette and I have to talk.” Manon groaned but stopped when she received a look from her mother, she begrudgingly let go of Marinette’s leg and began her trek up the stairs.
Once Manon walked out of earshot, Nadja gently grabbed Marinette’s hand. Marinette looked into her aunt’s eyes. She looked like she hadn’t slept, and her eyes were red and puffy. “How are you feeling?”, she asked. Marinette looked down at her feet.
“I’m...keeping it together.”, she replied. Nadja pulled her in for a hug, and Marinette immediately returned the hug. She rested her head against the older woman’s chest and tried to keep in her tears. The longer the hug went on, the harder it was to not cry. “I-I just thought….If-...I could get some sense of normalcy i-if i went to school and pretended that when the days over I would go home and...and I could pretend this whole thing never happened!”, Marinette sobbed, she clung to Nadja and just cried.
Nadja’s shoulders began shaking, and every other second Marinette could hear take in a small breath. Her arms around Marinette tightened and the teenager realized that her aunt was crying. Together they cried, standing on a flight of stairs.
“Mommy! Marinette! Stop! You can’t be sad!”, Manon cried out as she ran down the stairs to launch herself at them. “If you’re sad then Hawkmoth will get you!” Nadja immediately broke the hug and quickly wiped her tears away. Marinette did the same, rubbing her face.
She can’t even grieve over her parents death? What kind of world is this? It made her feel a little angry at the thought of it. She can’t even cry or feel angry because some masked lunatic might use her emotions to try and hurt Paris! It- No, no negative emotions! Be positive Marinette!
“We’re not sad Manon! See! Mommy was just hugging Marinette!”, Nadja smiled at the child and picked her up. “So you’re ready for school Manon?” Manon nodded her head and looked at Marinette, “Are you going to school too, Marinette?”, her eyes full of curiosity and hope.
She felt a twinge of anger and jealousy at Manon’s innocence. “Yeah...I’m going to school too.” Nadja gave her a look that asked, “Are you sure?” Marinette nodded her head.

Bucky Barnes x Reader-The Lost King(Royal AU)
A/n: This is my second entry for @girl-next-door-writes bingo writing challenge (this is probably one of the longest fics I’ve written) I hope you all enjoy it!!
Streams of sunlight began to flood into the room, the brightness of the light causing Y/n to stir in her sleep as her eyes fluttered open. Normally, she’d marvel at what a beautiful morning it was but today was different. Today, she couldn’t help but feel the dull ache in her heart as she turned to see Bucky sleeping peacefully beside her. Lightly she caressed his face, careful not to disturb what was bound to be the last peaceful sleep he’d have for a while. She tried to push the fear and worry that filled her head but in truth she was terrified, the war between their country and King Schmidts had grown fiercer and bloodier over the past few days. Bucky, wanted to show a display of hope and strength to our people and was going to ride out to the battle with a large number of soldiers in just a small number of hours. Of course Y/n supported his decision, she knew it would give their people hope, hope which so desperately needed to be shown in these dark times but she knew what Kinf Schmidt and his men were like from the reports she’d read and the gossip that swam round the castle; these people were cut throat, ruthless and bloodthirtsy. She knew Bucky was a talented fighter, there was no denying that but still the fear that he may not return from this battle seemed to be permanently ingrained in her mind.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” Bucky whispered drowsily, dragging Y/n from her thoughts.
“Morning,” Y/n whispered before lightly pressing her lips to his. The kiss was soft but yet it seemed to convey all the emotions Y/n didn’t trust herself to say, maybe it was because Bucky knew her so well or maybe it was because he felt a familiar feeling of dread himself. He knew what he was doing was risky but it needed to be done.
“I know, sweetheart, I know” Bucky cooed once they pulled away from the kiss, instantly seeing the sadness in her eyes. He knew that there were no words that would ease the worry from her mind so he did the only thing that he could do. He held her. He pulled her into his embrace, his hands lightly roaming over her body, not in a sexual way but in a soothing one. The pair of them stayed like that, wrapped up in each other's arms, silently comforting each other, right up until there was a dull knock at the door. Both of them wanted nothing more than to just stay in that moment but they couldn’t. It was time and they both knew it.
“Promise me you’ll come back to me,” the pain in Y/n's voice was enough to make his heartbreak.
“I’ll always come back to you, my love,” he soothed, holding her even closer than before.
“Always,” he repeated like a mantra, placing a final kiss on her lips.
“I love you”
“I love you too,” she replied back with tears in her eyes, coldness washing over her body as he pulled away from the embrace, vanishing behind the door to make his way down to the armoury.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Y/n stood leaning against the stone railing of balcony, her gaze locked onto the horizon which she had watched the love of her life disappear into. It had been six months since she said her final farewell to the man she loved and she had been out here everyday since, no matter the weather.She remembered watching him the day he left, she had stood in this very spot, fear and anxiety plaguing her thoughts. She recalled the way the sun had glinted of his pristine armour, of the way he spoke and inspired his men, lifting their spirits from the back of his noble steed as the animal trotted along the lines.He had stopped in front, looking over the men following him as his horse pawed restlessly at the ground. His short hair was neat, every strand styled in place the way he liked, and despite the distance she remembered the spark in his eyes and the familiar smirk upon his face as the battalion of men cheered for him, ready and willing to follow their king into battle.
He had waved to her, blew a kiss in her direction before setting off. She had stood in place for what felt like hours, watching his figure grow smaller and smaller until he vanished out of sight altogether.
His goal and wish was for his actions to reignite hope amongst their people, and for a time it had. But it only lasted so long, they say no news is good news, but for most the disappearance of their king and his gallant men had only increased their desperation and despair, one in particular.
“Your Majesty,” as though on que the recent bane of her existence made himself known. Sighing, Y/N turns her head towards the voice she and come to loath.
“Lord Stark, can I help you with something?” She inquired with a curt tone, already knowing what he was here to discuss with her. She had been avoiding him for this very reason, and it seems he had clicked onto her intentions. She was in no mood for this.
She hears him sigh in response, as he, her royal advisor comes to stand a few feet behind her, “You know why I’m here your majesty. We didn’t get the chance to finish our discussion.”
“On the contrary Lord Stark, I believe we have, on multiple occasions now. What you mean to say is that you’re unsatisfied with my answer and wish for me to reconsider my decision.” she corrected sternly, trying her hardest to maintain her composure
“I meant no disrespect my lady, I’m just saying it would be wise to-“
“To what? To marry again?”Y/N cuts him off before he can finish
“We’ve been over this Your Majesty, marrying again would protect you and it may even form a new alliance,” His words and tone felt like a dagger in her heart, how many times had they discussed this. Y/N curses herself at the feeling of tears building up, fighting to keep them in as she looks to the sky and takes a deep breath, calming herself. He was out there still, he had to be, why was it so hard for others to have faith in him.
“You’re talking as if he’s dead,”
“I cannot even begin to understand how hard this is for you-“
Pity, his tone reeked of it, if she turned to him now she knew she’d see it plain as day upon his face. He spoke to her as though she were a child, one that needed coddling and protecting. She knew the kingdom needed a king, they needed security and an heir and she had been doing her best. For him above all else. He had done so much for her, he had given her his life and his heart and in turn she had done the same and she refused to give up on him now.
“He’s not dead, he’s out there somewhere.” Lord Stark merely sighed in response to her again, though this time there was an irritated tone to it. She could tell her stubbornness was annoying him, but she couldn’t bring herself to care, he had pushed her past that months ago.
“I understand your need for hope.”
She couldn’t help but let a humourless laugh slip past her lips as she turned to look at her advisor. Head high and shoulders back, she knew he would see the redness in her eyes, but above all else she wanted him to see her determination and strength. Approaching him, she mutters, “Hope which you should share for your king.” Not giving him a chance to say anything else, Y/N walks towards the doors to the balcony, hope lost was as good as admitting defeat, in accepting that that which you have faith in no longer invokes to inspire you. Bucky deserves more than that.,”
~~~~~~~~
Lord Rogers, much like Y/n refused to believe that the king was dead.. Regret and guilt tended to fill his mind when he would search him, he hated that he didn’t go with him to the battle. Ever since they were boys, the two of them would always be there for each other, protecting each other from foes. As a young boy, Steve didn’t have the best life, but Bucky was always there to defend him and no one would dare harm a prince, those that dared to try normally ended up flat on their arse. When Bucky inherited the throne he gave Steve a title, land and with that came some long overdue respect. But inheriting the throne led to Bucky having to face harsher foes than just the local bullies and of course through every battle Steve was there, protecting his friend the same way Bucky had protected him for all those years before. This time it was different though, Bucky insisted that Steve stayed at the castle to keep an eye on Y/n, to protect her if anything happened to him in the battle. It worried him but he also understood Buckys reasoning so didn’t try to fight him on the matter.Steve spent days at a time searching the surrounding forests and mountains for any sign of the king's survival, only returning to the castle to check on the Queen, knowing she, like him, was struggling. But hers was for a different reason, he knew she was being pressured by her royal advisor, Lord Stark to re-marry and it pained Steve to admit it but Lord Stark had a point, their country was vulnerable without a king, Y/n was an excellent queen, there was no denying that but men from other lands failed to show her the respect she deserved without a king next to her. Steve knew Bucky was alive, he knew in his heart that he was alive, they were like brothers and he Steve was determined to find him.
Steve was riding through the woods on the border of the land, it was an area he hadn’t been to since the king first went missing. In the distance Steve saw another man on horseback, instantly his guard was up, prepared for the possibility of an attack. A few seconds passed and the figure started to become clearer but the man fell off his horse before Steve could make out any detail or features of the man. Steve dismounted his horse almost instantly and made his way over cautiously toward the man. As he got closer to the figure he noticed the all time familiar features of his best friend; his hair looked long and matter, his clothes were torn and he was covered in blood. Worry flooded over Steve’s face as he knelt down next to Bucky, letting out a small sigh of relief when he realised the blood wasn’t Buckys. Carefully he picked up the king's unconscious body and placed it on his own horse before bolting back to the castle.
~~~~~~~
A frustrated sigh left Y/ns lips as she entered her bedroom. She’d spent most of the day trying to calm the Lords who were getting more agitated by the day as well as dealing with the constant hints Lord Stark was making about finding a new suitor. She hated this. She hated being like this, passed around like she was a piece of meat to any king that would help the country. She knew in both her head and her heart that she would never remarry, if Bucky wasn’t found then she would rule the country alone like she had been doing with the hope that sooner or later the Lords would respect her the way they did Bucky. She all but collapsed on the bed she once shared with Bucky, her eyes slowly drifted shut as she got lost in the memories of her and Bucky.
Y/n nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard someone burst through the door, to her relief though it was only Steve. However his boldness was something that caught her attention, normally Steve was such a gentleman and would always wait to be summoned into the room.
“Steve? Are you okay?” She asked, confusion racing through her brain as her eyes scanned over Steve, searching for answers.
“I found him,” those words were enough to have Y/n darting out of her bed and grabbing her robe before following Steve to the infirmary, a mixture of anxiety and relief filling her her thoughts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When she first saw him in his bloodstained clothes, she instantly thought the worst. She thought he was dead. But when she saw his chest slowly rising and falling she felt relief wash over her. He was alive. All of those months of waiting for him and he was here. He was really here, back with her. Hours passed and Y/n was still sat by Bucky's side, not wanting to leave his side ever again, she never wanted to let him go ever again. A few more hours passed before Bucky's blue eyes slowly fluttered open. Shock and terror filled his eyes when he first opened them, until he saw Y/n's face, as soon as he saw her face he felt all of the pain and terror fade away. He slowly raised his hand to her face, trying to work out if he’d wandered into a dream, but this felt more real than any dream he’d had in the months that’d passed.
“You’re safe, you’re home,” Y/n cooed, stroking some of the stray strands of hair away from his face. Her voice was soft and sweet just like he remembered it and at her touch he felt like he was being brought back to life, like all the terrors of the past six months hadn’t happened.
“You came back to me,” she soothed, caressing his face as she lightly placed her forehead against his.
“Of course I did,” Bucky whispered, moving his head slightly to press a kiss onto her palm, “I had a promise to keep.”

The hotel was damp and cold, but the view was magnificent. Rising from the chair, Zoe wrapped herself tighter in a wide woolen scarf and went out onto a tiny balcony made of openwork stone.
As far as the eye could see, there was water ahead – pinkish, blue, green. Zoe had never seen so much water before. The water has never been so close. Leaning over the balcony railing, Zoe stared down at the low waves intersecting at odd angles.
Such a strange city. When she bought a tour at the agency, she was offered a choice – Verona or Venice. Zoe rejected Verona at once. And she looked at the glamorous, deliberately beautiful photos of Venice for a long time as if looking for something – either a crack in the ideal porcelain world captured on the image or ugly everyday flaws. In the end, she decided – she has nothing to lose.
The flight never seemed to end. The large iron bird seemed to hang in the sky forever, spreading its immovable wings and holding the half-asleep Zoe either in its paws or in a steel silver beak. When, to her surprise, the bird let her go, Zoe still had to get from mainland Italy deep into the archipelago. So she arrived at the hotel completely exhausted.
She burst into a spacious room that smelled of rain and prickly nights, dropped her suitcase on the floor, and stretched out on an obscenely wide bed.
And when she woke up, the sun, mother-of-pearl gray skies, and water looked out of her windows.
Zoe wasn't going to take a vacation. She worked hard and monotonously, with stubborn, dull dedication, unlike many of her workaholic colleagues – not for the sake of her own reputation and career, and not at all for show. The fact is that there was really nothing more in her life.
Zoe didn’t realize it right away. She just worked, day after day, not even always overtime. Like everyone else, she played bowling on Thursdays and had fun in pubs on Fridays. But when her friends and colleagues hurried home to their families at the end of a stormy evening Zoe, starting her old Renault, every time fought the temptation to return to the laboratory.
This went on for a long time. Months. Years. Until one day, on the eve of her fortieth birthday, Zoe realized that the desire to go back to work after a party with friends was her only temptation.
For some reason, this understanding frightened her so much that the next morning she was already sitting in the office of the head of the medical research center in which she worked, with an application for a vacation, and a week later – on a plane on her way to Italy.
Zoe straightened and looked at the bright scarlet sun sinking into the bay. Self-pity is not the best feeling to approach the second half of your life, she thought. Well, in general, she had nothing to feel sorry for herself. She was lonely – but she always had more or less enough of her own company, with the rare addition of a friend or two to chat with over the weekend. She did not have an impressive career – although many of her colleagues at the center, who discussed at tea the young doctor, who had managed to make several breakthrough discoveries by the age of thirty-five, could argue with this. Success in science is an unpopular success. Nothing to brag about. Zoe chuckled out of the corner of her mouth. And she had absolutely no idea what to do next, and for that matter – why all this was needed.
On the other hand, why not?
Would she have died of some kind of blood cancer, she would have made a sort of a romantic heroine, Zoe thought irritably as she closed the balcony.
At the foot of the building, somewhere far, far away, muddy water was rustling and foaming.
***
Zoe bought a complete tour, which included a full package of services, so she did not choose a hotel. Maybe if she did, she would spend time looking for something more comfortable and not so boring, she mused as she walked down to the restaurant for lunch. During the week and a half that Zoe spent here, nothing happened in the hotel that could conditionally pass for entertainment. Don't consider the other guests as such, she chuckled mentally. On the stairs and in the corridors, there were mostly gloomy gray-haired couples and girls of dubious appearance. Sometimes a jazz band played in the lobby in the evenings.
There wasn`t a soul to be seen in the bright and quiet hall – except for a tall man in black, sitting in the far corner at the piano. Leaning over the keyboard, the man absentmindedly fingered the keys, pulling out the notes one at a time. Zoe smiled at the metaphor that crossed her mind and turned around and headed there instead of the restaurant.
In the niche in which the piano was hidden, only one small lamp burned, giving a soft yellow-orange light. Falling obliquely on the keyboard and the lid, it snatched out of the half-light a man's back and shoulder, tightened in a classic black suit, the outlines of the profile and hands with large fingers.
Approaching, Zoe leaned on the piano and for a while, just stood listening to the music. Now, being near, she could finally understand what was wrong with this music – the stranger played skillfully and cleanly, but the melody, its very fabric, seemed... vulnerable and fragile as if the pianist was painfully remembering it or composing it on the go. Zoe watched as his hands gently touch the keys as if asking about something – and finding no answer.
‘You haven't played for a long time,’ she said softly.
‘Very long,’ he raised his head. For a moment, his face – beautiful, pale, with dark eyes and well-defined lips – remained relaxed. Then he brushed aside a straight strand of black hair that had fallen on his forehead and looked at Zoe. And then a strange expression appeared in his gaze – bewildered, amazed... looking. This happens with those who have met someone whom they have long lost hope of seeing. Zoe could bet that he was about to say something, but at the last moment, he resisted. He turned away again and continued to play.
‘My… teacher was pretty good,’ an ironic note slipped through his low voice, ‘but I'm afraid I’m lacking in practice. What do you think?’ The stranger again raised his eyes to Zoe.
‘I like your manner,’ she said carefully. ‘Have you just arrived?’ she asked for some unknown reason.
‘Yes, yesterday,’ said the man. ‘Always wanted to go to Venice,’ he added slowly. ‘To this... city of dreams.’
Zoe smiled involuntarily. Looking at his hands, which were still on the keyboard, she suddenly imagined with amazing clarity how fingers stroking the keys touch her skin. Imagined how they touch her neck, shoulders, pass along the shoulder blades, move to the waist, barely noticeable, but confidently increasing the pressure. Turning away, Zoe blinked.
The momentary rush of embarrassment, however, disappeared as quickly as it had arisen. What are you here for, Zoe, she asked herself. Not to sit in the room in the evenings with a glass of Tokaj and picture suffering, are you? Take a look at this piece of masculine beauty and make the most of what he promises. If he promises, of course.
‘ – at dinner tonight?’ Zoe woke up and looked at her interlocutor. Judging by his look, he was perfectly aware of what she was thinking and did not seem to mind. ‘If I understood correctly, there will be dances after dinner.’
Zoe nodded.
‘It's always like this here on Fridays. If you're looking for entertainment, there is hardly a better case,’ she said, looking him in the eye. ‘The season has just ended.’
The man silently shook his head.
‘I’ll come,’ he answered, standing up. He bowed graciously, intending to leave, and suddenly turned around. ‘What is your name?’
Again this strange seeking expression, a poignant mixture of despair and hope. And mockery – not at her, at himself.
‘Zoe Van Helsing,’ she said. Amazement flashed in his dark eyes but then disappeared.
‘Count Dracula,’ he said, shaking her outstretched hand. ‘See you at dinner, Zoe Van Helsing.’
***
For the upcoming evening, Zoe prepared carefully. After scrapping several spectacularly low-cut dresses, she settled on blue jeans and a light blue blouse. ‘If he is a real Count,’ her pride chuckled, ‘you will hardly be able to surprise him.’ Well, she didn't intend to.
‘I want to have a good time,’ Zoe muttered, glancing at herself in the mirror of an antique carved dressing table. She washed off the mascara from her eyelashes, which she diligently dyed five minutes ago, then, after short thinking, wiped a thin layer of lipstick from her lips. Zoe used makeup a little and only on special occasions, but it was not a lack of habit or awkwardness that made her get rid of it now. She could not explain to herself why, but she was sure that the best choice for meeting the Count was naturalness.
The hotel restaurant was unusually full: probably dancing inspired not only her, moving to one of the few free tables – at the exit to the terrace – Zoe thought. Sitting at the table and ordering a glass of Chianti, she turned her face to the light wind blowing from the ajar doors.
The bay shone in shades of blue, pink, and dove. Small waves broke up, catching the lighted lanterns. Zoe heard how music was born and tried its power in the hall. The wind became a little cooler. The waiter brought her Chianti.
She could have sat like that all evening, Zoe thought after the third or fifth sip. The music became louder and a little braver. Zoe decided that she might need more wine.
‘You promised me a dance.’
‘When did I?’ Zoe turned around.
Pause.
‘One hundred twenty-three years ago.’
She chuckled.
‘What a precision. And what a tactlessness!’
‘I beg your pardon?’
He was dressed in the same classic black suit as when they first met, and just like when they first met, she wanted this suit off him immediately. Zoe nodded to his questioning glance in the direction of the chair opposite and said, putting down her glass:
‘You just hinted at my age?’
‘No way,’ Dracula responded with mock horror. His eyes flashed with a mixture of irony and melancholy. ‘Never mind, this is... a personal joke.’
The orchestra fell silent behind them. One by one, the instruments stopped playing, as if they were disappearing into the shadows, yielding to the only remaining violin.
Zoe finished her wine. She felt like crying. Determination and frivolity vanished, and anger with herself remained.
‘I –’ she began, but Dracula interrupted her.
‘You promised me a dance.’
She watched him get up and walk over to her. Taking his hand, she rose and allowed him to lead her to a small dance floor in the opposite corner. She saw him making a sign to the musicians, heard the first chords sounded, then he pulled her to him and velvetly ran his hand along her back.
Everything floated somewhere: Venice, the damp smell of canals, a shade of raw plaster, which seemed to cover everything and everyone in this city, a draft coming from everywhere; pink-blue sky. Closed, sharply defined lips and dark, demanding eyes.
Music came from somewhere with dry clicks, crumbling on them beat by beat and measuring their steps. Piano – thunderstorm, monotonous rain, wet asphalt, water on San Marco. Pigeons flutter out from under her feet. Fractional flashes of droplets gather in puddles, a violin steps carefully over them, creeps in, displaces other sounds, and again remains alone. Freezes, kissing her forehead. And everything freezes with it.
...They took the elevator for ages. Squeezing his hand, Zoe watched the numbers change on the scoreboard on the wall. When the number three finally lit upon it, it seemed to her: a little more, and she simply could not stand it. They got to the room, and holding the key card to the door, she was surprised – it does not open until it dawned on her: not her suit. The door opened, closed behind her. Zoe leaned back on it, lifted her head.
Dracula leaned over to her and took her face in his hands. Zoe stood silently, motionless. Closing her eyes, she held her breath, feeling the touch of his lips, then – the tongue. Snuggling up to him, she grabbed him by the neck. He ran his hands over her body, finding, squeezed the nipples through the fabric. He pulled her blouse from the belt and ducked under it with his palm. Exactly how she fantasized... a long time ago... yes, this... afternoon. Twitching impatiently, Zoe swung her hips, her jeans button digging into his stomach. He pulled away, turning her, pressed her to the door again, tore off the button, zipper, and put his hand into her panties. Zoe buried her forehead against the door with a groan. His fingers caressed her harshly and roughly, without ceremony, tormenting her, not allowing her to escape. Zoe finished, breathing out a soundless scream.
Grasping her from behind, Dracula waited until she calmed down, turned her around, ran his fingers over her cheeks, erasing the lines of tears. He pulled her into the room, along with him, to the bed.
Lying on her back, Zoe listened to the disturbed world rebuilding within her body. She smiled at Dracula, who had time to put his clothes somewhere and bent over her. Now his touch was gentle, fleetingly teasing as if he was asking for forgiveness for the recent explosion. Zoe lifted herself up and slid into his arms – and gasped as he rolled onto his back, swapping them.
Zoe loved sex and found partners easily. Many of them were passionate and skillful. But she never really wanted to be on top. She shifted in embarrassment. She wasn't even sure she understood how...
She did not have time to think out the thought: grabbing her by the waist, Dracula slowly lowered her onto himself. And it was so good and... accurately, that Zoe bit her lip with acute pleasure. Dracula waited a couple more moments, lifted her, froze. Zoe frowned in bewilderment. He smiled and moved his hips. Once, twice. The third – slower, then faster, and in the same order – again. Arching, she trembled – and when his fingers found her clitoris, everything became unimportant, there were only moans and sighs in the darkness.
…
‘Would you like some coffee?’ Zoe asked. Dracula, hugging her with both arms and absentmindedly running his fingers over her stomach, shook his head.
‘I don’t drink... coffee,’ he replied, and there was distant anxiety in his voice. Zoe nodded nonchalantly as she climbed out of bed, wrapped her dressing gown, and walked over to the table.
‘It's cold,’ she said, looking into the coffee pot. Well, the coffee was brought in yesterday. She turned to Dracula, who was sitting on the bed. He was disheveled and looked at her in a strange way. ‘I'll order a new one.’ Stepping to the balcony, Zoe opened the glass door and breathed in the morning air.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Dracula get up and approach her.
The sky was still gray, but somewhere in the distance birds were already awakening. Zoe turned to Dracula – and froze, bumping into a sharp, focused gaze.
He stood naked in front of her, and there was something very familiar about it – not because of last night, but different.
‘Sorry.’
He grabbed her with lightning speed, so that she did not have time to recoil or cry out, hugged her again – and something happened.
Zoe felt herself trembling and swaying, slipping and falling into an unknown direction. Everything blurred, and before her eyes flashed pictures – an iron grate, a torch thrown to the ground, the smell of burnt wool, a nun's dress, and blood. Swaying, salty air, captain at the helm, shouts, shadows on the deck, and another fire. An explosion, the smell of fresh gunpowder tickling her nostrils, a man's face distorted by rage bending over her.
Agatha recoiled, gasping for air, and finally screamed when she realized what he was doing.
‘Agatha, it`s over!’ Reality fell on her and struck from all sides at once, stunning. ‘That's all, Agatha!’ Dracula hugged her, holding her. She struggled, trembling, bursting into sobs. ‘Sorry,’ he repeated when she was exhausted and quieted down. ‘Sorry, I had to make sure.’
He let her go, and she, moving away, climbed onto the bed, huddled like a wounded animal. She wrapped herself tighter in her dressing gown, which miraculously still remained on her. She leaned back on the pillow and cried softly. Dracula silently sat down on the other side of the bed.
‘You survived,’ Agatha said without looking at him.
‘I did,’ said Dracula. ‘I just slept for a hundred and twenty years. Then I woke up and saw around... all this. But I liked it, you know.’
Agatha didn't answer. She didn't want details. She wanted to close her eyes and not open them for another hundred years.
‘How many have you eaten?’ she said dismissively.
‘Agatha, you worked at the research medical center,’ Dracula's voice sounded annoyed. ‘Do you know who the donors are? These are special people who donate blood, eggs, and sperm.’ He paused. ‘And there is Tinder, besides.’
Agatha felt her head begin to throb heavily.
‘How is this possible?’ she asked hoarsely. Turning, she looked at Dracula. Dracula didn't answer. ‘It’s the twenty-seventh of October two thousand and twenty,’ Agatha said with an effort. ‘I ate toast for breakfast. My blood type is the first negative. I don't like grapes and I love bananas. Last year I went to Islamabad. I remember the life of Zoe Van Helsing!’ she shouted; her voice rang out again.
Dracula was silent, and somehow that silence helped calm the storm that was raging inside her. Agatha looked around the room, looked at the bed, and at Dracula. She breathed in without a sound. Her body was still agitated, still keenly aware of what they were doing together. How could she do this – with him?
‘You remember the life of Zoe Van Helsing because you were her,’ she heard Dracula's voice. Agatha looked at him incredulously. ‘Her life was real. From the very first day. And at the same time, from the very first day, it was you.’
Getting up, Agatha walked to the balcony and leaned against the glass of the door. She frowned at Dracula.
‘It is believed that reincarnation,’ he said, ‘is always a new personality. In rebirth, a person begins a completely different life. And in most cases, apparently, it is. But it happens... it happens very rarely that the former personality turns out to be so strong that it displaces or does not let the new one in, and a conflict arises between them. I heard about this maybe two hundred years ago from some Arab doctor.
Agatha listened in silence.
‘The problem is,’ Dracula continued, ‘that two consciousnesses cannot get along in one human body. Such a split cannot last forever.’ He made a pause. ‘Have you ever been diagnosed with... what is it called now... cancer?’
‘Some years ago. I was in the hospital. Suspicion of leukemia,’ Agatha said in surprise. ‘Not confirmed. Zoe... I've seen the tests. But Z... I'm not an oncologist. I figured it was just a mistake. Someone confused the tubes.’
Dracula stared at her wordlessly.
‘Now, yes, that's a mistake,’ he said and stood up. In the split second after his words, something changed in his face and gaze, and in the room. Standing in place, Agatha watched him approach, stretches out his hands to her, opens her dressing gown. Already when he is very close, holding her between himself and the glass, raises her hips, and enters, she remembers that he is still naked.
Looking into her eyes, he pushes into her body, hard, rough, and deep. She has nowhere to go, not to hide, she should be disgusted and ashamed, she should be hurt, in the end, but she only moans and, shuddering, leans back.
The despair in his movements melts, smears out, he gets out of her, carries her to the bed. He enters again, leaning on his hands, continues, at the only point in contact with her. Agatha cums from this alone, and sweet spasms are still poured in her – while he lets her go, while he searches for his things, finds them, while dresses and, buttoned-up, walks to the door.
Agatha is unable to move, she feels at the same time heavy and light, but her thoughts and feelings are more clear than ever. She turns and holds out her hand.
‘Don't go.’

lose your doubts - akaashi keiji
⋆༉‧₊˚ [2:04 am]
basking in the breeze of the winter night, you let your eyes wander around the streets of tokyo. the bustling noise of constant traffic flow and sudden shrieks of laughter gave you a sense of peace. the occasional drunken cheers heard filled up an empty void in you, half wishing you took up the offer to join your friends on a night out.
while enjoying the sounds of the night, your mind slipped once again. chaos stirred in your mind as you remembered the work that was due tomorrow that still needed to be edited. glancing back at your work desk near your balcony, you chastised yourself for not going back to work.
ignoring your internal scolding, you turned your back against your work. the need to relish in this serene atmosphere grew stronger than before. a part of you reminded yourself that you've worked hard and the results could be seen.
this past week passed by in a flurry. mountains of projects and forms needed to be filled out piled on your desk. all due on the same week but you never once complained. you took the job over with a smile on your face, bowing to your superior and did your best to finish it before the upcoming deadline.
this lead to many hours being spent overtime at the office rather than in the comforts of your own apartment with your lover, akaashi.
your boss, grateful for you and your unwavering work ethic, decided to reward you by letting you work from home for the next few weeks with less workload. they're forever grateful for you after you took over the project and lead the company to a hopeful collaboration with a reputable company.
mind swirling with work, you looked up wanting to clear your head again. you admired the moon as it shined brightly. though as in a daze, you fail to hear the light footsteps from behind you.
“the moon looks beautiful tonight, doesn’t it?” uttered akaashi as he slipped his hands around your waist. turning your head to face him, you smiled at the hidden meaning in his words. with a small kiss against your temple, he looked up to the sky again.
both of you stood there quietly, basking in each other’s presence. never needing to say something to fill in the silence that was there. even with the silence, your mind betrayed you by thinking of deadlines and high expectations to be met.
trying to untangle yourself from akaashi’s arms, you were met with futile attempts. eyes meeting his, he simply shook his head at you.
"i need to do my work, keiji, please let me go,” you said gently.
your lover only shook his head in response before resuming his position.
“you’ve worked hard, my love. you shouldn’t put too much pressure onto yourself,” he started. you wanted to intervene but he simply continued with his words, “can’t you see how hard your working, angel? look back at all your hard work. take time to appreciate and applaud yourself for doing so much,”
turning around to face him, you were greeted with a small smile painted on his lips. akaashi forgot what he wanted to say next. far too distracted by your beauty that he’s forgotten where he was going with his words.
“but i have deadlines to meet, kaashi, i can’t just-,” words cut off as he placed his finger on your lips. the gesture instantly shutting you up, awaiting for what he has to say next.
“my little dove, please. just rest for little while more with me?”
how could you ever deny him?
so you both stood there under the moonlight. the night life slowly simmering down as you held onto one another, making up for lost time. all your worries seem to wash away when you were in his arms.
the only thing akaashi was thinking was that he wished he could make it easier for you. he wished he could take all your pain and struggles away, but at the same time, he knew you were capable of doing so many things and wished you were aware of your admirable work ethic and unending talents. he held you tighter, hoping his hug could erase every troubles you had in mind. he held you closer, hoping his hug could convey how much he loved you.
you could always count on akaashi to help you lose your doubts.

It’s Just Business - Two
Werewolf Steve Rodgers x reader
Warnings for the series: fluffness, Bucky and Sam bickering like five year olds, smutty smut, bad language.
“Alex!” Lara engulfed me in a hug, smiling brightly as she did.
“Lara. How are you?” I asked, my eyes flickering down to her round belly for a few moments. Seven months pregnant and she looked amazing. Her black hair up in a high ponytail. A fluffy dressing gown tied around her. Her light blue eyes sparkling.
“So happy now that you’re here. Thank goodness for your brother getting you out of there and away from your parents.” She grimaced at the thought of them, pulling me inside the house. Lara had been there for me as a big sister and I couldn’t ever repay her for it. Two older brothers is what I got, Sebastian the eldest at twenty-six and Jonathon twenty-four.
Bash is known as the golden boy, the distinguished politician. Played the part well, but if you knew him like I did, he was a crafty little shit that could do anything. Owns night clubs under a fake name. Some people joke and say he’s the head of a mob or something. I wouldn’t even be surprised if he admitted he was. Putting all that aside, he’s the most caring person you’ll ever meet.
JJ on the other hand, although caring, he cares in a different way. The magazines refer to him as ‘the ultimate party boy’ and god does he live up to the name. Too much freedom. Partying in every country he could, drinking rich people dry. Our parents never seemed to mind. Bash painted a pretty picture to the world that made them proud. Maybe I was wrong, but I always felt that because JJ wasn’t making his family proud, I was having to do it instead.
Not that I wasn’t bitter or anything...
“You’re tellin me.” I shook my head thinking of the recent news received from my father.
“What happened?” Her eyebrows furrowed as she closed the front door and ushered me up the big staircase towards one of their many guest rooms. Their house was more like a manor, the outside rustic and traditional, just like the main section of the house where the stairs sat so hugely. But the inside was more modern, I could never decide which one I preferred more. Placing my bag down on the big bed I began to explain everything to her.
“Now way! He can’t do that!” She began to rage. Flinging her arms about while I looked around the room. The headboard sat nicely up against the back wall, same wall the entrance door was on, to the left of the bed. The east wall had a closet built into it. The west was plain except for a painting of flowers in a vase sat dead centre of said wall. To the right of it, a door to the bathroom. And finally the south, a wall of windows with a sliding door in the middle.
“Actually he can.” I huffed.
“No.” Her statement was blunt. She marched out of the room and across the hall. “Sebastian!” Her voice echoed through the house and it brought a smile to my face. She always cared so much, even if I knew she couldn’t change anything, it was nice.
“What is it my dear wife?” Bash was dragged into the room by his spouse who repeated everything I said with anger.
“That sounds like dear old Dad.” Bash rolled his eyes patting my shoulder apologetically. His suit jacket was no where to be seen, shirt sleeves rolled up and his hair messy. Clear signs of a long day and a tired man.
“There has to be something we can do!” Lara wouldn’t let this go.
“There isn’t. Once father makes up his mind, there isn’t anything we can do to change it.” I nodded at my brothers truest words.
“Let’s not talk about it. I still have a few days of freedom left.” I let myself fall back onto the comfortable bed. The couple soon filed out of the bedroom leaving me to rest. As if I could. My mind was wide awake, I at least tried to sleep. Laying in bed staring at the ceiling. But the machine wouldn’t turn off, the cogs wouldn’t stop moving.
“This is ridiculous.” I rubbed my hands over my face.
Slipping out of the bed, my black night dress flowing while I walked closer to the big window wall. Pushing the sliding door open and stepping out onto the balcony to stare at the view. It was beautiful. Reminded of something out of a movie.
A giant lake with big pine trees and huge fir trees outlined the water. All of them merging together, I couldn’t tell where the forest line stop or started. A foggy smoke came from me with my deep breath. It was so cold, I barely felt it but I wrapped my arms around myself anyway as if by instinct. A loud howl sounded from somewhere in the middle of the forest. A creature, a fox? A wolf maybe? Whatever it was, it sounded lonely. The cry in the dark had me feeling sad for the poor thing.
“I get it. Being alone sucks.” I spoke into the darkness of the night. Feeling the breeze pull a shiver from my body, I made my way back inside the comfort of the room. I didn’t even think about it before leaving the door open and getting into bed. Somehow I was more relaxed with it open, I felt closer to something. Easily drifting off to sleep, the sound of the animal howling blurred into my dream land.
“Up you get lazy bones! Come on time to start your day.” Lara burst through the door yelling, before gasping in shock. “Did you leave the door open all night? It’s freezing in here.” She trudged towards the glass and slid it closed. I sat up and watched her do it.
“Yeah I guess I did.” I frowned slightly, it wasn’t exactly like me to feel at ease with a door wide open.
“Well wash up and come down for breakfast.” She placed a kiss on the top of my head and left leaving me wondering if this is what mothers were suppose to be like. Were they suppose to wake you up early so you made the most of your day? Were they suppose to make you breakfast? Or show you affection? It’s not exactly what I was used to. Nevertheless I got up, got dressed and had breakfast.
“So little sister, what are your plans for today?” Bash asked shoving a piece of toast in his mouth, identical to how he did when we were kids. A small smile pricked at my lips at the sight.
“I was gonna go for a walk, clear my head.” The married couple seemed to think it was a great idea, practically shoving me out the door.
There was fog all across the river this morning, although it wasn’t particularly cold out. The trees reminded me of when Bash, JJ and I used climb the big oak tree in the backyard and the boys got told off for encouraging me to be unlady like. The thought made me giggle, I was never lady like no matter how hard my mother tried to make me that way. I guess I just hated to be told what to do in any circumstance.
My knee high boots crushed leaves underneath them while I walked, I loved the sound. The crunch of nature. This walk had soothed me and I wasn’t even that far from the house yet. Everything here was so serene, so full of life. I wished I could stay here and forget everything. Just let everything go, all my resentment towards my parents, all the pressure of this stupid task.
He cleared his throat before I noticed him, stopping in my tracks to see the rugged blonde man from yesterday.
“S-Steve.” Why the hell was he here? How did he know I was?
“Alexandra.” My name rolled off his tongue bewitchingly. He looked so different than before, no smart shirt. Just a plain dark blue t-shirt seems he liked that colour. No dress pants this time, merely a pair of jeans.
“Are you stalking me or something? Did my father put you up to this?” I grumbled, slipping my hands into my leather jacket pockets. My stance was always kinda wide, feet at the same distance as shoulders, back straight, head up just as mother said. I don’t remember the last time I slouched. He seemed to give me a once over, stopping on my hips? “Uh eyes up here buddy.” His blue orbs shot up in surprise, his left eyebrow raised.
“There’s been a change of plans. You’re coming straight to me once you’re done here.” Rude much.
“Why isn’t my father telling me this himself?” I eyed his feet as he took a step forward, taking one back of my own.
“He’s busy. Asked me to deliver the message. A woman, Martha, she’s already packed your things and sent them over. Your room is being readied as we speak.” His muscles seemed to tense as he spoke. He held himself confidently yet the way his hands were stuffed in his jean pockets gave him this goofy undertone.
“I still have a few days here.” I tried to keep my voice as stable as I could. I really didn’t want to leave, but Steve seemed like the type to tattle to my Father. I had to go to this unknown place, alone and so fast too.
“I know.” He sighed before speaking again. “I don’t want your stay with me to be uncomfortable for you. I’ll try everything in my power to make you at ease.” He puffed out his chest almost showing off his strength.
“I doubt that.” I let my lip curl slightly. I didn’t give him time to respond, turning on my heel and walking back. A once peaceful morning was now a tense and unwanted one.

Release my heart ⇾ Ch.6
↳ Pairing: Jimin x You
❧ Genre : Fluff / Smut / angst / gang au
❧ Words: +7k
❧ Summary: Your world is turned upside down when your father decides to sell you to the infamous gang in order to pay his debts.
*
You always thought that Jimin’s room at their headquarters was nothing but amazing and huge. That was your thought until the incident and Jimin’s decision to bring you to his safe place that only few knew about. It shouldn’t have surprised you to find out that he owned a place of his own but it still did, especially considering how huge the place was.
His flat was not located among the richest district nor the poorest. In fact, Jimin lived in a residential district where what you considered as ‘normal people’ lived. It was only when he got you inside that you understood the trick. The flat he owned was huge, a duplex with big windows and black and white walls. It was spacious just like Jimin liked it.
He had showed you your way to a room with a bed big enough for four. He put the bags on the floor and then turned around to face you, smiling and yet you saw a glimpse of something else. Anger seemed likely or maybe it was something else entirely.
“This is our room.” He had said and you thought that you liked the sound of ‘our’ coming from his mouth.
There was only one thing that bothered you. How could he bring you out of the headquarters where eyes were everywhere and could watch you over? Taking you to his place was just too risky.
Jimin frowned at your silence. “What is it?”
“Are you sure?” You finally asked and took a step towards him.
“Sure of?”
You spread your arms widely, showing everything. “This. Us? You can’t keep me hidden forever and I sure as hell can’t stay locked in a flat for the rest of my life. Which means I’ll have to go out, eventually.”
“Obviously.”
This time you were the one to frown. How could he be so relaxed about it when your questions made sense? “Jimin, what you’re giving me right now is freedom. You do realize that?”
He did, obviously. He ruffled his hair and sighed. “And you do realize that since I consider you more than just a let’s say employee, I can’t keep you locked and believe me I wish I could so nobody could try and hurt you. But I can’t do that, can I now?” A tiny smile spread on his lips as he took the final step that separated you. He wrapped one arm around you while his hand reached your face, thumb stroking your lips. “It’s hard for me to trust someone outside of my family but I want to trust you, Y/N.”
“Well, talk about pressure.” You chuckled and bit gently at his thumb – his reaction was instant, his eyes moved straight to your mouth and you could easily imagine what was going through this pretty head. “I’m not running away; I really don’t want to.”
“Good.” He whispered more to himself than to you, relief washing over him. He brushed his lips softly against yours as if he was afraid it was just a dream and everything would crumble if he did more than that. “More than good actually.”
You could not stop yourself from melting in his arms. You pressed yourself harder against him, devouring his lips just as eagerly. “Can we just fuck now?”
Jimin laughed at your demand but complied eagerly, lifting you from the floor. “Always so bossy. I like it.”
*
“If I say I wish to see you every day wearing only my shirt, would you agree?” Jimin asked you as you were lazily laying on your stomach on the couch, your feet in the air, reading a book.
You turned your head to glance at him leaning against the door, arms crossed over his chest, hungry eyes on you. You smiled and winked playfully. “Can be arranged.” You knew exactly what he loved so much about his shirt on you. It wasn’t the fact that you wore his clothes. No, it had everything to do with the fact that you wore absolutely nothing under which was a nice invitation to him. And Jimin could absolutely not say no to such invitation.
Jimin chuckled at your reply. “Such a tease.” But he licked his lips and started walking towards you, eyes glued to your legs. “I will never get tired of the view.” He gave your bum a light slap that made you giggle.
“I’d be worried if you would.” You joked and shifted from your position, letting him space to sit on the couch.
He did and you hurried to claim your rightful place on his laps with your arms tightly wrapped around his neck. “Hi there.” You pecked his lips.
Jimin’s arms instantly circled your body and his hands found your butt, squeezing your flesh – you bit on your lips in response. “I missed it.”
“What? My butt?” You joked, “Or is it me on top of you?” You nibbled at his jaw playfully, pushing yourself harder against him to rile him up. Not like it was a hard thing to do, Jimin was always hard for you. This time was no exception.
“Y/N.” Jimin growled and squeezed your butt harder in warning but really, all he wanted was to be inside you.
“What?” You feigned innocent, lips latched on his skin, you made sure to leave a very nice red mark on his neck. “You said you missed it.”
“Just so you know, I’m trying to be reasonable.”
You snorted and took a look at him. “Reasonable? You? Please.”
Jimin’s grip around you tightened only to crush you against his chest so his chin could rest on top of your head. “Yes. You know I love your body and I will never say no to such a nice invitation, but,” Jimin didn’t know how to express himself without sounding like an idiot.
You pushed his chest lightly to check on him and god, you weren’t ready for the softness and pure concern in his eyes. Where did the bad, big wolf had gone? Your smile widened and you pecked his lips. “But what?”
“I don’t want you to think you’re another toy, another woman I can use and then throw away. Because I’m telling you it right now, Y/N, you’re not. I care for you. A lot.”
If someone had told you five months ago that you would found yourself with one of the most dangerous man in the country, listening to his confession, you would have laughed at the person and probably told them to check with a doctor. And yet.
Jimin’s confession melted your heart into puddle. You felt warm (and not only because you wanted him), light and ready to fight the world if it meant you could stay with this man. It was silly and some would probably worry for your sanity – you wanted him. You wanted Park Jimin, the guy who had changed your world, turned it upside down, only to capture your heart.
You couldn’t control it. You wrapped your arms tightly around his neck; your mouth claimed his lips, sealing a silent promise that you would stay with him, no matter what.
*
One moment you were sleeping peaceful, having a nice dream and then, one other moment you were being woken up by something wet – someone or something (because you didn’t think Jimin would lick your face) was licking eagerly your face. At first you thought it was your imagination; you pulled at the blanket to cover your face but then came another lick and then another – you cracked an eye open to see that no it was not a dream or your imagination.
A white fluffy ball of fur sat beside you, looking expectantly at you and once it noticed your eyes had finally opened, it let out the softest meow you had ever heard.
You sat on the bed, confused for a moment before noticing a small note laying just beside the kitten.
“Since I’m being often busy, I was scared you’d feel alone. I found him in the street and he looked too adorable not to bring him home. Name him (I believe it’s a he). See you later. – Jimin.”
You sniffed, holding back the tears. And here you thought he couldn’t get any sweater. You shook your head and quickly returned your attention to the little buddy waiting for you. You picked him up, smiling fondly. “So. What should I call you hm?”
*
One week only after you moving in with Jimin, Yoojin showed up at your doorstep which both took you off guard and made you incredibly happy. You were convinced Yoojin wasn’t part of the people Jimin considered family and she shouldn’t know this place but because of you, he went against his own rules. One more time he showed you how much he cared for you.
“I can’t believe you’re here.” You told her, excited to be finally reunited with her after the mess.
Yoojin whistled as she looked at every corner of the place, too curious to see what kind of place Jimin owned outside of the gang. “And I can’t believe Jimin lives in a decent place. I didn’t expect that.”
You could relate, you didn’t expect that either. “What did you expect?”
Yoojin pondered on the question for a short moment, fingers rubbing her chin before laughing. “Probably something extremely expensive and extravagant. But not that.” She spread her arms, “This is too cozy for him.”
You laughed and agreed on that.
After that you prepared a tray with food and drinks and put everything on the small table at the balcony. The air was still a little fresh with a cool breeze – you took two blankets and put it on you.
“I love this place.” You admit as a sigh of delight left your lips. It wasn’t the life you had chosen for yourself but honestly you found it hard to care when you were with Jimin or Yoojin. You missed your friends, but you believed that with time, you would manage to find a way to introduce them to Jimin without including them in the crazy life.
Yoojin inhaled loudly. “I do too.” Then she looked at you, smiling. “I’m glad Jimin told me to come.”
“How are things back there?” Not like you were too worried, but you couldn’t stop yourself from being curious. Jimin promised not to kill the idiot but Taehyung… You knew just how deeply he cared and wouldn’t listen no matter how much you tried to reason with him.
Yoojin’s smile turned into a wicked grin which was, you had to admit, quite terrifying. “As in you want to know about the douche who attacked you?”
“Yes. Did Taehyung killed him?”
Yoojin wiggled her brows playfully, “What do you think?” She expected you to know the answer.
And you did. You sighed in defeat and slumped further in your seat. “He killed him. Of course he did.”
“I don’t know the full details and from what I gathered, I don’t think I want to know either. But apparently, Taehyung made him pay badly before killing him.”
You shivered at the thought of what Taehyung could have possibly done to the man. ‘Poor man’ you almost said.
“But before dying, he made both Jimin and Taehyung anxious.” Yoojin admitted as she took a sip of her drink. “Maybe it was rubbish and just his way to try and save himself but in our field of work, you don’t want to mess up or things can get ugly.”
“What did he say?”
“He told them that they’re too proud and are going to pay for their arrogance.” Yoojin hummed at her drink in satisfaction. “That’s good.”
No wonder Jimin was spending more hours at the headquarters than with you (not like you were too worried, knowing his work). You were going to have another talk with him later.
“I like Jimin.” You said out of nowhere and Yoojin chocked on her drink.
She coughed and judged you from the sight. “No shit Sherlock, I haven’t noticed.”
You rolled your eyes at her and smiled nevertheless. Of course, she would react like that. “The point is, I love him enough to accept his life style. I want to stay with him.”
Yoojin was no longer laughing, instead a fond smile spread on her lips – she knew what you were trying to say and expected you to eventually say it. “Well then I guess I was right to write this down.” She handed you a piece of paper with an address. One look at Yoojin and you knew it was the headquarters’ address. “If you ever want to visit let’s say me or Taehyung or just to piss off Jimin – because let’s be honest he’s going to throw a fit if you suddenly show up and I’m so looking forward for it.”
“So violent.” But you agreed and clinked your glass with hers. “Cheers.”
*
Few days later you decided to use the address and pay some of your friends a visit. It was risky and you were probably going to have a fight with Jimin later but you knew him well enough to deal with his anger later. Moreover, who was he to refuse a nice lunch made by his oh so lovely girlfriend?
You
[11:45am] : Please tell me all the idiots are home.
Yoojin bae 💛
[11:45am] : Depends. Be more specific about the ‘idiots’ part.
You
[11:46am] : I don’t know, there’s too many to name. 🙃
Yoojin bae 💛
[11:46am]: You’re so lucky they can’t hear you.
Yoojin bae 💛
[11:47am] : But to answer your question, yes they are all here. They’re having a meeting.
You
[11:50am] : Good. I’m about to interrupt them then.
Yoojin bae 💛
[11:52am] : Go girl!
You smiled at Yoojin’s message, clearly someone was bored and wanted some fun. You put your phone (bless Jimin for agreeing to get you one just in case) back in your bag and with a determined step you got inside the building.
Some of the men you met in the halls recognized you; some were surprised to see you (you bet the whole building had heard about the attack), some not that much.
It was odd to be back. You expected to feel bad, to feel anxious about it but oddly enough you weren’t. Far from it. Maybe it was the fact that you were a free woman or the fact that you were under Jimin’s (not to mention Taehyung’s) protection.
You got to your destination without trouble and without being interrupted. You took a deep breath and pushed the door to the meeting room. Yoojin hadn’t lied, all of them were inside including Namjoon.
“Hi guys.”
All eyes were on you.
You smiled awkwardly at them as there were many foreign faces and all were staring at you. You quickly found Taehyung’s beaming face; at least someone was happy to see you – Jimin was scowling.
You winked playfully at Taehyung and only then your eyes fell upon Jimin. If there was one person who wouldn’t be extremely happy about your presence it would be obviously him but you forgot all about your fear of confrontation with him as you noticed his injured arm. Your eyes widened in shock and all trace of smile vanished from your face.
Without caring that so many people were staring at you, you got to Jimin’s side.
“The hell you’re-“ He started arguing, fuming from inside.
“The fuck happened to your arm?” You shout at him. You grabbed his arm too harshly (it was hard to control your strength when you were so worried and upset) making him hiss at you. You ignored his reaction considering he completely deserved it.
The wound didn’t seem too deep but it still looked painful and nasty. You bit on your lips to refrain yourself from making any harsh comment but truth to be told, all you could think about was that you wanted to murder someone.
“What happened?” You asked again without letting go of his arm. “Who did this?”
“Y/N, what are-“ Jimin tried again which was not the right thing to do with you – your grip on his arm tightened and he winced one more time in pain. “Bloody hell woman!”
“So this is the girlfriend?” You heard one of the men asking and it was only then that you remembered you were not alone in this room.
Embarrassed, you looked at them and let (to Jimin’s happiness) go of him arm. “Hi.”
If at first, you felt intimidated, you quickly found yourself relaxing as Taehyung was biting on his lips trying not to laugh at Jimin’s face who turned from angry to red with embarrassment. Namjoon was openly smiling, not even trying to hide his amusement.
Finally, you showed the bag you had been carrying. “Food?”
They all agreed all too happily.
*
It was nice meeting the other members of Jimin’s family. Despite their initial cold faces, it melted as soon as you told them about food. Men and food, a big love story. Jimin was the only grumpy one in the room but secretly you caught him stealing some food.
“Why did you come?” Jimin asked as you got home together, still obviously upset but not as much as he used to.
You spun around to face him, hands on your hips, you tried to look as intimidating as you could – it didn’t work. Jimin quirked a brow, amused at your attempt so just to annoy you he mirrored your action and put his hands on his hips.
“Jerk.” You huffed
“Shocking, I know.” He smiled and relaxed. “I’m sorry. It wasn’t my intention to get angry or make you feel unwelcomed.”
No matter how strong and fearful Jimin could look, you realized he cared a lot and maybe too much. You took a step towards him, cupped his face in your hands (trying not to squish his cheeks which was so damn tempting) and kissed him. “You worry too much, Jimin.”
“I-“
“Which I understand. But I’m not going to hide and especially not from your men. If I want this relationship, I can’t hide behind the safety of your flat.” You kissed him again, a soft brush of your lips against his that made him relax against you. “And I really want a relationship with you.”
“Thank god.” He muttered against your lips as he kissed you more fiercely this time, pouring all his feelings into the kiss.
Without a word, Jimin lifted you from the floor and you wrapped your legs tightly around his waist, letting him carry you to your bedroom.
*
“You should tell her.” The moment you heard Jack telling this to Yoojin, you knew they were talking about you. Not like you were the main subject most of the time but it just made sense this time.
Eavesdropping wasn’t in your habits but just for this time, you stayed hidden in the corner, trying to gather as much information as you could before going to possible war.
“Jimin is stupid for keeping it a secret.” He added (which got you even more curious).
“Why me?” Yoojin face palmed, whining at the task Jack was giving her.
Jack raised a brow; it seemed pretty obvious to him why it should be Yoojin. “Because you’re her friend and she hate me.”
No matter how entertaining it was to see Jack desperate for help, you chose to come out and relieve him from his misery.
“I’m going to suppose you’re talking about me.” You said and as you pointed at Jack you quickly added, “And I don’t hate you.”
“Hey Y/N!” Yoojin smiled brightly at you.
“Don’t ‘hey me’.” Someone was trying to avoid the conversation but you were not going to let them just run away from you. “What is this all about? Jimin and secrets? My favorite kind of stories.”
Yoojin and Jack exchanged a glance that smelled like trouble to you.
Jack sighed in defeat and looked at you, looking apological. “You’re not going to like it.”
*
They were absolutely right. You didn’t like the story. Heck, you loathed it and it made you furious. The moment Suah’s name left Jack’s lips, you saw red.
“I’m going to kill him.” Was your first reaction. “No. Better, I’m going to first kill her and make him watch then I’ll deal with him.”
You were blood thirsty and were ready for a fight. To that Jack and Yoojin could only shudder. And just before you left, you swore you heard them saying something along the line ‘god, she sounds just like him.’.
How dare he.
Jimin should have known that being with you and still working with Suah was not the right thing to do. Business was business, yes, but he could find a more acceptable solution.
Annoyed, you halted in the hall. No, you didn’t want to go and pick a fight with Jimin. He was playing dirty and so would you. You turned around and headed straight to Taehyung’s room, hoping he was in there.
Luckily for you, he was.
“Y/N!” Taehyung wrapped you in his arms, squishing you against his body with so much strength you thought you were about to die. Hands still on your shoulders, Taehyung pushed you gently from him so he could properly look at you. He frowned, recognizing the anger behind your eyes. “Looks like you’re about to kill someone.”
And despite your anger, you chuckled. “Depends. Are you going to help me to hide the body?”
Taehyung whistled, impressed. “Now you speak like one of us.” He slid his hand along your arm before gently taking your hand and bringing it to his lips – he planted a soft kiss on your knuckles. “How may I help you?”
“How do you feel about pissing Jimin off?”
“Consider me intrigued.”
*
Jimin was not amused.
The party was filled with vain people (including his company), with discussions he would have loved to avoid. But he had no other choice but to agree to Namjoon’s plan and come since he and Taehyung were the best at charming people (and eventually tricking them).
Suah was another reason he was not amused. There was a time when he found her charming; there was something about her. But sadly, and just like the people in this room, she was vain. Beautiful from outside but ugly from inside and Jimin couldn’t ignore this part of her. Not anymore at least.
But what got Jimin’s mood straight from bored to upset was the sight of you stepping into the hall with Taehyung. It wasn’t because of the fact that Taehyung was the one escorting you or the fact that you wore a beautiful lacy red dress that made you look absolutely gorgeous, like a queen.
No, what bothered him the most was the fact that someone (and apparently it was Taehyung) thought it was a good idea to bring you to this party. A party that could possibly end in tears and blood.
He gritted his teeth, trying to keep his cool.
“Oh look who’s here.” Suah commented to Jimin’s dismay. She looked smug and too happy for his liking, making him regret bringing her with him.
“Apparently, you’re not the only man she’s interested in.” Suah faced Jimin, pushing him to snap.
He didn’t. He simply averted his eyes from you and Taehyung to look at her. “Shut up. For your own sake.”
Suah only laughed and took another sip of her drink.
If Jimin was not amused with your presence, then you were furious to see Suah so close to him. The wish to suddenly jump on her and possibly pull at her hair was very strong. But instead, you tightened your grip around Taehyung’s arm and put on your best smile and ignoring completely Jimin’s gaze.
“Maybe I should have checked my testament before coming here.” Taehyung joked as he leaned closer to you. “I think Jimin is going to murder me in my sleep.”
That was an understatement. “I don’t think he’s going to wait for you to sleep.”
Taehyung smiled, agreeing. He let go of your arm only to snatch two glasses of Champaign from a waiter and to hand one to you. “Then I should keep my guardian angel close to me in case something happens.”
“Flattery will get you nowhere.” You poked his chest playfully. But he was right, you would defend him if needed.
Taehyung stood before you making it easier for you to talk to him while observing Jimin from afar. It was a perfect strategy and oh how much it was worth it.
“On a scale of one to ten, how bad is it?” Taehyung asked as he took a sip of his drink, feigning fear when in fact he was particularly amused with his whole plan.
You hid your smile in your glass, eyes darting back and forth between Taehyung and Jimin. “A solid seven, I’d say.”
Taehyung whistled, impressed. “Then, he’s doing much better than I thought.”
But maybe you were quick to jump to conclusion – Jimin was slowly walking towards you. “Oh, oh, he’s coming.”
Taehyung didn’t even flinch and instead spun around, standing right beside you, hand resting on your back (which obviously made Jimin only angrier judging by his frown).
“Nice suit, Jimin.” Taehyung welcomed him with a compliment.
And he didn’t lie. Jimin really looked good in his grey suit. He looked so good you could almost forget about your own resentment. Get a grip Y/N! You slapped yourself mentally and did your best to fake a happy smile. “Hi there.”
Jimin’s eyes darted back and forth between you and Taehyung, gaze growing darker with every passing seconds. “Watch where you’re putting your hand, Kim.”
You couldn’t stop yourself from rolling your eyes at his open display of jealousy (a part of you rejoiced nevertheless but you couldn’t possibly admit it out loud).
Taehyung hummed, pretending to think about his request but then he pulled you closer to his side. “Why should I? She’s my date for the night, Park. If you wanted her to come with you, you should have asked.”
‘Instead of asking Suah’ you wanted to add but that would be admitting you were also jealous and you wouldn’t do him the honor. Jimin, however, seemed to understand the unspoken words either way; his eyes averted from Taehyung to you. You held his gaze, refusing to give in so easily.
Jimin chose, for once in his life, to be reasonable – he ran his fingers through his perfectly styled hair (your eyes followed his every move despite yourself) and sighed in defeat. “I knew you were up to something when I saw you this morning.” He shook his head at Taehyung but eventually a tiny smile spread on his face.
Taehyung smiled wickedly. “Always. But you’d be surprised.” He glanced at you – you recognized the look of a man about to spill your secrets. “But this pretty lady is the one who was up to something. Not me.”
“Oh, was she now?”
It was so tempting to just stuck your tongue at him, but that would be very childish of you, wouldn’t it? Instead, you kept your mouth shut, feigning to be completely disinterested with whatever he had to say.
From afar, you spotted Suah talking to a man you had never seen. Not like it was a big deal since she had been working for Jimin for a while (and obviously it wasn’t her first party with Jimin either). But something about the man just didn’t feel right. Maybe it was the tattoo peaking from under his sleeves or maybe it was because of how serious Suah looked while talking to him. Either way it smelled like trouble.
You just hadn’t realized how right you were.
“I’m going to leave you two alone for five minutes.” Taehyung announced. “Please, don’t start a war.”
You pinched his arm in response since you were almost glued to his side – Taehyung winced and hurried to get away from you. Jimin on the other hand took the chance to step closer to you.
“I honestly want to pick a fight with you,” Jimin started, he took your hand gently, rubbing your knuckles with his thumb. “But more I look at you and less I remember why I was angry in the first place.”
Oh yes, Jimin was that good with turning your mind blank and making you forget about your anger. “I hate it.”
“What?” He said absently as his eyes were fixed on your hand.
“That you have so much power over me.”
That got his attention. He quirked a brow and raised his head to look at you. “Do I now?” His hand let go of yours and instead reached for your cheek, stroking it sweetly. “And do you know how much power you have over me?”
You had an answer on the tip of your tongue, so ready to flirt back, but the movement behind him got all of your attention instead.
You thought that nothing worse than being kidnapped and told you were sold could ever happen to you. Oh how wrong you were. Tonight, you found out that you still had a lot to lose. When you saw the man Suah was talking to earlier, starting heading towards you – you frowned. Not just because he was walking determined, straight and with a dark and dangerous glance in his eyes, but because of what he took out of his pocket.
A knife.
You didn’t think twice. In fact, you didn’t think at all, there was only one thing that mattered: Jimin. You grabbed him by the shoulders, so tightly he actually winced in both pain and surprise but before he could comprehend, you had already spun him around, shielding him with your body as you were fast enough to grab the knife with your bare hands.
It hurt. Like a bitch. It was a dumb move but you could hardly regret it when the man looked completely taken off guard, confused with a hint of fear. His plan had failed because of you and now he would face the consequence (and you hoped it was something along the line of ‘slow and painful death’). He tried to shake the knife which only deepened your wound, but you didn’t let go.
Jimin was fast to react and before the man could have a chance to escape, he was being pushed far away from you (with a nice punch from Jimin). With a blink of an eye Taehyung was back by your side, one arm tightly wrapped around you and with the other holding a gun.
All hell broke loose around you and despite everything, you couldn’t care less.
“Taehyung,” Jimin started, hands tightly wrapped around the man’s throat. “Take Y/N back home. I’ll see you later.”
A protest was at the tip of your tongue; you didn’t want to leave when things were getting out of hand but one glance from Jimin and you knew staying was not an option. Apparently, Taehyung agreed too.
“Don’t.” Taehyung whispered to you.
And you obeyed.
*
By the time Jimin got home, your hand was taken care and you didn’t feel like murdering someone. Obviously, the night was completely ruined (and all your plan of sweet revenge) and you feared what reckless decision Jimin could take because of it.
Surprisingly, he did nothing out of ordinary.
Jimin got home at two in the morning. You were slumped on the couch, waiting for him (and being anxious as hell).
For a while, you did nothing but stare at each other, or more like Jimin was intensely staring at your wounded hand, scowling deeply. No need to be a genius to know he wasn’t particularly happy with the outcome of the night.
Neither were you.
“You’re angry.” You were the first to break the silence, unable to bear it any longer, it was too stressing.
Jimin didn’t agree or deny it, he simply joined you by the couch, eyes still on your hand. He got on his knees and took your hand gently in between his. “I’m sorry.”
You blinked, confused. “What for?”
Jimin pressed his cheek against your hand as he looked at you, his eyes conveying all his feelings. “I should have known. I should have seen it coming.” He pressed his lips to your hand. “I’m sorry you got hurt because of me.”
“Don’t be silly.” You grabbed his shoulders and pulled him to the couch making it easier for you to hug him. “I’m glad I asked Taehyung to bring me with him. I don’t want to even imagine what could have happened if I wasn’t there.”
Jimin wrapped his arms around you, crushing you against his chest. You sighed in delight; it felt nice being in his arms after a long and stressing night.
“I’m going to protect you.” You announced proudly. It was silly but if you could help him out one way or another, you knew you would.
Jimin chuckled and you felt him relaxing against you.
He kissed your forehead and told you how lucky he was.
Damn right.
*
The next morning everybody gathered in the meeting room.
Jimin didn’t like the idea of leaving you alone, not after last night, but at least he comforted himself with the thought that you were safe at his place and hidden from his enemies. He didn’t get any sleep, he couldn’t. Not when you got hurt instead of him and under their watch. Not when because he was so blinded, he didn’t see Suah’s little game. All he could think about was his guilt but also the wish to take his revenge.
At first, nobody talked. Even Taehyung who usually would make some joke to ease the atmosphere, was calm. Too calm even. The tension in the room was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
“This shouldn’t have happened.” Yoongi was the first to break the ice and purposely looked at Jimin. “How the hell did it come to this? How none of you noticed the little game this bitch was playing?” This time Yoongi looked at Taehyung too. Jimin might have be the leader of his business but Taehyung spent much time in the place too.
Jimin didn’t answer or tried to defend himself. A part of him couldn’t come up with any excuses and the other part was just too angry to care to answer.
Yoongi sighed; it was so tempting to push on with the subject, it had to be addressed but he also knew Jimin, nobody had the power to force him to talk when he was in this state.
“Fuck it.” Yoongi cursed under his breath.
“Suah isn’t the only problem. She didn’t know where our men were watching over us which means someone else had betrayed us." Jin stepped in, arms crossed over his chest as he eyed his friends, one by one until his gaze fell on a rather silent Namjoon. That was unusual.
Namjoon didn’t comment or try to blame Jimin for the disaster that happened last night. No, instead he was taping slowly his fingers on the table, lost in his thoughts.
"How’s Y/N?" Namjoon finally asked taking aback most with his question, Jimin included.
Jimin hesitated. "She’s fine."
Namjoon only nodded. "What about Suah and the man who tried to stab you?"
Jimin ruffled his hair in frustration. The only thought of Suah made his blood boil and wish he could go and smash her head instead of letting someone else do his job. "Hoseok is taking care of them.”
Jin feigned a shudder. “I almost feel bad for them.”
Jimin didn’t comment but in his opinion, whatever Hoseok was doing to them, was worth it.
“Speaking of the devil.” Yoongi said as Hoseok pushed the door to join them. “You look like shit.”
“Yeah, could have taken a shower at least.” Jin commented and pointed at Hoseok’s sleeves. “There’s some blood there.”
Hoseok rolled his eyes and pretended not hearing their comments. He sat on Jimin’s left and let a tired and long sigh. “Suah has been working for Red Lotus for a while.”
That got everybody’s attention.
“She has been gathering information, passing it to them. It explains how recently they had been a pain in the ass.” Hoseok explained. “The contract we’re supposed to sign in Tokyo? It’s a trap.”
“Fuck.” Taehyung groaned
“Well. I appreciate you found it out before I got there.” Jin thanked bitterly.
“So, how are we going to take our revenge?”
*
“They’re planning something.” Yoojin said as you were getting ready to go out. “And it’s going to be big and probably ugly.”
One week after the incident, Jimin had been absent longer than you both wished, busy with scheming and probably doing some dirty work you didn’t want to know about. But at least you got Yoojin.
“That bad?”
“Suah’s betrayal left a bitter taste.” Yoojin hesitated for a second. “Jimin is beating himself.”
“It’s not his fault.” There was nothing he could have done to prevent this situation. Suah was a good actress and managed to fool everybody. Not only Jimin.
“Maybe.” Yoojin bit on her lips as she thought about it. “Jimin was close to her, closer than the others. I get it why he’s beating himself.”
You found yourself wishing you could have seen Suah one last time, just so you could punch her in the face. You closed your eyes, took a deep breath and emptied your mind. Today was not about Jimin or Suah or any other problem, it was about you and Yoojin going out for a drink.
“Let’s go.”
The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Sunny, warm with a breeze – the perfect weather for a girls’ day.
“Turns out, Smith was right.” Yoojin however said as she held the door for you.
“Smith?”
“The idiot who attacked you.”
“Oh.”
“You look good, Yoojin.” A man’s voice interrupted you.
You froze right on the spot, startled at the man’s interruption. Yoojin’s paled by your side; hands curling into a fist, she had obviously recognized the person waiting for you.
“Such a pleasure to see you again.” He said proudly. By his side four other men, looking just as dangerous as him, were staring at you. “Though, I’m still disappointed that you chose to become their whore.”
You had absolutely no clue who those guys were you didn’t care. He was messing with your friend and openly insulting her as if there would be no consequences. It was unacceptable. “Shut your mouth.”
Judging by his frown, he didn’t expect you to snap at him – Yoojin pulled you behind her, shielding you with her body. Despite your annoyance, all the bells in your head rang in alarm. You were in danger.
He ignored your order and averted his eyes to Yoojin; his scowl vanished right away and instead he smirked. “How’s Johnny by the way?”
The little shit.
If it wasn’t for Yoojin blocking your way, you would have pounced at him to make him eat his tongue. Yoojin only tensed but didn’t more or fight back.
“What do you want, Andrew?” She asked instead, refusing to play his game.
The said Andrew sighed in disappointment. “You used to be fun.”
“You used to be a decent guy but you don’t see me complaining, do you?” She snapped back with ease. “What do you want?”
Andrew seemed to consider her question. Seeing her with you was not part of his plan and her presence altered slightly his goal. “Well, I was planning to kidnap the lady behind you.”
His confession (and honesty) sent shivers down your spine; you were indeed in danger and with no way out.
“But since you’re here, I think I can finally have my revenge.”
At his words, Yoojin grabbed your hand and gave it a meaningful squeeze. She wanted you to run, to try to get as far as possible from this place and to get help.
You averted your eyes from the man and looked instead at her hand. You couldn’t leave her behind, it was out of question.
“Oh. Now that’s cute.” Andrew commented as he understood the meaning behind your silent exchange. “You used to care only for yourself. Really cute.” But then, he pulled out his gun and pointed at Yoojin. “But really, do you think I’m going to let her leave?” His smile grew more and more wicked with every passing minutes.
He pulled the trigger and fired right at Yoojin and hit her arm. Everything happened so fast. One moment you were still thinking about how to get you both out and then the next a loud bang got you frozen on the spot. The bullet had hit Yoojin’s arm and the sight of blood terrified you.
“Y/N, right? In my opinion, if you want this lovely Yoojin to survive, you should do as I say.” Andrew was clearly having a blast with this whole situation; it amused him while it terrified the two of you.
Yoojin, despite the wound and the pain, snorted. “Don’t make me laugh. You sparing me? Y/N might believe it because she doesn’t know you, but I do and I know that your hands are itching to kill me.” Then, she looked at you, pleading you silently.
But you couldn’t. Whenever what Yoojin said about Andrew was true or not didn’t matter, you couldn’t abandon her.
“I can’t.” You whispered
“Then, should I make it easier for you?” Andrew suggested as once more he pointed his gun at Yoojin.
Your body acted on its own and with a blink of an eye you stood before Yoojin with arms spread widely, forcing the man to halt.
“Don’t.” Your voice sounded so weak and desperate. “If you kill her I won’t come with you.”
“And what will you do? Try to run?” He laughed, “Should I remind you that I have a gun and you don’t.”
“I still can run.” That was, without a doubt, a desperate attempt to save Yoojin. “You need me alive.”
Andrew paused and scratched his forehead with the tip of his gun. “True. But I never said that I needed you healthy and unharmed.”
And before you could think or react, he pulled once more the trigger.

We're Okay
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4
OOPS IT'S PART THREE-
Well... not exactly. This is more like a self-indulgent bonus chapter as a break from the plot... It's just smut. Literally. If you're not into this, don't worry at all, because it has no bearing on anything, and the actual plot will pick up right from chapter two.
Warnings: General NSFW (obviously), but nothing harsh or overly kinky, pretty vanilla..., one single blood mention
Word Count: 2040
The room was already dark. True, it was quite like him to stay out for longer periods of time, standing on the balcony and looking to the sky, as if things might change if he dreamed about it long enough. And if you were so inclined, you’d join him, sliding your hand to his shoulder from behind, guiding his mind back to you the way you had done his body. His hold in return promises your success.
Yet today you find yourself pacing, stepping back and forth through the small space alone, Themis finally asleep in the room across, and you bite your lip, hating the uncertainty. The way they looked at him. Yes, you knew there would be hostility. You knew it from the moment you left Csilla. But… all of them?
Their eyes… their hands at their hips, prepared to draw a blaster at even the slightest infraction, hesitation and a softening of their features only present upon seeing you. But their attention did not shift, reason did not overtake them. It was only with their leader’s words that they stood down, albeit reluctantly.
Escaping one scrutiny, only to dive headfirst into another. If life hadn’t already been so cruel, you might have asked why. By now, though, you know better.
The door slides, shaking you from your thoughts, pulling your head back on instinct. Your arms drop from encasing your chest protectively, and you reach for your husband, who almost instantly reaches back, taking your hands in his and pressing them to his lips, as if relieved to see you after so long apart.
“What was it?” you ask him, scanning him slightly for any new injuries, despite your previous trust in the woman that led you there. “They didn’t…”
“No…” he says softly nothing but reassurance in his voice. And yet you sensed guilt. “We can stay, but… things have changed. Thrawn… has changed. I have to move against him.”
“You don’t,” you urge, taking his face in your hands gently, asking silently for his eyes to meet yours. The slight glow is a comfort, just as it always had been, and yet you can’t help but feel as if they’re dimmer, as if the lights have grown tired of shining the way they had so long ago. “You don’t have to do this. We can find somewhere else. We can leave again.”
Your fingers brush at the scar on his cheek, protective, promises of no more harm coming to him as long as you can help it. Not being able to help it might as well be your worst fear. “It won’t make any difference.” He watches as your eyes narrow, unable to release your worry for him, one that hadn’t quite gone away since the day he was back in your arms. Now, it seems, he’s only continued to put himself in harm’s way. “This is… everywhere. The galaxy itself is under this single control. There’s no escaping it unless we try to go back.” Home. Once upon a time, he would have said, “go back home.”
“I have to do this,” he continues, more sure, more certain of his future. “These people… they hunt those with the Third Sight. It’s… It’s not about them. It’s about her.”
You raise yourself up as best you can, him in turn meeting you in the middle, placing a soft kiss on his lips. “I don’t want something else happening to you,” you whisper, more afraid than you had realised. “Not after everything.”
“I swear,” he says prematurely, unable to break the habit of making promises you both know he can’t always keep. The words soothe you regardless. “We will be okay.”
How often you said that to him. We will be okay. The day you found him. Every day after. Even as he struggled, as he bled through bandages, as his chest heaved and he tried to make you leave him behind for your own sake, you still whispered into weak hands that you held tightly as if it were his very life, “We will be okay.”
And so, hands loosening, you prepare to release him, accepting it as an answer, at least for now. A soft smile on your face, a step back. It’s not a fearful silence, not like he was prepared for, but rather, one setting the unease to rest, one promising a coming of tomorrow, when perhaps you will discuss once more. But for now, “I’ll be washing up,” you say, beginning to break away, suddenly lonely at the thought of being away again, even if it were only a room over. He seemed to think the same.
His hand doesn’t quite release, leaving you standing across from him, your arms connected in a line between you, oriented as if caught in the middle of a waltz. There’s a tilt in his head when you turn back, almost a smile at the corners of his mouth, but not quite.
“Or…” you say, trying not to laugh at his ridiculousness. “You could join me?”
How you missed the laugh he gives, despite the pressure, despite this place being not entirely what you wanted, a weight is gone, expectations all but meaningless. Already, your heart skips the way it did when you met him.
“Well, if you insist,” he smiles crookedly, happily following as you all but drag him out to the smaller room, less extravagant than you were used to, though he wouldn’t have it any different.
Impatient as ever, his lips are already at your neck, slow presses and warm breath sending chills through you, his hands working at the layers you wear. You tug at his clothes just the same, allowing this sudden, unrelenting need for him control your actions, the feeling of going so long without him all but blocking out any other reason.
And your hands find his hair, sliding out the tie at the end of his braid, brushing through the new waves that no doubt would be washed away moments after hitting the water. It matters little, he knows, strands falling over his shoulders, smiling into the kiss he plants on your own lips. You quite like it that way.
Clothes litter the floor haphazardly, his touch becoming more urgent, more desperate, refusing to stop even as he leads you backwards beneath the running water. The warmth hits all at once, sliding over your skin, his touch even smoother, obscured by the steam raising around your bodies. He holds at your waist, doing everything he can to press himself to you, not a breadth of space between you.
“I know… I know it’s only been a few days…” he sighs, more so to himself as he tries and fails to reason out his desperation, having moved himself much further down to reach your chest. He melts for a moment in the soft whimpers you give as he lightly sucks at your skin. “But gods I’ve needed you… I’ll always need you.”
It’s as if he’s trying to catch you off-guard, quickly slipping his hand down between your legs, the reward to your anticipation sending you further backwards, finally against the icy wall, unsure if the shaking in your legs is from the stone, Thrass, or a little bit of both. Yet he isn’t one to keep you waiting, his free hand dragging paths across your skin knowing by heart the exact places that make you sigh and gasp for him, the last instrument in the universe he can still play.
And you hold to his neck, desperate for something to ground you as he rubs and plays with your clit, low hums of laughter following every sudden sound you make when he changes his style. Fingers run over his pale scars, the lines almost reminiscent of lightning spread over the contours of his body, many of them coming to meet at his waist, a harsh reminder of what might have been. You touch them anyways, kisses following the tracks, as goddesses bestow blessings to those who’ve given so much, and he holds each as their own reward, remembering that each one is a bit of your heart made to fill the gaps that still keep him from being whole. One day, perhaps, you might bring him all together.
Pulling his hand slowly away, ignoring your breath of displeasure at being left so, he instead guides your legs further apart, holding to the bottom of your thigh as it follows his lead around his waist. His voice is at your neck again, hot breath enough to rival the warmth of the water still gracing your bodies.
“I’ll be gentle,” he assures, barely in a whisper, if even there at all. He enters you slowly, a gradual movement promising that you feel every bit of it as he goes, sliding into you easily, his very existence designed solely to be yours in every moment now, as well as after. Each second he takes is a new wave of pleasure, another moan, another cry of his name, one after the other becoming louder, echoing in the otherwise empty chamber.
He’s done so little, yet you find yourself begging already, “Please, please don’t stop,” as if you were in any danger of being left unsatisfied. But no, it isn’t in his nature to do such things, and he begins the moment you say it, his hips rolling painfully slowly into you, deliberate and intoxicated by how tight you are around him. His own soft moans are like a song in your ear, interrupted every so often by a whimper of your name and muffled by more kisses onto your jawline.
Soon enough, the need only becomes worse, every inch of your body growing tense, pulling him closer to you, wanting more than what you have.
“Gods, you’re so beautiful,” he still says, breath short and strained, “I need you, I need you, my love,” is all he manages to say, likely, all he knows. He obliges a request you didn’t need to make, moving to the rhythm he knows you love, your heart racing faster than you can measure, beats he can feel against him as he holds you. You shake and tremble as you reach your edge, your legs curling so tightly around him that there’s barely enough opportunity for him to continue, and yet he does, pushing you through your climax, cursing under his breath as you cum together, your cries surely loud enough to be heard from at least the hallway. All evidence of your time washes away with the flow of the water, yet he still holds to you, remaining connected these last few moments, unable to let go just yet.
The heaving of his chest slows, practically willing your own to follow suit, a confident embrace protecting you the way he always hoped, only loosening later on, allowing your feet to touch the floor lightly. Your hands cradle the sides of his face, watching relief form so clearly as he continues to gaze at you. It’s so odd, he surely still thinks, that you love him so. That he can still do such things for you, that over all the scars, all the pain you see in him, you love him above such things, and he in turn can still touch you, can still love you the way he always had. The kiss you give is small, only barely there, and yet placed as if to seal away a letter sent to a lover far off, and he knows, running a warm towel over your hair, across your damp skin, that you haven’t left.
Your hands intertwine, now mostly dry, your forehead pressed to his for the moment just before you dress. And he smiles, every bit of contact a gift he’s learned to hold to as if it were the last. A touch on the small of your back, and a quiet sigh. If anyone had seen, they might have said it was a conversation all its own. You know you have to part, rest for the day to come, but there’s so much to think, so much to feel. In the silence of it all, you whisper to him, to only him,
“We’re okay.”

You watch the moving trucks hired by the DEA to facilitate your luxurious, but imaginary lifestyle roll up the driveway one after the other. Each truck opened to reveal piece after piece of expensive furniture better suited to the silver screen than your real life adding to the dysphoria you'd been feeling over the past few days. You were now living and enjoying someone else's life, a fact that left an uneasy feeling in the pit of your stomach. Though the anxiety you were feeling was likely due to the very real threat of being murdered, and not the lavish home decor you were now in possession of. If there was one thing to be thankful for it was your close proximity to the water, you’d been landlocked for too long. Peace washes over you as you watch the water break against the cliff face. You turn towards the target's house gazing up to the balcony on the third floor. The doors are swung open and a woman in white stands with her arms outstretched on the railing, standing like a queen overseeing her kingdom. You were being watched. You lift your hand up to block out the sun, hoping to get a better look at her, but she's gone by the time you do.
Noticing the overwhelmed look plastered on your face as the trucks arrived Javier decided he would take on directing the movers. Only calling for your help when furniture needed to be placed, as interior design was admittedly not in his wheelhouse.
“You know where that goes?” Javi asks the movers, lighting up a cigarette and placing it between his lips. The movers nod as they lug the enormous mattress inside. He turns scanning the landscape to locate your whereabouts, you'd been all over the place this morning. Whether you were playing into the spacey artist trope or the pressure was finally getting to you he wasn’t really sure. Either way he wanted to make this transition as easy as possible for you, and considering you weren't a field agent it was also his responsibility to keep you safe. He spots you near the walkway that leads down to the ocean, a gentle breeze blows in from the beachfront causing the linen dress wrapped around you to part just above your thigh. There's a relaxed smile etched on your face, resulting in a calm that Javi had never witnessed emanating from you before.
An arm snakes around your waist and you lean into it for a moment before remembering who it belonged to causing your body to instinctively retract. You push back off his chest and watch as Peña shakes his head in quiet frustration before turning back towards the moving trucks. You chew your lip, you knew you had to do better at acting the part you’d been ordered to play. If you didn’t this mission would be over before it even started. Memorizing your alias was easy enough as was adopting the british accent, but acting in love with Peña. That was where it all fell apart, but if there was one thing you knew for sure it was that you did your best work under pressure. You swallow hard as the last few trucks slip away down the driveway. The notion of being left alone with Peña for the first time was an anxiety not even the ocean could sooth. With a deep breath you will your legs to move towards your new home which is currently looking more like a cell. You walk by Peña who snuffs out his cigarette in the dirt before following you inside.
“Why would two people ever need a house this big?” he asks, closing the door behind you, his voice bouncing off the marble walls.
“So they never have to see each other.” you offer, running your hand along the granite countertops.
“That felt targeted,” he says, watching your hands movement intently.
“It wasn’t, at least not intentionally. You notice how this whole back wall is glass? Weird design choice” you remark, trying to open up a civil dialogue with him.
“Probably built it so they can keep tabs on the neighbours” he offers coming up behind you, standing a little too close for comfort.
“Why build a house across from yours if you're trying to be undetected?” you ask, turning around nearly colliding with his chest, huffing at the inconvenience before maneuvering around him.
“If you were a federal agent and a big empty house was available for a stake out would you take it or would you go for the rocky beach or bug infested forest? Keep your enemies close, they expect the feds to show up here, so they make it easy to monitor” he explains, in a surprisingly uncondescending way.
“Hadn’t thought about that” you admit.
“Don’t teach you everything in those fancy buildings with ivory towers” he chuckles, as he sits down on one of the couches.
“Never claimed that they did” you retort “did they bring any food in?” you ask, moving towards the fridge.
“Not sure, figured the kitchen was your domain, can you bring me a beer” Javi says, the subtle misogyny fueling the rage simmering inside you.
“I’m sorry what exactly did your last servant die of?” You snap back.
“What? We’re supposed to keep up appearances” he responds calmly from the couch, feet crossed on the coffee table that cost more than your yearly rent.
“And what exactly is my appearance supposed to be? The domesticated housewife who brings you beer, cooks you dinner and sucks you off?” you respond, rage finally boiling over.
“Well I hadn't asked for that last one yet but...”
“Unbelievable! You can cook for yourself Peña. I'm not your wife and im definitely not your fucking mother”
“You certainly nag like her. Seriously a beer, it's not asking much” he demands.
“You know...” you say opening the fridge and pulling out a beer walking it over to him “I don't know if you’ve heard...” you continue, nudging his feet off the table with your calves as you place the beer down “of these amazing things...” you say, kneeling down, parting his legs and rising up between them, making eyes at him as you slowly run your hands up his thighs. “Called legs!” you state slapping your palms down on his thighs smiling as the growing smirk on his face quickly disappears “You should try using them sometime” you finish standing back up, grabbing the beer from the table and heading back into the kitchen to cook yourself, and only yourself, dinner. You'd managed to stay out of each other's hair for the rest of the evening, but another blowout ensued when it came to figuring out your sleeping situation.
“C'mon you don't have to be such a...” Javi exclaims calmly
“Such a what Peña?” you ask watching him bite his tongue “No please finish that sentence. I’d love to hear what thought provoking and truly innovative ideas you have about me.” You retort
“Just get in the bed” he pleads, lifting up the sheets and motioning his hand towards it.
“With you? I'd rather be shot” you state.
“Keep acting like this and your wish may just get granted sweetheart” he says through gritted teeth, the petulant show you were putting on wearing thin.
“Newsflash Peña! They can’t see us in here, so I think I'll take my chances on the couch” you assumed it was far enough away from the windows to keep you from prying eyes.
“Your fucking funeral” he shouts down the hall, watching you storm off with an armful of sleepwear you'd brought from home. The sleepwear was not flattering nor did it fit into the rich aesthetic you were currently upholding, but at this point, you didn't care. You'd chosen the oversized band shirt and basketball shorts because they hid your body away from prying eyes. Not that Peña would be looking, you hardly qualified as his type. You flop down on the couch rolling your eyes at the beer bottles he’d left there, likely for you to clean up. Irritated you fall asleep, cursing the couch for being inexplicably the most uncomfortable thing you'd ever had the misfortune of sitting on.
Your woken as the doorbell sounds throughout the house startling you so badly that you fall off the couch with a loud thud. “Shit!” you curse realizing it was likely the target. As quick as you can, you strip off your pyjamas and throw on the robe you had snatched in a hurry last night, only just realizing it was practically sheer. You yawn as you open the door to a beautiful woman who you immediately recognize as the target's wife, Helena. Presumably the same woman who you had seen on the balcony yesterday. She looked every bit a billionaire's wife with her hair neatly styled, 6 inch heels and perfect makeup while you, well you currently looked, and smelt, like you’d slept in a sewer.
“Hi im Helena, we saw you move in yesterday, we live next door.”
“We?” you ask squinting into the early morning light as another yawn escapes your lips
“Me and my husband” She says looking past you towards the couch where you had slept. Shit. Peña was not going to let you live that one down. Speaking of the devil, he appears from the bedroom in an open robe, and very thin linen pants, a look that made you realize why so many women were easily charmed by him.
“Cara mia, who's at the door?” he asks, eyes darting to the obviously slept in couch before settling on the beautiful woman standing before him. A woman who'd have his full attention if it wasn't for the transparent robe clumsily wrapped around your body.
“Our new neighbor” you say, refraining from using a cutesy nickname afraid you'd choke on it.
“Forgive my wife, she hasn’t been sleeping well” he says, coming over and wrapping himself around you, kissing the top of your head, before resting his chin on it.
“I find I sleep best when next to my husband” she responds offering Javi a megawatt smile which he returns.
“Maybe if your husband doesn't snore like an elephant” you respond sleepily with a soft laugh. You were surprised how well the british accent rolled off your tongue despite the early hour.
“Mine does as well, shakes the whole house! The things we put up with when we are truly in love are amazing” shes says, reigniting your anxiety “We want you to come for dinner, we've hired a chef” she continues.
“We’d love to, always good to know the neighbours, we like to make sure we're keeping good company” Javi reponds.
“Excellent, lets say, 7:30, be on time, my husband doesn't like to be kept waiting.” The second the door shuts you wiggle out from his grasp and make your way over to the kitchen pouring yourself, and only yourself, some coffee, still tired from the piss poor sleep you'd gotten last night. At least this time it wasn’t because you had to listen to someone having rigourous sex through the walls.
Javier follows close behind snatching the cup from your hands and taking a sip, knowing full well it wasn’t meant for him. He watches your eyes bulge slightly and your jaw tightens before you storm off into the bedroom to change out of the see through robe, much to his dismay.
“We need to go over the plan for tonight,” he says from the kitchen.
“Alright what is it?” you ask emerging in one of the many luxurious outfits provided to you.
“We’ll scout it out, find the room where they keep the paintings nd take the samples you need.”
“Ya” you say “and how exactly am I supposed to sneak in test tubes filled with liquid that traces drugs. ” you ask
“Bring a purse? I don't know. You're the genius you figure it out” he shrugs.
“I could wear a long skirt and strap them to my legs?”
“No they'll know you're hiding something,” he says, shooting down your idea.
“Purse it is then” you respond. “If they come back positive then what?”
“We can figure that out later, but i'll drop hints that the money I've made has been done in less than legal ways, and mention your outstanding knack for counterfeiting. Oh and wear something short tonight” he says “More to see means less to hide” he offers when he sees you glaring at him. “ and no scowling at me while we're in there, unless you really want to blow it” he laughs, your hatred for him almost comical at this point.
“What am I supposed to do when you're being insufferable then” you dig, with a wide fake smile.
“Save them up for later, besides it won't be me in there with you, it'll be my character, who you don’t hate.”
7:00pm
You change into a burgundy dress with an open back that falls well above your mid thigh, its length hardly covering you. You make a note not to bend over throughout the night, as you sling on the high heels that cost more than all your shoes combined. You grab the swabs and plastic bags needed to keep them sterile and stuff them into your purse before slipping on your wedding ring, and exiting into the kitchen.
“Alright, how do I look?” you ask, reopening the purse and re organizing the material inside it. When you finally look up you’re taken aback. Peña's usual attire of tight jeans and button up t shirt’s had been replaced by a stunning velvet pastel coloured jacket worn over top, a partially unbuttoned silk dress shirt and black dress pants. He cleaned up well, very well.
Your prolonged look doesn't go unnoticed by Javi, nor does the way your eyes quickly dart back down to your purse when he meets your gaze. He refrains from making a snarky comment knowing it would only piss you off, and that was the last thing he wanted to do before infiltrating a highly dangerous situation.
“Perfect, hermosa” he says, he wasn’t lying about it either. He knew you weren’t really listening to what he was saying, but god if you didn't look perfect tonight. Pretending to be in love with you would be easy enough for him, he hoped you’d be able to maintain the act as well. He watches as you move gracefully around him in heels that were working exceptionally well at emphasizing your... assets. He averts his eyes when you reach up for a bottle of wine knowing that more than you’d want him to see would be out.
“You know I can speak Spanish, right?” you say, a small smile creeping on your lips before quickly disappearing back into the cold facade you were determined to keep up against him.
“Well, I do now” he laughs, slightly embarrassed he got caught out complimenting you sincerely. He slides on his wedding band and escorts you out the door.
“God how do people walk in these for more than 15 mintues” you mutter, your feet already killing you. You almost regretted pushing Peñas arm away when he’d offered it to you earlier. Approaching the house you feel his hand wrap around your waist and you lean into him in an attempt to take some pressure off your feet. He rings the doorbell, lowering his hand as he hears the heels approaching from down the hall. Lifting up the hem of your dress he begins rubbing small circles over your thigh with his thumb. Any other time and you'd have broken his hand without a second though, but it fell well within the contract you’d had him sign detailing exactly where and when he was allowed to touch you.
“Welcome” Helena says as she opens the door in an equally revealing dress. She leads you through the enormous entrance way and into the main foyer, gazing up you see balconies on each level overlooking the large ballroom area. Your amazement at the house was cut short as you turned to see Peña who was currently only paying attention to Helena's fine architecture. If your eye rolls wouldn't give your true feeling for eachother away, his ogling certainly might. You elbow him harshly in ribs causing his hand to inadvertently dig deeper into your skin. His grip releases as Helena's husband enters into the room grabbing her and kissing her deeply for just long enough that both you and Javier feel uncomfortable.
“Welcome” he booms after separating from Helena, grasping Javis hand in his. You can see the veins in his arm bulge, as he clamps down on Peñas hand in a bizarre play for dominance.
“Here” you say offering him the wine, causing him to release his grip “Your home is as stunning as your wife” you smile as he looks down at the bottle reading its label.
“This one’s from a good year! Neither of our wives were even born then, lucky for us” he laughs, winking at you “We’ll have it with dinner.” he continues, pulling Javi into his side and walking him towards the bar.
Helena smiles at you and raises her eyebrows, rolling her eyes at her husband's behaviour. “Come now, alcohol will get us through the night” she states, leading you down the hallway. You knew her suspicions were high, and it wasn't lost on you that she’d likely shared her feelings with her husband, but she was being remarkably kind, which only added to your concern.
“Drink? What’s your poison, Carino?” Carlos demands of you. He was larger than life in both stature and personality, charming but in a terrifying way.
“I do believe he's talking to you love” you joke, smiling up at Javi earning a laugh from Helena.
“Whiskey, neat.” he says, you couldn't tell if Carlos was amused or upset by your disobedience, but the way Peña was currently pulling you discreetly out of Carlos’ reach made you think it was the latter.
“I usually don't ask twice, but for someone so beautiful and so clever, I'll make the exception. Though just his once” Javis grip around you relaxes and you flash Carlos a smile.
“Gin and tonic, if you don't mind”
“Any preference” he asks.
“Dealers choice”, you say, offering him back the control which seems to cut the tension and it's not long before he’s once again laughing with Javi.
“We're glad to have neighbours again '' Carlos says “especially ones who seem so agreeable.” His approval doesn’t relax you. Approval wasn’t trust and you’re well aware that this was just as much an interrogation as it was a dinner party. Carlos takes a seat in one of the upholstered armchairs gesturing for Javi to join him. Helena nods her head towards the couch and you follow her lead. Your eyes are quickly pulled off her when Peña yanks you down onto his lap.
“Darling!” you exclaim thanking the lord you didn't use his real name by mistake. “I could have spilled this very expensive drink all over this very expensive chair, I'm so sorry! I'd say he's not usually like this but...”
“I understand his need to have a beautiful woman in his arms as often as possible, it's why I'm on my fourth wife!” he boasts.
“I'm hoping i'll stick.” Helenea says, holding her drink up as she gazes lovingly over to Carlos, though something behind her eyes told another story. Perhaps you weren't the only one harbouring a secret hatred. “I'm hoping you’ll both stick as well. Neighbours can be problematic, nosy even, our last ones were before they...moved” Helena says from the couch
“Hard to imagine someone tiring from living in the house. It's beautiful, did you build it?” you ask
“Paid for it, but Helena designed it the whole thing, she's very gifted.” Carlos brags.
“I'd have to agree with that,” Javi says, smiling at her which she returns, a flirtation playing on both their faces. Javis hands may be on you but his eyes were on her and if you were picking up on it Carlos certainly had as well. You jump slightly when the server enters the room to inform the group that dinner was ready.
Javi pulls out a chair for you and you sit down placing your hand on his as he takes his seat next to you. The meal was the best you ever had, five delicious courses each one more decadent than the last.
“You don’t take her out to many five star restaurants? It seems as if she's never eaten such a meal!” Carlos excalims. Evidently you were doing a piss poor job at hiding your delight.
“I'm still getting used to the lifestyle if i’m honest. Though I imagine a meal such as this is still rare, even at the most expensive restaurants” you say before Javi can respond for you, the recovery impressing him slightly.
“You should have seen what she was eating before I met her, back when she was a starving artist” Javi says, as you bring a hand up to rub along the velvet jacket covering his broad shoulders.
“The billionaire and the starving artist, now I must know. How did you come to find each other?” Helena asks.
“My art dealer went to New York and brought back one of her paintings, it came with a photo and after seeing it I knew I had to have her, if she’d take me”
“And how did an old man like him convince a sweet young thing like you to marry him?” Carlos asks.
“No convincing needed, not when he sent thousands of my favourite flowers to my studio before showing up at the door himself. Any man willing to put that much time and money towards meeting me deserves a date. At least in my books and he’s continued to prove himself to me ever since.” You gaze up at him lovingly, so convincing that for a moment even he forgets you hate his guts.
“What are they? Her favorite flowers?” Helena probes, earning a grunt from Carlos presumably displeased with his wifes intrusiveness.
“Sunflowers. They're hard to find in New York, especially in the winter, I had to ship them from California.” Your gaze of faux adoration turns quickly to genuine surprise. How had he known what your favourite flowers were? It wasn't outlined in your character profile and you'd certainly never told him.
“I’ve seen the piece, its beautiful, your wifes very talented,”
“You should see her school portfolio, copies of works that were almost exact replicas of the originals. She possesses the talent of a hundred artists before her”
“You flatter me. Copying is a technique used to learn, but it's no measure of true artistry or creativity” you laugh. “When did you see my work, were you in New York?”
“Oh no I'm an art dealer myself, but I have people go to places for me. Your work was passed over my desk a few weeks ago.” Carlos explains.
“Perhaps I could paint you something then I would finally have a truly unbiased critic” You watch as Carlos slowly nods his head, contemplating your offer.
‘You’ll have to see our art collection, we have pieces here from all over the world” Helena says,
“How long have you been in the business?’ you ask, taking Carlos as a man who liked to show off
“longer than you've been alive” he says winking at you.
“Well I can only imagine what pieces you must have , you've proven to have exquisite taste, in all areas of life.” you smile eyes briefly darting to Helena.
“Helena show her the gallery would you, I wish to speak with my friend here in private”
“Will you be joining us later?” Helena asks, causing him to grunts out a yes before pulling Javi into another room to talk about god knows what. She leads you up to the second floor, each step you take causing a sharp pain to shoot down your foot’s arch.
“You get used to the heels, small price to pay for the lifestyle. Walking around in them in the house for a while helps.” she explains.
“Thank you” you say. “Somedays I dont think I'll ever really acclimatize to the lifestyle.” She leads you into a large room, greek style pillars run through the middle while art from around the world lines the walls. If the pieces were real this room was worth millions.
“How does your family feel about you living here? It must be hard them being so far away in England”
“I uhm...I... don’t have any.” You can feel her eyes boring into you assessing the answer you just gave her. “They passed, when I was 19” you continue turning to meet her gaze.
“I'm so sorry. To lose them so young must have been devastating, but I don't need to tell you that, do I” she says, shaking her head. You nod swallowing hard gazing back to the paintings. “Lucky he found you I suppose, and such a handsome man at that. Many billionaires are.... not.”
“Lucky for us both then” you say, moving along the wall “these painting are beautiful, I envy you being surrounded by such formidable pieces, and only a walk away”
“Yes'' she says, as if she doesn't care. She's watching you intently, trying to suss out where your loyalties lied, your lack of descriptive fondness for your husband suddenly seemed like a poor choice on your part. Before she can ask another question you hear Carlos yell out for her, the noise startling you both, so much so that her hand clamps down on your wrist.
“Duty calls” she says, composing herself and relaxing her grip on you.
“Should I come with you?” you ask, playing into the deer in headlights trope which seemed to have an effect on Helena.
“No, he asked for just me. I don't like to disobey him, he's not a kind man when not listened to.”
“Are you safe here” you ask.
“As long as I don’t cause trouble I should be.” she affirms.
“Well, you're welcome at ours, at any time. If anything happens, even if it doesn't you can stay with us. Heavens knows we have the room.” you say sincerely, the concern coming from you, not your character. Helana nods offering you a soft smile squeezing your hand before leaving the room.
“See how obedient she is, how compliant, she's perfect, don’t you think!” Carlos says
“Hard to argue with that,” Javi responds, giving her a once over.
“And beautiful yes, c'mon you are married not dead” he prompts when Javi doesn't respond immediately
“Very much so” he says, smiling at Helena before turning to Carlos who was intent on showing off his wife in the most demeaning way possible.
“Was there something you needed love?” Helena asked. She was used to her husbands showing her off to other men, but she was growing tired of it. She was involved in her husband's work, primarily in the organization making sure everything ran smoothly, she knew if it didn't she would inevitably be to blame. She valued her life, so she learnt fast, adapted like a pro. Four years later and her husband hadn’t offed her yet. She was a mastermind in a career she had been inadvertently forced into, but a mastermind nonetheless. To her husband she was nothing more than a trophy, but better to be that than a punching bag.
“A word in private” he says, gesturing to her with a come hither motion.
“Your wifes in the art room, up the stair, down the hall to the left, take the drink with you, we won't be a moment” He says, his eyes telling Javi to vacate the room. He lets out a grumble as he closes the door behind him. He shakes his head, swirling the whiskey as he walks towards the gallery. He’d fumbled tonight by not making it clear that he only had eyes for his wife, a hard task considering Helena, who he realized too late was likely meant to see if his gaze could be easily swayed. Which it had. All thoughts about any other woman cease to exist when he walks into the gallery and sees you bent over swabbing a painting. Something about watching you in your element had always been mesmerizing to him. It’s why he was always dropping off files for you, the task could easily be outsourced, but he enjoyed watching you maneuver with ease around the various machines.
“You should be more careful querida,” he says, chuckling as you jump back.
“Watch the door, would you? I've got two more to do” he leans back against the frame, one eye on the door, one eye on you watching as you meticulously swab the remaining paintings. “All good, you don’t think they keep cameras in here?” you ask, closing up your purse.
“No. Cameras are easy to hack.” he says nonchalantly, as he comes over to you stopping at your side looking up at the painting, suddenly understanding people's fascination with art. You grab the drink from his hand and take a sip placing it back down on the empty pedestal propping yourself up along with it when you hear footsteps approaching.
“Come here” you demand, and he does, eyes suddenly darker than before. He stops a few inches in front of you. “Closer” you beckon, wrapping your legs around him and pulling him into you. You drape your arms around his shoulder extending your neck allowing his mouth to graze lightly over the skin just in time for Helena and Carlos to witness it. You push him off you in pretend shock.
“Please, don’t stop on our account” Carlos laughs
“I'm sorry, god these pieces must be worth thousands and here I am sitting on one” you say hoping the act wasn’t too transparent.
“Don’t apologize, a work of art belongs on a pedestal” Carlos says, the complementing causing Javis jaw to noticeably clench. He was a better actor than you gave him credit for, maybe they would buy this relationship after all.
“We should probably be going, once she starts it's hard to get her to stop,” Javi says.
“So that’s how she trapped you” the husband responds, the entire exchange causing you to cringe internally. You hop down off the stool as Javi finishes the whiskey offering the glass to Helena who takes it before leading you towards the front door.
“We must do this again soon,” she says settling into Carlos’ arm
“Perhaps at ours next time?” You offer
“A generous offer, but we prefer to entertain.” He says
“Then I look forward to seeing you soon, especially if another meal like that is in store” As you exit the mansion Javi makes sure his hand is visibly running over your body, but you slap it away the second you can.
“Ouch” he says, shaking out the hand, the rings on your fingers leaving a particular sting on his skin.
“Suck it up” you respond, having had enough of him for the night.
“Cut the shit, your attitude problem is going to get us killed” he whispers through gritted teeth.
“I don’t have an attitude problem. I just have a problem with you” You say, turning to face him and prodding a finger into his chest “ and don’t act like you ogling his wife was helping our case either. Ya I slipped up tonight, but so did you, so shoulder some of the blame you’re throwing my way.”
“Jealousy’s a nice colour on you” he laughs, knowing how riled up it would get you.
“Ha!” you fake laugh “ because it's jealousy and not the fact that your inability to keep it in your pants is going to get me killed.” You exclaim as you enter the kitchen grabbing down a glass and chugging some water before going into the art room where you were storing the testing kits.
You? Jealous? Of what exactly. What did he think he had to offer that would make you want or need to be the subject of his attention. Attention he gave to anything that walked or batted its eyelashes at him. Jesus he was insufferable, you hated that he had this notion that your anger was based on jealousy and not multiple interactions where he'd failed to impress you. Even if you had come off as jealous it was all a part of the act. He had been acting jealous throughout the night, did he think you weren't competent enough to do the same? You had three degrees for fucks sake, you deserve some credit. “Fucking asshole” you mutter, the manifestation of the words helping you to calm down enough to dip the q tips in the liquid, sure enough, they came back positive the paintings had been near drugs, you’d tell Peña about that later. You see the light on in the bedroom as you exit the “art room” and you head towards it determined to get one last punch in before going to bed.
Javier had just settled into the enormous bed he had the luxury of having all to himself, moments away from flicking the light switch when he notices your figure in the door frame.
“Penny for your thoughts?” he asks
“I think he's abusive, the husband you were getting along with so nicely” you spit out, the venom intended to question his character in a hurtful way, but it doesn't seem to phase him.
“It's the job to get friendly with the monsters, doesn't mean I like them” he reasons
“I told her she could come here if anything happened, so we’ll have to hide this stuff a bit better” you remark, turning your failed attempt to get one last dig in, into a valid reason for starting up a conversation.
“Guess you'll have to stop sleeping on the couch then” he smirks. Check mate. Your eyes bore into the bed you had just talked yourself into sharing with Javier Peña.

Little Things
Nishiki x Unanmed Female Character
Summary: Request from @kippkapp -
Hi there! Could I request a fic (or HCs, either is fine) where Nishiki's s/o enjoys to pamper him love and affection?
Sometimes a small gesture can brighten a long, tiring, day.
Contains: Fluff, a bit of angst, a singular curse word
A/N: Thank you all SO MUCH for 100 followers. It really means a lot to me that I’ve gained that much in just a short amount of time. Numbers really aren’t that important but the kindness and nice words I’ve received from other writers has meant the world to me! I hope you all enjoy this fic and the ones to come! Thank you @kippkapp for the suggestion and thank you all for following me!!
The rain had started to pick up halfway through his walk home. What started as a small pitter patter on the black pavement, barely felt on his skin, had turned into a steady fall of water, beginning to soak through the shoulder of his white suit and weigh him down.
Hair sticking to his cheeks as he trudged through the streets, Nishiki kept wishing for the day to finally be over. Another long day of trying to keep his family together, worrying to death about Kiryu in prison, and living in fear someone would find out about what he had done had finally built up so much inside him, it took all of his power to not just collapse in the street, waiting for the rain to wash him away.
Looking up to the second floor of his apartment complex, he sees a small, gold light shining through the window of the place he called home. A slight, tired, smile tugs at the edge of his lips, a small bit of pressure lifting off him, despite the rain making his clothes heavier by the minute.
With weary legs, he climbs up the steps, feeling like he was climbing Mount Fuji in its entirety. Every step felt like it would be his last and he almost worried he didn’t have enough energy to finish his ascent.
Finally and triumphantly making it to the top, he sighs, running a cold, wet, hand through his equally cold, wet, hair. Luckily, up here, on the balcony outside his apartment, there was some refuge from the rain.
Walking up to his door, he rummages in his pockets, looking for his keys. He didn’t forget them back at the office did he? Are you fucking kidding me? He thinks as he huffs, silently berating himself for being so careless.
Suddenly, before he even has the chance to knock, the door swings open violently. The wind it created caused his wet hair to sway slightly, his head darting up to see the smiling face in front of him.
“Akira-chan,” she beams, “You’re finally home!” Pulling him in by the black cuff of his shirt, she shuts the door behind him, “I was getting worried you wouldn’t be home before the rain really picked up. You left your umbrella here again.”
As Nishiki slips his shoes off, placing them gently next to hers, she notices the damp spots on his shoulders, darkening his white blazer to a dull gray. “Akria!” she worries, eyes wide.
He looks up, eyes heavy with fatigue. A neat, black, eyebrow raises in response, “Yeah, hun?” She rushes behind him, slipping his suit coat off before he can protest, “Look at you, you’re soaked already.” Laying the wet fabric on her arm and walking out of the room she mutters to herself, “I know I should have made you take the umbrella.”
Looking around, Nishiki can see not only had his girlfriend done some tidying up waiting for him, she’d boiled a pot of water too. On the counter next to the kettle she bought as a housewarming gift to him, set the tea and two cups for the both of them.
She comes back into the room, a t-shirt and a fluffy towel replacing his jacket on her arm. The woman thrusts the items at Nishiki, mumbling with a bashful smile, “As cute as you look with your hair all wet, I’d hate for you to get sick, Akira-chan.”
Hands like ice reach out to take the shirt and towel. With an equally bashful nod, he smiles, “Thanks, baby.” Gently drying his hair, the fabric muffling his words, he feels free to mutter, “You’re too good for me.”
Clinking sounds from the kitchen pull him from his self pity, Nishiki dropping the towel on the nearest piece of furniture he could find. She calls to him from the counter, a beaming smile flashing him over her shoulder, “You want your tea like usual?”
With a tilt of his head he walks up to inspect her work. Wrapping his arms firmly around her warm, dry, waist, he watches her pour the green powder into the cups of steaming liquid. “What’s my ‘usual’?” he questions with a laugh.
His dry chuckle earned one from her in response, “You’re joking right?” craning her neck to look at him, she smirks, softly, “You like yours with extra froth.”
The sparkle in her eyes at that moment seemed to intense at least threefold. The smoothness of her voice and the sincerity of her words captured Nishiki in a trance. He could feel her leaning back into his arms as they tightened around her ever so slightly.
He couldn’t even begin to quell the beating of his heart, either. A heat rose to his angular cheeks as he nodded, “Yeah… I do.” A pair of devilishly soft lips connect to his jaw and the heat becomes more prominent. “I… I didn’t think you’d remember,” he admits.
Looking down at her hands, he watches them prepare his tea, just the way he likes. How had she managed to keep such a small, insignificant, detail in that busy head of hers? Why was he worth remembering at all?
It was no secret to anyone Nishiki didn’t garner respect from any person in this town. Oftentimes he felt like giving up, folding in half on the ground and waiting for the world to end his suffering. No one cared about him, no one would notice. Yet, something about the tea in front of him was beginning to make him think differently.
After working up a Nishiki amount of foam at the top of his tea, she turns in his arms. With a soft, caring hand, she reaches out to his, grasping it gently. With her other, she places the warm porcelain into his palm, urging his fingers to take hold of it.
Doing so, his eyes never once leave hers. Even in the dim light of their one bedroom apartment, they shone like stars. Gleaming, sparkling, and beaming with pure adoration… for him. They looked like warm pools of steaming hot springs water, so inviting and comforting. If he could, he’d swim in them forever.
Bringing the tea to his lips, he tilts his head back, feeling the froth of the tea smooth over his tongue. It really was good. As the tea warmed his stomach, the thought put into it warmed his heart.
Nishiki sets the porcelain cup back down on the counter, the sound of it clinking onto the wood echoing in the room. Wrapping his arms back around her, he pulls her close to him. His nose, still damp from the rain, buries into her hair. Hands splayed across her back, feeling the fuzzy fabric of her sweater, he sighs.
A clench in his chest becomes prominent, as well as a stinging in his eyes. Nishiki chokes back the feeling, not wanting to add crying to an already horrible day. Feeling her hand reach up to grace the back of his head, he whispers to her, “I missed you so much today, you know that?”
She chuckles, her chest vibrating against his in their soft embrace. “I missed you too, Akira-chan. I always miss you…”
That last comment caused him to squeeze her just a little bit tighter, almost afraid that if he let go even a little, she would walk out of his arms and out of his life forever. Digging his fingers into her shirt, he prays the moment will never end.
Gentle fingers begin to card through his hair, the sensation easing some of the tension in his shoulders. Leaning her head against his, she whispers, “Why don’t we take this to the futon, baby?”
Nishiki leans back, nodding meekly before she takes his hand in hers, gracefully leading him to their bed in the corner of the room. It was already laid out and neatly made for the evening, his favorite set of night clothes folded on his pillow, waiting for him.
She pulls him down, leaning up against the wall. He falls onto the soft cushion, his head resting in her lap. Glancing upwards, he is met with a sweet smile that makes him nearly melt into a puddle in her embrace.
Repeating her action from moments ago, she begins swiping her hands through his slowly drying, silky, black locks. His eyes flutter closed for a moment, nearly purring at the movement of fingers against his scalp.
Being in her arms felt like laying on a cloud, nothing in this world was more soft, more gentle, more calming than feeling her with him. It was smoother than the foam of vigorously whisked matcha. The aftertaste of the tea on his tongue was the sweet reminder of the love she harbored for him. Licking his lips, he smiles, remembering its earthy taste and frothy texture.
“So…” she mutters, never once ceasing her hands, “You wanna talk about it?”
He only hums, barely able to pull himself out of his trance. It was like she was a magic sorceress, and he was nowhere near strong enough to resist her spell.
Her light laugh only solidified his thought as he silently swooned at the sound. “Akira-chan, baby, you don’t have to act all tough around me.”
Finally, he turns over in her lap, resting the back of his head on her thigh to look at her better, “What do you mean?”
Reaching up, a light knuckle traces down his cheek and across his jaw, tilting his chin up just a hair, “I could tell the second you walked into the door, something was wrong.”
The gleam in her eyes seems to spark for a brief moment as she leans down, pressing her lips gently to his. Not able to resist himself, Nishiki holds her head to his, gripping her hair and deepening the kiss. Moving his warming lips against her, he feels the last bit of stress from the day float away, like the magic of her mouth had carried it off.
Loosening his grip on her, he glides his palm down to her cheek, their faces only inches apart. As she regains her breath, the air tickles his nose, sending a comfortable shiver down his spine. “You know me so well, baby.”
She holds his hand to her face, sandwiching his skin between hers, trying to capture the feeling of him on her. A warm smile spreads across her face as she sighs.
She knew what he meant by that, what he had wanted to say. It was obvious from the grateful look in his eye to the way his thumb was dragging across her cheekbone. Instead of responding, she only nods, pressing her lips to his once more.
If this was how every rainy day would end, Nishiki thought, then maybe he was going to start praying for more bad weather.
